- Dinosaur design minky fiber Cloth Diaper
- Waterproof outside with one inserts as gift
- Strong absorbent material with breathability
- Double Rows of snaps fit well
- Leg gussets against leaks
First off, this is a MINKY diaper. Minky is like a suede material. There is no PUL. It will wick if you have a heavy wetter or after a nap/bedtime. I have to use both inserts during normal wear.Overall, it’s a great diaper. The color is fantastic and has yet to fade or stain. Soft doesn’t even describe how plush this diaper is. Even with the occasional wicking I would buy again.
Dinosaur Minky – Red dye stains UPDATE to 4stars from 3.
Over all a cute product that’s super soft. Just unlucky that mine came with red dye problems. The dye stained the white material and this is straight from the box, no washing. I didn’t expect this as no one else mentioned it.I likely would have given this 5 stars if no dye issues and if the design included leg gussets which I have read helps immensely with leaks/blowouts. This all-in-one may work great for your little one. Just maybe try a different pattern as Alva offers many.UPDATE:So I was holding this minky diaper just marveling at how soft it is and I was staring at the red “stains”. Turns out the stains are actually a very very faint image of the dinosaurs on the reverse side of the minky material. Anyhow, happy to have found this out! I’ll just return and get a new one shipped and hopefully it will be alright. I’m leaving the rating at a 4 because I am sad this doesn’t have leg gussets in the design.
Cute design, great value for the price
For the price, this is a great diaper so far – we’ve only used it for a month or so, but so far we have had no leaks. The pattern is cute, and the outside of the diaper is incredibly soft. There are three rise settings, and the size seems comparable to other one size pocket diapers we have. The snaps for the waist adjustment are well-placed, with a row at the top, and another set of snaps below that to prevent wing-droop. The only thing that would make it better to me would be double gussets at the legs, but we have not yet had a leak, so the single leg elastic works fine so far.You can get this a little cheaper ordering from the Alva Baby website, but you will only get one insert, and you will be waiting for several weeks to receive the diaper.UPDATE (1-1-2014)We’ve been using these for over eight months now, and they are one of our favorite daytime diapers. They have enough snaps to be able to get a good fit. We have not had any leaks or blowouts with any of our Alva Baby diapers (nor with any others, except for nighttime issues, but that is a whole different diapering adventure). We did end up buying extra inserts – our 19 month old needs two of the microfiber inserts to be able to go up to two hours without a diaper change (we haven’t tried to go much longer – we like to change him at least every 1.5 to 2 hours). We dry the inserts on medium or medium-high heat, and hang the covers to dry, and after over eight months of washing every 2-3 days, all of the diapers still look new, all of the snaps still work the same as when we bought them, and we have no smell issues with the inserts or covers. Our wash routine is to rinse twice with just cold water (prewashcycle), wash once in hot water with Tide Ultra powder (no bleaches, fabric softeners, or extra scents), and then rinse twice with cold water. The only possible negative I can think of is that we don’t feel comfortable stuffing these with more than two microfiber inserts – the elastic around the legs is not quite as stretchy as our Bumgenius diapers, and I think if we tried to ‘overstuff’ these ones, we might risk leaks or a blowout, but this hasn’t been an issue for us, because we tend to use the Bumgenius with a little extra stuffing when we need a little extra absorbency. We have used these with two microfiber inserts and one thin bamboo insert with no problems.
Excellent! BUT the red dino runs a bit…
Great diaper, super soft outer, excellent stuffins included, great deal for $11 cloth diaper. That being said the red dino on the outer minky pattern, runs a bit…there are red shadows around it. I washed in cold water and it didn’t turn the whole diaper pink or anything it is just like there are little red ghost dinos here and there. Certainly does not affect the function of the diaper, purely a cosmetic complaint…and the function of the diaper is definitely 5 star quality! Great snaps, great inserts, great deal! I love it, I am buying more!
Alva One Size Washable Reusable Minky Cloth Diaper for 6-33lbs Baby…
I just love the animal prints on this diaper. This will be perfect for my grand baby Deon. He’s going to be so cute in them.
Adorable print and so soft!
Love this diaper so far! The print is adorable and it is SO SOFT! I also feel like it keeps his bum warmer than other diapers that are not minky material.. so cozy!
Inexpensive and does the job
These are great to purchase if you want to cloth diaper but are on a budget and can’t afford the more expensive ones. They have not leaked for me. The only negatives I would say is that the inside does catch on to more lint and random little things than say the BumGenius or other popular brands. The inserts are microfiber which I’m not too crazy about. I wish it would come with bamboo inserts and just charge a couple dollars more for it. Highly recommended.
I like it
I was a little put off by how thin it was and I wasn’t sure if it would hold any moisture, but it does! It’s very soft and keeps my son dry. I recommend!
Adorable and high quality
These are, according to my daughter-in-law, the cloth-diaper expert, the BEST cloth diaper brand and style available. The title says it all…they are absolutely adorable and they are so well made, I wish I could afford to buy her a dozen more!
Love these and they’re way cheaper than other brands
So far this diaper has been great. I am using many other more expensive brands (Bum Genius, Soft Bums, Rumparooz, Swaddlebees and Fuzzi bunz) and this works just as well so far. I’ll buy a few more for sure.
cute but a little losse
The pattern is super cute, and I like the fabric. The issue that I had was the leg openings were a little loose on my 2 month old son (10+lbs and 21 inches long), so I had some issues with leaks. I’m hoping that he’ll grow into them for a better fit.
I did have not use this yet because is big for my newborn, but color is nice and looks resistant so I just can said my NB is 9 pound and still big so buy thinking that you may start using it when she or he is at least 12 pounds
Holds up well for $$
I was hesitant to buy Alva cloth diapers at first. For the price I decided I could buy a few and I am happy I did. While they aren’t the first diapers I’ll grab from my stash (I prefer AMP & Bumgenius) they really do hold up well and are surprisingly absorbent.
