Brings teething and brushing together, helping babies to develop healthy oral care habits from the earliest age possible, literally taking dental care “into their own hands.” The Baby Banana Brush Story Several years ago, Sandra’s (owner) two-year-old grandson tripped and fell on his toothbrush as he was trying to brush his teeth. The traditional hard plastic toothbrush punctured the roof of his mouth and came within centimeters of entering his brain. This occurrence brought Sandra and her daughter-in-law Heather (dental hygienist) together to discuss a safer solution to the traditional toothbrush. With Heather’s insight the idea for a flexible infant toothbrush was born. Click on images below for more facts on each unique Baby Banana product! Information…….

This item has caused somewhat of a debate between customers. It seems that many have used this as a teether and the bristles have come off causing negative reviews. These reviews have been met with some belligerence from parents who have purchased and had great experiences with this product and feel as though the problem is more in line with lack of parental guidance and understanding, rather then the product itself. Id like to add my 2 cents, as well as some new info.First off, I have found that the defending parents are correct in their assessment that this product states nowhere in the description that this is a teether, perhaps parents are coming to the conclusion that this is a teether by the references the description makes to ” soothing the gums”?While I do agree that parental guidance is necessary with any product you give your child and do feel that this along with better understanding the design and use intended for products plays a large role in preventing injury and hazards in children. I also have to agree with the customers who feel that this product should have made with more durability, as should any product intended for babies/toddlers, as it will endure rough use.Everyone here is missing the obvious, whether this product is advertised as a teether or toothbrush is irrelevant. Children in the age bracket this product targets do not posses the ability or understanding as of yet to brush their teethe. Any item placed in their mouth will be met with the instinct to chew and will become a teether at any rate. This is advertised as a product that “encourages” oral hygiene and tooth-brushing skills and should have been designed and created with the durability to withstand the chewing that will inevitably take place, no matter in what fashion a parent allows their child to use it.I have found some new info that may be of interest to anyone who is considering purchasing this item and may put any negativity or debate regarding this product to rest.I happen to find this item and therefore all of the controversy surrounding its use while looking at it for almost 18 month old daughter. After coming to the conclusion that this product is not for us, as it is recommend until age 12 months, I found the second step toothbrush offered by this same company. It is very similar in design to this one, the only real difference being, no handles and the shape is designed in a way that allows for more real tooth-brushing.Upon reading those reviews, it seems that some of the same problems were taking place with this one also, bristles coming off after children brushed several times with it or chewed on it a bit, as they will still do this at toddler age as well, especially while molars are breaking through.A new review was posted and it seems that the company, upon reading and hearing of the issues and realizing so many parents were using this as a teether for extended periods, has redesigned both of these products and the new design includes reinforced bristles. They both have this new design, however this product has the strongest bristles as it is designed for children under 12 months and will probably be met with more chewing. So it seems that all of your complaints were heard and anyone who orders this product now will receive the newer tougher design. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps!

Not for baby with lots of teeth

Bought this to my 10-month-old who had 8 teeth and 4 molars coming in. The brush is soft but the bristles are set pretty far apart from each other, not like adult toothbrush. The bristles are more like little massage bristles instead of for cleaning. Don’t like it at all. It’s for kids who don’t have many (or any) teeth. If your baby has several teeth, go with something else.

one star mainly because my baby doesn’t want to have anything to do with it

One star mainly because my baby doesn’t want to have anything to do with it. Normally, she likes to put everything in her mouth or at least plays with it. She doesn’t even want to hold it. It’s a waste of money and I can’t even pass it on to someone else.

Baby does not like it.

Bought it because of the reviews online and my baby loves to chew his hands. When I finally purchased it. He used it for 5 seconds then no more. Now its on his "FOR DONATION" pile.

Baby loves chewing on it!

Got this for my then 7 month old daughter and she loved it! She loves chewing on every part of her banana brush. I make a game out of brushing her teeth (no toothpaste, yet) with it and it makes her laugh every time. She is almost 9 months old now and still loves it.The only bad thing about this product is that due to the material that it is made of, it attracts dust, dirt, and hair like you wouldn’t believe. You think your floor is clean, but the banana hits the floor and you have to rinse it off before giving it back to baby.Despite that, I still love it. And with the little handles, you can attach a paci clip to it so it won’t hit the floor when out and about!

Baby’s go-to for sore gums

We have a 5 month old who is working on about half a dozen teeth at once. We’ve tried lots of different teething rings and soothers: Animals with flat chewable “feet”, plastic shapes with liquid inside that you chill in the fridge, a pseudo-pacifier that is flat and chompable…but the one he’ll reach for, when given a choice, is this baby banana training toothbrush. Some reviewers have said that this is not a toothbrush. I’ll agree with that. It doesn’t clean the gums or teeth. What it does do, though, is get baby used to the idea of something with bristles wandering around inside the mouth. Once he is able to properly bite things, I will probably replace it with something else to save the bristles. The texture is very satisfying to chew – not that I’ve done it myself, but it feels like it should be. It picks up cat hair like crazy but cleans off quickly with a rinse under the sink. I don’t think ours came with a bag, like it did for a previous reviewer. Baby is able to hold it himself and seems to enjoy chewing on the handles as much as on the bristle end. Not so much the far end; its shape lends itself toward sliding out of his mouth. We’ve been able to attach this banana to the play mat’s overhead rails using plastic rings, and baby has also been successful (sometimes) in picking it up himself when he drops it while on his back, depending on where it landed.Edited to add: Baby is now nine months old and has seven teeth. This is still his preferred teething item when his mouth is bugging him. It still looks the same as it did when new, so it’s holding up to the chewing well.

Too Small for My 18 month old!

I bought this toothbrush for my 18 month old son who LOVES to brush his teeth! In fact, he likes to run around while brushing and that’s why I thought this was the perfect product since it is bendable and safe. However, my son does not prefer this toothbrush. For lack of a better term, it seems very “babyish” for him. I keep offering this toothbrush, but he shakes his head and wants his regular bristle brush. I think this product is good for younger children, but at 18 months, this product is not useful in our home. And I really wanted it to be! 🙁

Wow!

Our son is nearly 17 months old. He has a bunch of teeth, and he is not afraid to use them when we brush using the infant brush that sits on your finger. This has made brushing his teeth a rather challenging and painful event. He spit out the pacifier within 8 weeks or so and never used a teether. In fact, he never really puts anything in his mouth (which while a blessing in some ways has created its own set of challenges with feeding).I washed the banana toothbrush and put a tab of the infant “toothpaste” on it and put it in our son’s mouth. He grabbed the banana out of my hand and started going to town on it. I could not get it away from him. And he actually looked like he was brushing his teeth. Jammed it in his mouth along the sides, rubbing it around his mouth. I don’t think he’s getting his upper teeth and I would rather he let us brush them for him, but all things being equal, I am glad that he loves the toothbrush and he is doing a better job than we’ve been doing since we’ve been reluctant to put our fingers in his mouth due to the great pleasure he gets from biting our fingers.

Not what I expected

Kinda useless ….. the whole head part is silicone (no bristles) that surprised me … and its TINY! I was expecting something much larger but its half the size of my hand …. Baby enjoyed throwing it around the room and everynow and then took a half hearted attempt at sucking/chewing on it. We got some other toothbrushes for her which actually have bristles and we can actually use to brush her teeth and she enjoys

Teething?

I ordered two of these. One for each grandchild. Both boys popped the toothbrush into their mouths right away. They don’t usually like regular teethers or Sophie the Giraffe except for her squeak, but they like these toothbrushes. Thanks to the other reviewers for the heads up about when the teeth come in.I like that it’s not made in China, is BPA free, and is made of medical grade silicon. (It is made in Taiwan, but I think that’s okay.) You can also throw it in the dishwasher or freeze it.One other thing,I discovered a website while I’ve been researching baby products that might be helpful to young parents. It is <…> .

Great Teether

I had a finger toothbrush for my daughter but she kept trying to chew through my finger and wouldn’t let me take my finger away either, so that’s when I started looking for an alternative. We have tons of teethers, ones with water, that vibrate… but aside from Sophie the Giraffe, my daugther was only interested in teething on my finger tooth brush. I decided to give the banana brush a try and I am so glad I did! She is very particular about the kind of silicon/ rubber that she like to teeth on and this is the perfect consistency. It’s pretty soft and it’s super easy for her to hold onto on her own. The only down side is that I have two dogs in my home and as much as I vacuum there is always hair on the brush, so I have to clean it every time before I give it to her. But I would highly recommend this to any mom who has a teething baby that has difficult holding onto and maneuvering teethers.

Brush Those Teeth, Baby!

lol, this is so cute. My son started teething at three months and I was looking for something other than the typical teething rings that go in the freezer. This is perfect. The handles on the side took a little for him to get use to, but he’s got it now. He loves to chew on this, and when I tell him let’s brush your teeth he opens his mouth and I brush them. He loves it. This is really cute!

Son loved it

My son was very oral when teething (still is) and really enjoyed chewing on the banana. We didn’t really use it as much of a toothbrush, rather as a teether. It held up well.

Picks up a lot of lint

I got this “infant toothbrush” because my son started teething really early. I thought it would be easy for him to handle but the shape fits awkward in his little hand. But that’s not my biggest concern with this product, after all, he can always grow into it. My biggest problem is that it picks up lint like crazy. I have to wash it before every use and in a matter of seconds (that’s not an exaggeration) it’s already full of lint and stuff. It’s gross. It seems like the product is made from a sticky kind of silicone. Bummer, I had really high hopes for this product. For the price I paid I expected much better quality.

Perfect for new teeth and sore gums

Not only does the silicone texture brush prepare baby for a life long habit of brushing teeth, but my teething son LOVES to chew this brush. His gums are terribly sore due to teething. He loves to chew on both the brush part, and the banana peel part. With this brush, he is able to reach different areas that bother him. This brush is nicer than a previous one he had that didn’t have the “peeled” down loops. Not only does he chew on those parts at times, but it also allows me to attach a pacifier lanyard to clip to him to prevent it from falling on the floor. And, the peels work to prevent him from pushing it too far it in his mouth. Very happy with this. I purchased a second one to keep in his toy travel “bag-o-fun”. It has soothed my cranky teething baby many times at home and on the go!*UPDATE*Please note that the manufacturer really doesn’t intend this to be a teether, but a starter toothbrush. I read a few reviews where people had problems with some of the bristles being bitten off. Though not ideal, a bristle here or there is tiny and not a choking hazard. It’s also made of medical grade silicone, so it should “pass” without issue. I have not experienced any parts breaking off and my son has been using this for many months. As stated above, I do allow him to use this independently as a teether, but he has never bitten off any bristles, he’s not the kind of chewer to bite off pieces, AND I watch him closely while he uses it. Please use caution with any teether or toy for that matter, and always inspect prior to and during use. (Just my extra two cents as a mom looking out for all kiddos.) Cheers!

my son LOVES this!

He at first wasn’t into it, thrn one day he started gnawing on it and ever since, he can’t stop! I love how he uses both sides of the banana and I love how there’s a handle for him to hold onto. The only con I have is that lint tends to get on it easily, so I wash it more than his other teethers, but I guess hygenically that’s a good thing 🙂 Great buy!

Choking hazard

Be sure to assist your little one, when using this product. Severe choking hazard as the product is made of flimsy plastic and if your infant/toddler has any teeth at all the little plastic brushes will come right off.

Fun toothbrush that does what it is supposed to

I give this five stars mostly because it’s a toothbrush and I’m not sure how it could possibly be particularly bad (or good for that matter). As my baby grows older (she just turned ten months) I’m sure this will be easy for her to use since it has a wide handle. It’s cheerful and fun. I am skeptical about how well it cleans Madison’s teeth since the bristles are soft, but she’s a baby and at least she’s getting used to having her teeth brushed. It does what it’s supposed to do and for that I give it five stars!

Sweet nanner teether for baby

My nine month old loves this. I like that it’s free of BPA, phthalates, and all that. It’s nice that you can pop it in the freezer to chill it for teething babies. Also, the peel handles make it easy for baby to hold or to throw a pacifier strap around to clip to baby’s shirt, since there’s nothing she loves more than dropping all of her toys on the floor.

Baby loves it while he’s teething!

Our 8 month old chews on this thing non stop! Although it’s technically a toothbruch, for now I think it’s a great "chew toy". It’s easy for him to hold and will be a great learning tool for when those teeth (FINALLY) come in. Only prob is a lot of fuzz sticks to this so wash frequently.

Good Training Toothbrush

My 12 month old loves this toothbrush. The handles are very useful and she gets all excited when it is time to brush her teeth (she only has 6) and gums. It definitely makes toothbrushing fun and the handles foster independence. She loves brushing her own teeth with this brush and it makes her proud that she can brush her own teeth when we brush together.

Great Use as a Teether (and maybe double as a Pacifier)!

Our child loves using this as a teether, we feel it is a better teether than toothbrush because of the shape and design. Since it is in the shape, color, and design of a banana, it is more suitable as a teether. Our child had problems when she first started teething using teething pacifiers and other teething products, that they didn’t like it at all, so we ended up finding this and the fact that it had many other great reviews and high ratings, we just had to try it, and man was it a savior. We ended up also using it as a pacifier after dinner when we would eat out to quiet our child. It is very rubbery and easy to grab, it is of the stickier rubber variety, so it’s great for the babies.Try it out and most likely you’ll like it!
