OMG Better then you think
Ok we got this as a joke gag gift for ourselves. It is a little pricy and you probably say they have apps for this for your phone. But this is much better. Our boy listens to this as he falls asleep since birth and he is going on 5 months now. We tried the apps and none did the trick. It is an awesome conversation piece also, people do not believe you have a Shusher. You can easily adjust the volume to you and your kids liking. You can set it for 15 or 30 minutes of shushing and it will turn off. The shape lends it to be placed on its side an point it towards or away from your child. You would assume it will roll being round but we really have not had that issue. Highly recommended if you plan to use the Shush method to lull your little one to sleep. Don’t feel like you are a neglectful parent by not doing the shushing yourself. Imaging doing Shush for 10 minutes at a time, for every nap time (yeah you should buy this). The rhythm of this shusher is perfect for a baby to understand the pattern compared to a person performing the shushing which will be inconsistent. This is my # one go to shower gift moving forward.
works great, wish there was a better way to hold it
love this, but wish it had a clip or something that made it easier to hold. when you have a baby in your arms, you basically have to cradle this between your face and shoulder to hold it.otherwise, great.
Baby Shusher waste of money
I got this for a discount off a website, thinking that it would help me to get my grumpy teething baby to sleep and save me from going light headed from shushing her myself. Well she just thought it was a chew toy. No effect at all. waste of money. But my 4 year old thinks its tons of fun!
Perfect Noisemaker & Companion to “Happiest Baby on the Block”
Great shusher for calming and putting a baby to sleep. I have a baby that cried a lot and fights sleep every time. This device has helped quite a bit and has saved my lips/mouth many a night!Pros: Helps calm baby as noted in "Happiest Baby on the Block". Small so easily used for travel. I’ve dropped mine on hard surfaces a lot and it is still working.Cons: Only 30 and 15 minute time setting, then it turns off. So you’ll need another noisemaker in the room to have constant white noise. I use the HoMedics one – it’s cheap and loud enough (many are too quiet) and set on ocean waves. Also, batteries are a pain to replace (lots of annoying screws to take out).
ok to be quite honest with you all… i got this baby shusher for a few days and then returned it. hear me out first. i love it. its awesome. you can choose 15 or 30 min setting for the product to shush your baby to sleep. you have the ability to increase/decrease the volume too. it freaked my husband out the first time i turned it on as my shusher’s volume was on full blast haha.now why did i return it? Pneo, the makers of baby shusher, came out with an iPhone app that does the exact same thing for a fraction of the price. Can’t beat spending only $5 bucks. i happen to have a spare old iPhone collecting dust in a drawer. installed the app on that and TADAAA! Same awesome shusher.
This works! I use it every time my newborn is ready to sleep and it does the trick. He sleeps longer when falling asleep with this and it stops his crying almost immediately. I absolutely recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to keep making the shusshh noise themselves. :)Update: Our now 2 month old is still loving this shusher. I wish we got it the week we brought him home from the hospital. I will be buying this for every friend who has a baby. This thing is great and I am SO glad we got it!!Suggestions for the manufacturer: Make it easy to use with one hand; give the option of continuous play (vs cutting it off at 15 or 30 mins) and fade out the sound vs. stopping it abruptly.
Our daycare was using another child’s shusher with her and suggested we get her one. We do and I see them use it sometimes. It is definitely almost instant calm, in almost all cases.
Totally worth the price.
This thing sounds just like real shushing and unlike other white noise machines, you can crank it up really loud. If your baby cams down when you shush him yourself, this machine will work. It does seem a bit expensive, but my throat was dry and my lips were chapped from making the noise myself, so I would have paid twice as much. The baby shusher combined with a miracle blanket have made my life so much easier.
Every baby is different…
I had high hopes for the Baby Shusher. Unfortunately for us though, it did not shush our baby. I could tell that he did listen to it and it did seem to (somewhat) prolong a calm period, but it didn’t do the trick when he was fussy and tough to soothe. Dry diaper and full belly made no difference at all. I did end up returning it as it is a bit expensive.
Amazing for any baby/toddler
We love this! Perfect shushing sound and saves the parent from sushing for hours on end. I cannot wait to use this on my newborn (my 14 month old loves it).
Bought for my Colicky Grandbaby and it works wonders. Mommy & Daddy are very happy GiGi got this for Isabelle. Where were these types of gadgets when we were raising our babies. A Must buy for any new parents.
I know some people find shushing annoying but it really works! The 5 S’s have been a lifesaver (Happiest Baby on the Block) and sometimes she needs a little more shushing to fall asleep after I leave the room. We’ve been putting her in her rock and play awake with this on (and white noise) and it’s made a huge difference! We got it as a gag gift but it’s been a lifesaver and well worth it!
I was unsure if it would work, but it does. It helps by getting baby’s attention and it calms our LO down. Great for guys.
Every parent needs one!
This unit is a life saver. It instantly calms my newborn. We took this with us to the hospital for delivery and used it starting the first night. He only needs it if he’s otherwise issue free meaning has a clean diaper, is recently fed, doesn’t have any gas, isn’t too hot or cold, etc. if he is otherwise taken care of and is just fussy then we use the Shusher to calm and soothe him and he will easily drift off to sleep. The 15 and 30 min timers are great to leave with him and the auto shut off saves the battery. Usually only five minutes is all it takes on the medium volume setting. The unit can get very loud on its loudest setting and I don’t find it necessary to have it turned up that loud. Simply holding the unit closer to his ear seems to do the trick. My new baby shower must have.
