NIce but fragile
I bought this for when I was dealing with engorgement when my daughter started sleeping through the night. I would keep them in the freezer and put them in my shirt when I’d wake up hurting. I think it helped with the engorement but what is annoying is that if you leak (which WILL happen if you’re dealing with engorement) milk will get trapped inside the material and ultimately ruin it. So I had to put breast pads on first so this didn’t happen. What gets frustrating is when you WANT the heat or coldness on your nipples, you end up worring that you might leak on the pillows. That was a risk I took a few times and I probably did get some milk on there. One of the pillows is leaking a small amount of flaxseed already and I have no idea how because I’ve been carefull with them. Also, they don’t really retain heat all that well. I was disappointed with that, as I was hoping that they’d at least hold heat for 10 mintures… The heat they retain lasts for maybe 5 minutes and then a dull heat for maybe 10-12 mintues. I felt like I paid a lot for these and they didn’t really deliver but overall I was glad I had them at least because they did help with the engorgement (cold) and a plugged duct (heat). So I’m here complaining about them but found them helpful. You be the judge yourself I guess. I wish I had something similar to compare them to but I don’t sadly.
Purchased these because I liked the fact that you can heat them or freeze them. I’m a D cup and they fit very well. Comfy and retains the heat nicely. I heat mine up in the microwave for 1 min 30 seconds and place on my breasts prior to pumping. It did help unclog my ducts! Only downfall is that one side of the pads is pretty thin so you have to be careful of tears. Mine already has some micro holes in it.Definitely recommend for breastfeeding mamas!
Large, very soft, high quality
I almost didn’t buy these because they were so expensive, but if you are looking for top-of-the-line ice/cold packs these are worth it. They are definitively better than others I’ve seen on the market. The material is super soft, and they are extra large to cover more of the breast. I also bought the “Gerber Breast Therapy Warm or Cool Relief 2 Reusable Packs” (also very highly rated), and these are infinitely nicer and softer. I can’t compare to the Earth Mama Booby Tubes as I didn’t buy those, but my guess is that these would retain heat/cold longer since they are a bit thicker. If you are dealing with the pain of engorgement or clogged ducts/mastitis, these are a totally worthwhile luxury in which to indulge yourself!I also recommend the Bamboobies overnight nursing pads if you are looking for super soft nursing pads. I don’t love the regular pads as much, but the overnight ones are great.
I love these for heat and cold
First of all the material is sooooo soft and soothing to lay on your skin. I love that the shape fits perfectly on my breasts and that I can even slip them into my sleep bras. I mostly use them for heat but have also used them for cold. I like that they take a short time to heat up, especially when you’re juggling so much. They are soothing for cold compress as well, but I find they hold the heat longer. I was using a different version of a heat pack but I found that it was burning my skin easily, and these weren’t so that’s also a benefit to these packs. When I’m done applying them to my breasts I sometimes lay them on my neck while they continue to cool down so that I can soothe my neck as well. Just a funny story to share. I’ve been recommending them to all my pregnant and nursing friends as a must have for breast feeding mommies.
A moment of ahhhhhh for sore boobies
I used these for my first 6 weeks of nursing my son. In the early weeks of nursing, supply is still trying to regulate and the result is sore boobs! I also ended up with bacterial infections in both breasts, which resulted in breast soreness. We had made rice socks to help in my labor, so I tried to use those to help with the soreness, but they didn’t quite contour the way I needed them to. It’s pretty tough to get two big athletic socks full of rice down your shirt! I got these and my, what a relief! I popped them in the microwave, shoved them down my nursing tank and ahhhhhhhhhh… a little relief in such an uncomfortable time. I only wish I’d had them sooner. I also highly recommend this brand’s overnight reusable pads. They feel like a cashmere cloud for your nips!
Great for first weeks
Great to have for the first few weeks of breastfeeding when you need extra Tlc. Now that I’m 2 months in and better adjusted I find I don’t use them as much. Definite must have for new nursing moms though. Wish I had these in my hospital bag instead of ordering when I for home.
Soft, large, but don’t retain cold temp
Edit: After having these pillows for a few weeks now, I am kind of frustrated with them. Whenever I take them out of the freezer, they just don’t feel that cold to me. I don’t know what it is, they seem to warm up quickly on my skin and I don’t really feel the cold I need to ease my pain. They are very soft (softest material!!), and comfortable, and I do like the size of them- but unfortunately they just don’t do it for me. Also, there are no washing instructions.. so there is no way to clean them. You have to be very meticulous to make sure you don’t get milk on them, which is a little bit of a hassle when you are laying down and trying to balance an absorbant breast pad under the soft boob-ease pillow without having them fall off or change position.
I keep these in the freezer and use them almost every day. My breasts get so sore from pumping and lanolin is not enough to ease it. They get cool very fast and stay cool on my breasts for at least 20-30 minutes. Make sure you do not put them directly on your skin if you are prone to leaking or else you will get wet spots that you can not clean. I made that mistake once, now I use the bamboobies under these to prevent that. I have not tried heating them yet. I pump about every 2-3 hours and use these after each pumping session, they are always cold by then and have had no issues with them at all. I received a set of the gel pads at my shower but they are terrible, the plastic sticks to my breasts and if I use anything between them I can not feel anything. I really love these and recommend them to any breastfeeding mom!!!
RELIEF! I have other rice microwaveable wraps, but these are so much better for my sore nipples after pumping as well as to help prep my breasts before pumping. Being able to use them cold or warm is just fantastic and definitely makes the pumping routine more palatable. Any nursing/pumping mother should definitely consider these as part of her equipment
A little bulky but very soothing
I’ve really enjoyed having these while nursing. After warming them in the microwave for a minute or so, they provide a soothing hot compress and help stimulate supply. After receiving so many disposible and plastic supplies from the hospital, it’s nice to have something natural and reusable. I think they’ll also be useful long after I’m done breast feeding as a more generic hot compress and even in place of a hot water bottle in bed on a cold evening. The only downside to these is that they are very large. I hadn’t noticed that when I ordered them and thought I could wear them inside my nursing bra. They definitely need to rest on your chest, outside of your clothes. There’s no practical way to tuck them in.
Wouldn’t buy again
These were great for the first week. Then they began to smell. I couldn’t do anything to make them smell better. They worked really well but became gross.
An absolute must for breast feeding mamas.
These pillows are so soft. They warm quickly in the microwave and you can stick them in the fridge or freezer. I wore nipple pads with mine though bc although they are washable, other reviews said the seam would rip after washing. I’ve had mine for months now with no drama. This company makes all A+ products. Try Boobease washable nipple pads too! They’re wonderful also!
I love these for my sore engorged breasts. They are also helpful when they need encouragement to let down when I am pumping
Must have for clogged ducts
Not just for nursing moms, these have come in handy for all kinds of things. They hold their heat for a long time, yet don’t get too hot. Great value.
These are lifesavers – I have been experiencing terrible pain/vasospasms/blocked ducts/thrush for the last four months. No one has been able to diagnose exactly what it is, I have gone through multiple therapies, antibiotic rounds, steroid ointments etc. In short, I had come to terms that this pain will continue as long as I try to breastfeed/pump. Everyone had also suggested applying heat. Applying heat usually would take an extra 15 minutes before-after each pumping and feeding session that I did not have the time to dedicate to. I really wish I had found these much sooner, they worked like magic – so easy to use and you can wear them around the house. I have been feeling much better, my pain is 70-75% relieved. I would recommend these to every mom who has any kind of discomfort with breastfeeding.
Okay for warming, not cooling
These are much larger than I expected so I really only ended up using them when I was sitting or laying down. Also, I was not impressed with sticking them in the freezer, they were not that cold.
