CUTE, NOT PRACTICAL…
I RECEIVED THIS AS A SHOWER GIFT, IT’S SOOO CUTE AND WELL MADE. BUT, MY NEWBORN NEVER LIKED IT, IT DOESN’T BOUNCE, IT HAS NO LIGHTS, MIRRORS ETC. IT WAS A NICE PLACE TO PUT DOWN BABY IN THE KITCHEN, BUT DOESN’T TOLERATE IT FOR LONG. I WOULD RECOMMEND ONE A LITTLE MORE ENTERTAINING SO IT LASTS LONGER! SHE’S ONLY 10 WEEKS, AND I JUST ORDERED HER A LEAP FROG CHAIR THAT GOT GREAT REVIEWS ACROSS THE WEB!
My daughter is now 2 weeks old and actually loves this chair. The headpiece needed a little adjustment but she doesn’t slide in the chair and I feel really safe about letting her stay in it. Also, the backsupport seems to be really good for her. During her first week she was really fussy and this chair calmed her down almost every time, now she even sleeps in it for 2-3 hours. This is a great gift and truly a life-saver.
Cute & Comfy . . . does it all
I just got this seat for my 3 month old because the one we had ONLY vibrated and she lost interest. Plus it has a bar to hang toys and she is now at a stage where she reaches for them . . . the small bug is not reachable so I switched it with one from her Boppy Playmat. I move it from room to room and she sits and talk to me and her friends above her 🙂
I bought this bouncer a few days after we brought my son home from the hospital, because I wanted somewhere else to put him down besides the pack’n play. He’s 5 months old now and he’s sat in it everyday since we got it. I liked it because it’s nesty, and when he was very little it cradled him and he seemed able to snuggle down in the seat. It also has a nice wide base, so although it’s springy, it’s not going to tip over easily. The fabric is machine washable, and the fuzzy part stays soft even after you wash it. My son doesn’t really care about the sounds or vibrations, and after two months he didn’t care about the toys either (in fact, we’ve taken the toy bar off completely), but it gives him another view of the world and he likes to sit and watch the dog walk by.***Update: I am still very happy with this bouncer, however I would like to point out that it does not come apart for storage. Once you put it together it stays that way. If space is an issue for you, this might not be the best choice.
I received this as a gift and would highly recommend it for newborns. It’s definitely more about comforting than entertaining. The fabric is very soft and the seat is very deep and enveloping compared to most bouncers. It does bounce if baby gets energetic, but not on its own, however you can bounce it gently yourself with very little effort. It has a volume control for the music (soothing melodies) and sound effects (rain, water and something which sounds like a heartbeat) and a gentle vibration feature. The structure seems very stable and I can’t imagine it could tip easily, if at all. I have mostly used it for my little one to nap in during the day (never unattended). The heartbeat sound particularly seems very soothing for her and she’s able to snuggle down in the seat like she would in my arms. It allows me to put her down somewhere comforting for an hour and keep an eye on her so I can get a few things done, or sit down for a minute. I do wish the sound would go on a little longer – it shuts off after about ten minutes to save battery power – but other than that I wouldn’t change a thing.Edited 3/3/2008 to add: My daughter is now 7 months old and we still use this every day. She doesn’t sleep in it any more but uses it like a chair (it has two settings, reclining and upright). It has enough room for a few toys of her own, and she recently discovered the toy bar and loves the little bug, which she can now pull off with a bit of work. Now she’s older she enjoys the music though we still use the heartbeat sound for background if she’s having trouble dozing off for her nap. Also, in 7 months we have NEVER had to change the batteries. This bouncer really has been great and I’ll be very sad when she grows out of it.
Best bouncer out there
We had a Fisher Price Kick n Play bouncer for my son when he was a baby. There are many parents out there who can claim “The bouncer was our lifesaver!” or “The bouncer was the only place he’d sleep!” and so on.I was not one of those parents. He didn’t like the seat, he didn’t like the toys, he didn’t like the vibration. The bouncer was of *very* limited use for us and we got rid of it. We wanted another child but didn’t think we’d want a bouncer. Then I got pregnant with twins and it occurred to me that I was going to want/need as many ways to sit one down as possible. And ah… what’s nice about parenthood the second time around? You know enough to buy everything you can used, used, used. I had never seen this bouncer before but came across one on craigslist. It looked so much more comfy than the FP ones. The baby could actually sink into it and relax, like those big papasan chairs for adults. I managed to snag 2 of them, used, for about half the price of one new. Which means I learned right off the bat that the covers for these things wash up very well – good to know! This was an awesome seat for my babies for the first 2 months or so. They would sleep here most of the day. It held them all snuggled and happy… until they got to the rolling over or arching stages where they’d weasle their way out. (I am not a fan of the restraint on these because it seems like by the time you go through all the fuss to restrain the kid, they are angry and yelling their head off, so you have a screaming baby in a bouncer – not fun!) So we set the bouncers aside for a while… and then got them back out a couple months once they were a little more into sitting and looking… They’re also great when I need to give both babies a bottle at once. (No […….] is best remarks here – they get that, too. But I don’t make enough for two! 🙂 )The good – they’re comfy! They’re cute! They wash well and stay looking new. And they bounce – the FP papasan doesn’t bounce, seems silly to me. And they are sturdy, which I know because my 4yo son keeps sitting in them. They take a beating and pop right back up.The bad – the music and vibration is wasted on my kids. With all 3 of my kids, when I have put vibration on the bouncer I have gotten reactions ranging from concern to indifference – but it never soothed them. My son’s bouncer didn’t have music, but these do, and it does nothing for my girls. So you pay extra money for this C-battery-taking box you have to pop on and off to wash this thing… pointless. The toy bar is also pointless – it came off way too easily to begin with and then my son took one of them and started walking around the house whacking things with it so now it’s bent out of shape and come off it you just look at it wrong. You pay extra for these two things and you don’t need them.As a cozy, soft seat for baby, this is awesome. But the full price of new is absurd. Look for one used and you won’t be sorry! 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the price.
Great, Comfy Bouncer
I purchased this when my baby was one month old and wished I had it sooner. He’s three months now and still loves it. He’s napping in it right now. This is a baby that wants to constantly be held but he will happily play in his bouncer for 10 or so minutes at a time. It is a lifesaver.
