Son HATES IT and I HATE IT.
If I could return it I would but the box got wet. Since transitioning to this seat we hate going anywhere because our son can not tolerate this carseat. On top of the crying baby that now cries nonstop, It is very hard to tighten and loosen the straps. I’m not a wimp but getting any movement when you pull the strap to tighten the baby’s shoulder traps is almost impossible. I pretty much only travel with my husband now because I don’t feel confident in being able to this seat on my own it is that difficult.. Loosening the straps is just as bad. Apparently this is the case with the seats with the feature that clicks so you know it is tight enough. I worry about getting him out quickly in an emergency. With the other seat it wouldn’t have been a problem. As it stands, after owning this for around a month I still have the same difficulty using it. It has not gotten any easier. The fact of the matter is we went from having a content 7 month old who was happy in his infant carseat (Chicco kefit 30) and actually enjoyed car rides despite it being too small and cutting into his shoulders at the highest setting, to a 7 month old that cries the entire time he is in the seat unless someone sits in the back and distracts him with food. I never get to sit in the front when we travel any more and I won’t go any place with the baby on my own because the difficulty of use and the crying. We took the shoulder pads off and that helped some so he isn’t crying like he is in pain constantly and we reclined it as far as it goes and that also improved it as far as it goes. Traveling has been a nightmare with this seat. We even tried swapping back to the other seat and he was fine for traveling in that, he is just too big for it so it is not safe.I will be saving up to buy a different seat. I just feel I wasted my money on this. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE even if it is on sale. I got this for $190 on a lightening deal. I suspect it was a deal because of these issues.
I spent weeks researching and thinking over all the different car seat choices. after looking at several in Baby’s R Us, I went with this one for its great reviews, comfortable seat, safety features, and ease of use/adjustment.
Superior in many ways
Yes, this is a very $$$ carseat but it’s the TANK of carseat’s out there. It’s bulky, strudy, doesn’t shift at all, easy to install/adjust and remove the child from.Having an older model car without side airbags, this gives me peace of mind knowing my LO will be safe and secure should anything happen.Compared to others, this one is so much more impressive that it’s worth the expense. Plus, given that it can go to 70lbs, you’ll get your money’s worth.
LOVE this seat
I purchased this seat for my son when he outgrew his infant seat. I’ve been using Britax seats for more than 8 years, and have owned 3 Marathons and a Parkway.I chose this particular seat because of the side impact protection, the no-rethread harness (re-threading is a HUGE pain when you need to adjust the height of a FF seat!) and the click-safe indicator.I know that car seat safety "experts" say "no seat is safer than the other, the safest seat is one you use correctly every time."In my opinion, the no-rethread harness and the click-safe makes it that much more likely that you will easily be able to use the seat correctly every time, which makes it safer/better in my eyes.I have children at the bottom of the growth charts, so this will likely take my son through until he is ready for a booster.I love Britax seats as well as their customer service.
Very poorly designed! Don’t waste your time or money.
This is the most frustrating seat I’ve ever owned and I am a mother of 4. Trying to get my 14 month old daughter who only weighed 20 lbs into and out of this seat is enough to make you just want to stay home. What a complete nightmare. The straps don’t adjust properly and so you finally cram your poor child into the straps, buckle them, and pull the strap til you hear a click. They are nice and cozy and secure but you can’t loosen them up to get her out and then you have to cram her back into those tight straps again. Its terrible. We returned it after one day of errands! Get the Recaro Proride. Its so easily adjusted and comfy for my daughter getting in and out and she can even can keep her coat on.
Great Britax seat
We decided to go with Britax because of the steel frame and honeycomb structure for crash safety. I have been pleased with this seat and hopefully will never have to test the crash safety. It is important to check the snuggess of the 5 point harness even though you might have heard the click from the clicknsafe technology. Also beware that the harness does not get super loose when you loosen it to remove baby like some other harnesses do. This model is not as bulky as some of the more expensive ones which is nice. We use it in a Toyota carolla and it works well. Also, since it’s so important to have baby rear-facing as long as possible, it’s great that the rear-facing weight limit goes to 40 pounds, about the size of a three year old.
Perfect for compact cars!
I love everything about this carseat. We had to switch our 8 month old to a convertible because she was too long for the Britax B-safe (also highly recommend). This carseat leaves me without a doubt in my mind that she is safe. It has reinforced steel bars on both sides of her body and it is cushiony in the seat for her comfort and safety. It is hard enough to buckle and unbuckle that I never have to worry about her unbuckling herself. The straps are easy to adjust. The BEST part about this carseat for us is that it fits in our 2008 Honda Civic sedan with the seat pushed all the way back with about an inch to spare between the seat and the carseat. I love Britax products!
Love this car seat
We have had this car seat for about a month, recently switching from one of the Britax portable bucket-style car seats. I have consistently chosen Britax car seats because of their high safety ratings. Our baby is 7 months old and 22 lbs. He fits nicely in this car seat. It is much easier to fasten him into this car seat compared to our previous bucket-style car seat. The straps do not get twisted and I am not constantly pulling straps out from under my baby after I put him in the car seat. I also love that there is a clicking noise to let me know when the straps are tight enough as I was always worried about whether or not the straps were tight enough on our previous car seat. The car seat also fits perfectly in our Honda Accord. Two adults fit very comfortably in the backseat of our Honda Accord with the car seat in the middle spot. Totally worth the money!
Fits tight and secure in Subaru Outback
+Great Color+Easy to Clean+Velcro to hold straps to the side to place baby inside-Optional but cumbersome overhead straps to connect top of seat to cargo space upper attachement. Mostly a hastle to get baby in and out and avoid the strap. Other car models may not have an issue. This is an addition to the latch system.
I love this car seat!
I have the Brtiax Advocate and this one and I like the Pavillion so much better. My daughter always seems to fall asleep in the car and the cushions on the sides of her head are perfectly supportive unlike the Advocate. Each time I see her in the Advocate I feel like she’ll have a stiff neck when she wakes up. In this one I know her neck and head are comfortable. I love the pattern too!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this car seat!
I cannot say enough good things about this car seat. It has so many safety features that none of my other car seats have ever had. It is so sturdy and well built! Here are just a few reasons why I am in love! The bottom of the seat is rubber! (so it doesn’t slide around)The shoulder straps have an added strap that connects to the additional rubber chest pads(used in front facing)When tightening the straps, it clicks, letting you know when it is snug "enough"There is added padding everywhere (at least it seems that way)It has a steel frameThe car seat is not as wide as it looks, yet roomy. (if your child is pretty chunky, it would be a tight fit. However, I would think this is a good thing unless the child is uncomfortable.)The side impact things move up and down as your child’s height adjusts. The pink print is simply beautiful! Very girly yet classy. The seat also comes with tether straps in the back that are supposed to indicate when there has been too much wear and tear to the car seat ( i guess this would also depend on how much your are taking the seat in and out of the car.)I have owned graco and the newer evenflo convertible car seats and they have NOTHING on this seat. The quality is just so much better here and the evenflo doesn’t seem to have half as much padding or quality fabric as this britax symphony has.I was very reluctant to spend so much money on a car seat, but now, I wouldn’t purchase any other one. When it comes to your child’s life, I’d take the chance and trust that these extra features and quality will provide that added safety. (ps. I have 3 kids so money is tight, but this was well worth the extra cost.)
Great car seat!
This car seat is easy to use and is comfortable for my daughter. It works great – I would recommend it!
Wish I had chose the recaro!
The seat is very sturdy however for rear facing it’s a pain to get your cold in and out of I was debating between this one and a recaro I wish I had chosen the recaro. This seat also has Velcro patches to hold the straps out of the seat and they are more of a pain that a help I can’t put stockings on my daughter if she is going to have to get in the seat because they catch on the Velcro.
Great Car Seat
This is a great car seat – I bought it for my granddaughter and it met with my children’s approval (which was very important). I feel she is secure in this car seat.
Great car seat
Pros:Easy installation (used LATCH)Stable and sturdyCan be tethered forward and rear-facingEasy to adjust the harness height and strapsCover was easy to machine wash when it got dirty and re-attachEasy to tighten strapsStraps do not twistBottom buckle stays pointed outwards so it does not get stuck under the childCons:Not as much cushion/padding as I expected, although better than manyStraps are not easy to pull out/loosenI have had this car seat for over a year, since my baby was 8 months (currently 22 months). I liked that it had a higher height/weight limits for rear-facing and have not been disappointed. My biggest complaint is that while it is easy to adjust the height of and tighten the straps, it has not been easy to loosen the straps. They are very difficult to pull out. The car seat is also not small, it fits in a minivan just fine but using it rear-facing in a smaller vehicle may be a problem (especially with a tall passenger/driver). Great car seat for toddlers when the car seat is not moved frequently.
Easy to install, easy to use
This is our 3rd Britax purchase and couldn’t be happier with all of the products. We opted for the Click and Safe Snug Harness Indicator and it works well. The straps are long enough but you have to read the owner’s manual and when operated properly you can release enough of the straps to be fine- though they are shorter than our Boulevard. I tell all of my friends to buy Britax- they are a leader in safety and the extra cost is worth it to me.
So far I am very pleased with this seat. It looks and feels great. My daughter doesn’t have a problem sitting in it comfortably. It fits well in my compact sedan as forward facing. It has been easy to use and fairly easy to adjust. The click lock feature isn’t really anything to write home about but its fine. I found that it works best when you pull the tightening strap upwards. You still have to check each time because you may have made it too tight or it is still too loose. On a side note, I wish there was a cup holder included.
Doesn’t look dirty
I was worried the cream color would look dingy quickly. We’ve been using this seat daily for 2 months and it still looks brand new. Will update in a year…
Glad I Finally Went for It
I bought this as a second car seat for our second vehicle after buying a more "economical" seat for our primary vehicle. Everyone always told me Britax is the best, and now I know why. My other seat can’t hold a candle to my Britax. I love everything about it. The latch system connectors are SO easy to use. While most seats have latch hooks now, they are often easy to get on but hard to get OFF. They require you to push the side in, push in further, and pull out at just the right angle. This is a pain in the a$% to say the least. The Britax has a red button, just like a regular seat belt. Just push it and you’re done. This makes it much easier to move the seat into another car, such as when my mom visits. This seat is heavy, but that’s because it’s reinforced with metal rather than plastic like our other seat. We ended up putting this in our primary vehicle and relegated the other seat to the second vehicle. Amazon has this for a steal compared to other sites. Don’t hesitate to purchase this, it’s worth every penny. I’ll never buy anything else now that I know what I’ve been missing!
Very nice car seat
I chose this car seat because of the reputation of Britax and the excellent reviews. It has a lot of features for safety and ease of use. The seat also seems very comfortable. My daughter hated her infant car seat and would cry every time she was in it. She is much happier in this one. Aesthetically it is very nice also. I love the color. This seat is also a good size, definitely not the smallest seat out there but it fits fine in the back of my Honda Civic.I have two reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars. One, the only difference between the Boulevard and the Pavilion is the click & safe snug harness indicator which in my opinion is not worth the extra money. When I tighten it to the point where it clicks, it seems way to tight and I end up loosening it a bit. I keep it quite snug but when it clicks, it is digging into her neck. The other reason is when I loosen the harness to get her out, sometimes I pull it one way or the other a bit instead of straight out and then when I put her back in and tighten it, it is tighter on one side then the other. The only way I have found to fix this is to take her out and tighten it completely so that the straps are equal length. Not sure how they could fix this but it is annoying.Overall, a very good carseat. I would buy it again.
I truly do love many features of this car seat and do not have another convertible to compare it to, but I do find that the straps do not get a loose as I would like when getting my child in and out of the seat. Otherwise I love everything else about it and know my child is safe in it!
Love this carseat
We have three of this car seat, two in my truck for my toddler and nine month old, and one in my husband’s truck. We love them.We haven’t had any strap issues like in some negative reviews. The straps are easy for us to adjust whether they’re wearing light t-shirts or heavy winter parkas. We also haven’t had any issues with the straps being too short. These car seats fit great in our vehicles both rear and forward facing. That being said, both my husband and I drive large vehicles. I can’t speak to how they may fit in a car or small SUV. I can use one rear facing, one forward facing and still have room for a middle schooler across the middle row of my vehicle.
Got it on sale
Love it, installs super easy. Didn’t work rear facing for my daughter she has long legs, I wish it had a built in cup holder.
Love it so far!!
We have bought two of these car seats, one for my 7 1/2 old girl and one for my 4 yr old girl! We love it so far!First of all, I really like the package that these car seats came in. the box is very easy to open and it’s not hard to pull out the car seat. You know some packaging could be too tight and it takes two people to pull out the products? I took it out all by myself! The color is lovely. it’s not too bald, so at a glance it might look at little bit like an old car seat…but I like it that it’s a soft lovely color that won’t be too bright…the fabric is very soft and I like it that it comes with strap cover which prevent the straps from cutting into your child’s neck! I have to say though the cover is pretty thick so when I put my 7 mo in the car seat I had to take them off because it’s hard for me to snug the strap over her shoulder…luckily I have a set that’s soft that I can use for now…As other users review, the installation manual is a bit confusing, but if you search Britax on Youtube they do have videos to show you how to install the car seat both rear-facing and forward-facing using either seat belt or latch. Once I watched the video it’s all clear how to install. We have a 2011 Toyota Sienna mini van and I use the latch system to install both car seat, one rear-facing, one forward-facing. It took me less than 15 mins to install each one and I don’t have to use any noodle or towel to support the base. they are very sturdy once installed and I feel very safe for my children.I haven’t tried taking out the cover to wash yet, but it’s always to good to know I can take it out and wash it when I want to…and there’s Youtube video showing you how to take out the cover as well!!Overall I am very happy with the products so far and my girls are excited to sit in their new car seats!!
We absolutely love our carseat
We absolutely love our carseat. This thing is a tank and I am positive if in the case of an accident, our two year old is in good hands. We actually moved her over to this from her infant bucket seat at 12 months and now at 27 months she is still comfortably growing into this convertible seat. I’m sure she will be in this until she is 3 or more. Our daughter is tall and long, but skinny (only 25 pounds) and this just seems to be the perfect seat for her.Like I said, it is a monster of a seat and it takes a lot of space. But that works ok in our sedan and it works just as well rear facing as it does front facing. The fabric is strong and sturdy and holds up to toddler stains, A+ for our dirty toddler!
Great car seat
I love this car seat. It was cute and on sale so I bought it, knowing I wanted a Britax. I wasn’t sure what the HUGS Chest Pads were, but now car seats without them just don’t look safe to me. They really help, at least at first at a smaller size, make sure the chest clip is in the proper location. It will help parents learn where the chest clip belongs when the child gets taller. The car seat was easy to install. My daughter seems comfortable in it – she only complains when she absolutely doesn’t want to go/be in the car. The velcro to hold the straps open when the child is out and the buckle being stiff to stay out really make getting her in the car seat much easier. She also can’t open the buckle/clip yet, which I only see as a positive – she can’t escape. My daughter is 2, 20 lbs and 33" long, and fits well rear-facing. She will be in this a long time.
