The best

I’ve tried many bottle brushes and this is my favorite. The nipple brush is probably the best part. Like all bottle brushes that are 2 in 1 the handle does come loose while cleaning bottles. But they all do and this one not as bad like the dr. Browns. Wish they would fix that design problem but I can deal with it.

Compromise

With this brush you have to keep the attachment part connected, otherwise you won’t be able to reach the bottom of your 8 ounce bottles. Then you have to undo it to scrub your nipples. It’s annoying, but worth it for the level of cleaning that these bristles do. The bristles do wear out quickly, though.

Best Bottle Brush!

My husband and I both prefer this brush to our previous option (Philips AVENT BPA Free Bottle Brush, Blue), which we had gotten based on stellar reviews. This Playtex brush was a lark during an Amazon sale, but is so much better! While the bigger brush may seem unwieldy, the bristles are extremely flexible. We use the bigger brush for washing: Playtex bottles (Drop-Ins); for Medela Breastshields; Lids & Connectors (from thePlaytex Drop-Ins System Breast Milk Storage Kit); & the colored connectors from the Drop-Ins bottles (that attach the nipple to the bottle itself). We use the nipple brush for not only the nipples for the Playtex bottles, but also: Medela Breastshield Connectors; Medela Valves; and Medela Membranes. I hope that helps give some perspective on the sizes/flexibility of the brushes.

Good idea, bad quality

I was really excited when our local stores started to carry these bags. They are more rigid than other bags I’ve used, which I love, and the easy pour spout is ingenious. However, in the first 10 bags I used, I had 3 that leaked – immediately. Was very disappointed with the quality and will not be purchasing them again.

leaked milk

I love my Ameda purely yours pump and I have been pumping into bottles, then transferring the milk to Lansinoh bags and storing them in the freezer and fridge. Grandma then transfers the milk into bottles or drop in liners when she feeds my son. It just seems like too much transferring. I wonder about lost nutrients, and also having to wash/throw away things. So I thought these sounded like an awesome answer to my problem. First time I used them I was on my way home from work and noticed drips from my cooler. Never did I think a bag could leak like this. It looked like it was from the seal, although when I checked it, it seemed tightly sealed to me. But all 4 ounces formed a trail from my small office fridge, down the hall and steps, outside on the sidewalk, an in my car. It was maddening! I threw the rest of the bags out because I wasn’t going to risk that happening again. And up until that time I had never had a leak from a Lansinoh bag. I know I was careful to close the bag, but if you have to triple check, then it isn’t worth it to me. I was out at a store and bought the Medela pump and store bags like these. Then I read those reviews, and they are even worse! So I will return those and just use bottles and wash them and transfer to my bags like I have been doing. And by the way, I did just get my first leak from a Lansinoh bag too! This was a tiny little pin point hole in the bottom and was leaking very, very slowly into my fridge. I don’t know if I caused it from my cooler or moving them around in the fridge. They have that good double seal mechanism so I know the seals are good. But I’ll be keeping my eye on the them for a while to make sure this isn’t a re-occurrence.

ziplock seal isn’t great

This is the only breast milk storage bags I’ve used so I don’t really have anything to compare it too. But my biggest complaint is that the zipper seal doesn’t seal tight very well and leaks often. Because of that, I will probably buy a different kind next time.As other users have commented, the volume measurements are totally off because of the way the bag sits, but that wasn’t really a problem for me because I pumped into bottles, saw the measurements, then poured it into the bags.

Elmo bowl but not as pictured

Just fyi, the bowl I got was not what is pictured here. I got a dark blue bowl, partly translucent with a green trim and a picture of Elmo building a sand castle. It is still cute and my son likes it because it is Elmo, but is not quite what I was expecting.

The only nipple you should buy

If you talk to lactation consultants and speciailsts, they will all tell you to buy this nipple. The flow is slow, so your baby doesn’t get addicted to the bottle! Our baby has been alternating between the bottle and breastfeeding for a month now, both are still going strong! They sell larger flow nipples, but as “The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding” says, it isn’t as if your breast’s flow increases during your child’s life, why should the bottle? Let the baby eat slow!

best nipple for breastfeeding

I tried atleast 10 nipples/bottles before finding this one. I was breastfeeding my newborn but she was going to need to take a bottle on occassion when I was not available. After having her choke and sputter with many different nipple and crying and being frustrated for atleast 3 weeks, I found a dad whose wife had similar problems. He recommended these nipples. It worked like a charm. She took it on the 2nd attempt. It is very difficult for breastfeeding babies to use a bottle that is flowing too fast. I dont know what we would have done without this nipple. She did quickly move up to the level 1’s (around 3 mo) and to the level 2 around 5 mo, but this made taking a bottle possible for her.

perfect for my newborn

My baby girl was full-term. She is a slow eater and with the stage one nipple the milk was constantly spilling out of the sides and bottom of her mouth. I couldn’t find these preemie nipples in ANY of the local stores and I needed them right away. I paid extra for next day delivery and so glad I did…worth it! Now she has no problems. 🙂 (BTW, I first tried “Playtex Vent-Aire”, as recommended by my lactation consultant, and it wasn’t noticeably slower to me.)

Buy another brand

I was so dissapointed in these. I bought the Green Sprouts play cups for my bathtub, and my baby and I love them! I thought I’d love the snack cups. They are all scratched looking and rough on the outside. Apparently they will disintegrate if you wash them in dishwasher too many times, so that makes me wonder how long they’ll hold up being handwashed. Love that they are healthy, but wish I had not bought them.

You can find something equal that will last longer for the same price.

I bought these originally because they were on promo with another item I wanted to purchase so I got them at a discounted price. But as I look at the now they really aren’t worth the price. You can get something equal that will last longer for a cheaper price. These can’t be thrown in the dishwasher and if you are a busy mom with not a lot of time for proper care, they will fall apart. I get that they are supposed to be disposable and healthy for the environment but I guess I don’t really think about throwing containers away… I would rather just buy plastic and wash it.

Just recyle your old baby jars, seriously

These pop right open if you accidentally overfill them (meaning, fill over around 3/4 full), or even just get a little food near the lip, once they freeze. And then you can’t get them reclosed, and the food gets gross, and you have to use it immediately or dump it. And you can’t microwave anything in these. It got old very fast, gently heating the food in a bowl of hot water (which takes forever).Instead, I purchased six jars of (organic, etc) baby food, fed that to my kid, and now I have nice, durable, glass jars that can bear dishwashing and microwaving. If you make sure the food doesn’t touch the lid, you can be sure no BPA or whatnot leaches into your food.

Perfect sized meals

These cubes are quite handy. When my son was first eating solids, I was making my own purees and using these, they are a little larger than a 6 month old’s feeding size, but came in very handy once he started eating larger portions. I use these for his school lunches (he’s 14 months now) and they are easy to wash, and the lid is connected so you don’t have to worry about it getting lost.Tip: for earlier ages, using an ice cube tray for baby purees was more beneficial for me. The feeding size of the cubes were perfert.

I use these little cubes all the time. I bought 2 sets and about to buy 2 more. I wish they made them bigger, like 4oz containers. Just make sure when you fill them to follow the fill line otherwise when the stuff freezes the lids will open up and your food will get freezer burned.

Nice try, but doesn’t compete with regular toddler drinking cups…

Let’s face it, parents with toddlers have long been waiting for that magic sippy cup to come along. One that doesn’t have 10 pieces to take apart and wash, one that
• really
• does not leak, one that your child will accept, and one that helps teach them how to drink like a big kid. This is what we want! When I first saw the concept behind this AVENT “My First Grown Up Drinking Cup” I thought, here, this might finally be it!It’s not. While I was originally very excited to try it out, I was very disappointed with it’s performance. The design seemed like a very good idea, a sort of plate in the center of the cup gets pushed back (very easily) by the nose or upper lip when drinking, this breaks the rubber “seal” allowing liquid to pass through. The child can drink from any angle on the cup. So, as a reviewer I couldn’t just give it to my 3-year-old daughter to try out, I wanted to try the flow for myself. I drank from this cup myself, and was frustrated! I don’t want to give it to my child because it’s a very dissatisfying flow. No one likes to have liquid slowly leaked into their mouth when they’re thirsty and really need a drink! My 3-year-old and 11-month-old like to gulp it down. So I really don’t think this drinking/sippy cup works well in that respect. As far as leaking, upon it’s first use, I tipped it upside down over the sink, and a slow but steady drip came from the cup. It is not leak proof. Furthermore, seeing as it takes very little pressure to push back the sealing mechanism, this cup could very easily create a decent sized spill if it leaned against a toy the wrong way. This is at least one thing most modern sippy cups have going for them, they need at least some suction to spill a true puddle. Finally, after giving the product some thought as far as it’s “training” capabilities, I decided there’s no point to a drinking cup like this. Here’s the thing, your toddler or young child is
• still
• , at some point, going to have to learn to drink from a real adult glass. There is no way around it, this doesn’t teach a child not to spill, it doesn’t teach a child not to pick up a glass recklessly, or how to learn to balance a glass in the hand so that liquid stays put. So the entire concept of this being like a “real cup” doesn’t mean much to me. At some point, all children have to learn the motor skills it requires to balance a glass in their hands without spilling, and like it or not, that’s going to require some spillage and some messes. The only thing sippy cups or even “drinking cups” like this teach a child is how to drink from that exact cup. There is no magical training cup that can teach them to know how to handle a real glass. That said, seeing as this cup does still leak and provides very slow flow, I can’t see how this product could possibly be better than your standard sippy cup out there. If you’re looking for leak proof, I say go with one of those Nuk sippy cips that come with caps–because there is no true leak-proof sippy cup (not that I’ve been able to locate yet–and we’ve seemingly tried them ALL!) And if you want to try and teach your child to drink from a “grown up drinking cup”, skip this and hunt down an unbreakable mug or cup with handles and start giving your child water in it to practice. I can’t recommend wasting your money on this product.

Serves no purpose, not worth it

I have tried dozens of different sippy, straw and trainer cups and this is the worst one so far.My 18 month old got VERY frustrated with this cup. I tried it myself as well, and unless you really press your nose into the plate in the center of the cup, the flow is very minimal. Not only that, but I think it actually hinders the transition to a normal cup, because one of the biggest hurdles is knowing how far back to tip the cup. With this cup, you can tip it upside down, but unless you press the plate, nothing is coming out. Also, like other avent sippies, the valve is multiple pieces that should really be taken apart at each use and washed unless you want mold growing in there – even with just water. They say not to use this cup with juice either, and I think milk would really get in the nooks and crannies as well.So at least its leakproof then, right? Sort of. It’s true that it doesn’t leak if the plate isn’t pressed, but it doesn’t take much to press the plate a little and allow a slow dribble. For that reason I wouldn’t use it as an accident-proof cup for in the car or other unsupervised use anyway. A straw cup works much better for that purpose. If you’re restricting to water anyway, spend a couple weeks transitioning to a regular cup and save yourself the hassle of another unnecessary “transitional” stage. Sure, there will be some spills, but it will be over faster, and you can use a straw cup (which would still have adult applications later) for the times you need something less messy.

Not my favorite

I wanted to love this cup. I am so sick of the piles of sippy cups and sippy cup parts, that I was hoping to find “the one”. This cup was not it for us. First off, I miplaced the instruction booklet on how to assemble the cup. No big deal, right? Wrong. The cup assembly is definitely not intuitive, I thought I had it set up right and tested it out myself, ending up pouring water all over myself. Of course I decided to test the new cup out right in the middle of dinner, you know, that time of day when everybody is cranky, hungry, and tired, what a mess. Turns out I was able to get the correct assembly instructions from Avent’s website, but really?!? Of all the sippy cups that we have purchased I have never needed to use an instruction manual. Once we got the cup assembled, it was okay. My little guy did not take to it, but I will keep trying.

No more lost pacifiers

If you have a little one, you’ve probably experienced the frustration of constantly falling (and sometimes getting lost) pacifiers. In comes the pacifier holder to the rescue. It’s a cost an inexpensive and simple solution to a nagging problem. The hook clips on to the baby’s dress and the pacifier can be looped in through the other end.The only drawback; My daughter ends up sucking the strap sometimes if she misses her pacifier, can’t really blame the manufacturer for that.Overall, the product quality is good. The strap is soft and washable, however, the clasp is slightly on the looser end and requires a thicker piece of clothing to hang on to. It may not clasp on to a thin summer dress, but clasps easily on a bib or other thicker clothing. (Since my daughter drools enough to flood the prairies, the bib is a constant feature, without that it may be tough to find something to clasp on to in the summer).

Plastic Clip Makes these 5 star compared to metal ones

We had the Boogin Head clips for a while and I love the designs and they never could be pulled off by our baby. But, the metal clips rust easily (I was washing them daily because of day care) and I started to notice that as my baby got older, she was intrigued by the metal clip and would suck on it. So, while these plastic clip paci holders don’t hold quite as strong (if you pull hard enough they do come off), I feel much better knowing that she won’t be putting rusty metal in her mouth if she grabs for the clip. So far, my 6 month old hasn’t pulled the clip off her clothing yet either and so it does the job.

Good idea, hard to see through

I purchased these bottle sleeves to protect the glass bottles I purchased. Although a good idea, once on, it is near impossible to see the ounce marks on the bottle. You would have to fill the bottle with water before putting the sleeve on to prepare it and once it is on, if your baby doesn’t drink the whole thng, you have to twist the sleeve and try to see through one of the holes to see how much s/he ate or take it off again. It became such a pain in the butt for us that we no longer use them. Maybe if your baby consistently eats the same amount of ounces this would not be a concern, but for us it was.

Works well but not sure if it helps with spit up/gas

Some people swear by these, but they didn’t help my newborn with spit up/gas. And it is a lot of cleaning to clean all the parts if it isn’t doing any better for the baby. Not sure if the bottle system helps with nutrient absorption like it claims, maybe it does. If you use these and want to wash parts in dish washer I recommend the basket that specifically holds them. My baby is now several months old and I find myself preferring the Lifefactory bottles, but these are worth a try if you have a baby with gas/spit up issues.
