I wouldn’t recommend these unless you have a much older baby or need to add a lot of cereal to bottles.
Too Much Flow
These size 3 Y-cut nipples are too high flow for my 7-month old still. I’m not sure if I will ever use them. If you have the need for very high flow – this is the right nipple for you, but my baby drowns if I use these, even the few times I put cereal in the bottle.
Highly recommend them! I had used them for a year and a half and just bought more for next baby, they work great!
not a big deal.
I thought the hole would be neater than me doing it myself but its pretty much the same just neater…. and without the worry of cutting too big.
Lasted about 2 Months
Dr. Brown’s cereal nipples are one of the only Y-cut nipples on the market! They fit any standard bottle, although they also make wide neck y-cut nipples. When you are advised to thicken your baby’s breastmilk or formula with cereal, it is so much easier to use these nipples than to try to cut your own Y in a regular nipple. My only complaint is the nipples don’t last long and we had to buy replacement ones after a couple of months.
We love dr browns!
These are great nipples! Beware that they are fast flowing and might take some getting used to! We have always used his products and have never had a problem!
Great item/awesome price
These nipples are great! Thankfully I discovered these y cut bc I ruined plenty of perfectly good nipples cutting them myself!
We like the fact that Dr. brown nipples are not that expensive to replace. Also they do not wear out that quickly and retain their soft shape. Our lil guy was on level 1 for the longest time then went through level 2 & 3 fairly quickly then ended up at level 4 by the time he was 15mo. Y cut we bought but hardly used; maybe more useful if you make your baby’s bottle thicker with rice cereal or alike.
Great For Smoothies
I felt that the tip was cut too widely for just rice cereal in my daughter’s bottles – we could just use the level 3 for that.Instead, I make smoothies in the morning with 1/2 formula and 1/2 pureed fruit (usually bananas with the immersion blender). Those come out at a great pace, and it’s a great way for her to start the morning with a full belly. As for as the quality – top notch, as always from Dr. Brown.
Perfect for rice bottles.
My daughter has acid reflux. Her pediatrician suggested giving her a little rice cereal mixed with breast milk. It’s a little thick but not too bad. This y cut nipple is perfect for her to get the mixture out without having to suck so hard. I love Dr. Browns bottles!
Gets the job done
We bought these because my son has really bad acid reflux, so we are adding rice cereal to pumped milk to make the milk thicker and therefore harder to spit up. These work fine. My son likes the Born Free nipples better – I think he likes a wider nipple than these, which are slimer. They work fine, are easy to clean with the Dr. Brown’s nipple brush.
Not easy to clean without damaging
I bought a few of these and when cleaning them I wasn’t as gentle as I apparently should have been and the nipple cleaning brush I have goes right through the tip of these. They ended up splitting the top and I had to throw them away because the liquid would come out so fast.
Great for thickened formula
These Y-cut nipples are great if you thicken your baby’s formula with baby oatmeal, like I do. I use these with the Playtex Kinder-Grip bottles (which are standard-neck bottles), but they can be used with pretty much any standard-neck bottle (not wide-neck). My baby needed this for reflux purposes and most nipples get clogged from thickened formula. These nipples work great with thickening; however, they do need to be replaced approximately once a month.
great for cereal bottles
i use this nipple when i feed my son he gets cereal in his bottles, tho its not recommended, he loves it and we didnt start till he was 4 months old and this nipple works great for it.
