Very useful but not very durable.

Pros:- This pitcher is exceptional as far as reducing foam. Similac Sensitive is horribly foamy and I wound up scooping out the 3/4″ of foam that formed when I would mix bottles individually. This pitcher, when used properly, does away with that problem completely.- Very convenient to mix a day’s worth of formula and just have it in the fridge.- Although the mechanism comes across as “flimsy”, it really isn’t. It works fine and the parts are meant to be loose-fitting.Cons:- As far as I can tell, this cannot be sterilized either with boiling water or in the microwave.- After about 4 mos of use, my pitcher has started to warp slightly. I am surprised, as I never put it in the dishwasher so it’s not exposed to high heat. Since it’s now slightly misshapen, the fit of the lid is no longer true and I experience leaks both during mixing, when the level of the liquid is too close to the top of the pitcher and splashes upward, as well as during pouring. Drag.I’m here to buy a second one. Not thrilled that I’m having to do this, and at 6 mos of age, my baby’s probably going to require a third one before the bottle feeding’s done. Not the end of the world but for this transgression, the pitcher loses a couple of stars.

Good for foaming baby formula

We bought two of these mixers for our twins several months ago. They work well for foaming baby formula, such as thickned formula for babies with reflux. Remember, when mixing formula that tends to foam, do not raise mixing blades above the liquid level in the container because it sucks air into the formula and causes more foaming. The impellers from our first two mixers broke (plastic piece attaching impeller blades to shaft)after a few months of use, but we just bought two more mixers! It should see us through the rest of formula feeding (another few months).

Wish I bought it sooner!

Honestly, if you’re formula feeding or supplementing, get this pitcher! I waited until our baby was 2 months to look for a solution to having to mix so many bottles. This was one of our absolute best baby purchases. Another reviewer said that the measurements were wrong, so I poured water in using the bottles we were already using, and sure enough, the measurements were totally accurate. My only tiny pet peeve is that it says it holds a certain amount, but when you put the powder in it adds to the volume. If you try to use the maximum amount, you can’t really stir it without it spilling. But we can still make a whole day’s formula needs in one shot which is an absolute dream! It also really helped to cut down on the air bubbles in the formula and our daughter’s gas is a lot better (although we’ve done multiple things to help that so I can’t say it’s specifically because of this pitcher, but I’m sure it helped!).

Sorry I fell for the hype

Everybody raves about this mixer and how it so easily removes lumps from formula. Perhaps that is true for large quantities, but it didn’t apply to the smaller quantities we needed to make (4-8oz). The mechanism is flimsy and hard to clean. Our money was far better spent on BlenderBottles. Once you mix formula with them, you won’t turn back.

Great for premixing and gets the ‘air’ out to prevent gas.

I LOVE this pitcher. I have twin girls and formula is pricey. I started out buying the powdered similac (sensitive) and everytime I would mix it, it would get bubbly. The girls would drink from their bottles (and I have ones that are supposed to prevent gas bubbles from being ingested) there would be such an accumulation of bubbles just from them sucking on the nipple of the bottle to drink the formula. The similac sensitive takes longer to mix with water and settle. It became too much and the girls had gas problems and started to get fussy. So I wound up switching to liquid. That fixed the gas and fussiness, but liquid formula when buying for twins, gets really expensive!I bought two of these mixers. One for me and one for my sister who has a newborn as well.I’m happy to say that this basically solved my air bubble problem with the powdered formula. I now mix up 32 oz worth of the formula (prepared) and put it in my fridge. It sits for a period of time and settles well. There are NO CLUMPS at all when using this mixer. The lid turns to lock in place, and it closes the area you pour out of. You open it by twisting again.I really do love it. Something so simple makes me happy :-)I know a lot of people use powdered formula b/c it’s easy. You don’t have to warm up the bottle or anything. But if you use powdered formula with this, it has to be used within 48 hrs, and you have to refrigerate it once you prepare it in this bottle. So if your baby doesn’t drink cold formula, you have to warm the bottle. Not a prob for us since we are used to doing that with the liquid formula.

Sturdy, does the job well

This pitcher makes a big batch of formula and mixes it up well with little effort. The handles are sturdy, and it’s fairly easy to break down and put in the dishwasher. I stopped using it after a while, though, because it’s easier to make individual bottles with warm water instead of trying to heat up refrigerated formula.

Great for preparing large amounts of formula

This is one of those things that seemed unnecessary to me but I was tired of shaking and shaking and shaking bottles trying to get the lumps out. This pitcher is a lifesaver, especially with twins. I prepare large batches of formula each night and for some reason it’s much more palatable to them. This pitcher gets it nice and smooth and thicker like the ready made stuff. Highly recommend.

So nice to have!

Much easier than buying a pitcher from the grocery store and shaking it! Plus, I love that it keeps the formula from foaming up. Just really great to have!

Best Baby gear product!

I had not anticipated having to use formula with my twins, but at 6 weeks we needed to. This pitcher has saved my sanity and is still holding strong at 7 months! I needed to be able to mix a day’s worth of formula at a time and this was the perfect fit! I love that it reduces the bubbles. You feel like you are getting your money’s worth of your formula because it doesn’t make bubbles like shaking the bottle does! I needed a solution with fewer bubbles because my daughter had terrible problems with gas when she was younger.

We have 2 of these, 1 in use and the 2nd soaking at all times! An absolute must to mix formula thoroughly and with less foaming and bubbles for baby!

Convenient Way to Pre-Make Bottles

I use this pitcher every night to pre-make bottles for the evening and next day for day care. It makes mixing a batch a whole lot easier. It is also easy to take a part to clean and I like that it is dishwasher-safe (top shelf only) for sterilization purposes. My pediatrician says that the dishwasher sterlizes bottles so I’m using that same theory for sterilizing the pitcher. I just put the smaller pieces (handle and stem) in a dishwasher basket that I also use for bottles. The only piece I don’t find useful is the blue ring on the stem that you can move up and down. Apparently you use it to prevent the handle going up too far thus preventing more air in the formula. I found it got in the way so I just put it at the lowest point on the stem and let the handle go up as far as it can (makes it easier to mix in my opinion). I haven’t had any issues with it being too foamy or my baby being more gassy from air in the formula.A couple tips:1. If you have to make more than 30 oz, I’d do it in two or more batches. With the addition of the formula powder, any more would make it harder to mix. The powder stays up top because the blue mixer piece can’t reach up there and thoroughly mix and the powder gets clumpy and sometimes the water overflows. I found out the hard way 🙁 and ended up having to dump out the whole batch (too much water leakage) and start over. Save yourself the wasted formula and do smaller batches. I just rinse it out in between the batches since I’m not touching it on the inside and am making one batch immediately after the other.2. When you make over 20 oz, you can actually use less water/formula to make the batches because all the extra powder scoops ends up making more oz with less water. For example, right now my daughter is drinking 36 ounces a day. I only actually use 34 ounces of water (in 2 batches – 20 oz and 14 oz, see tip #1) and enough scoops for 34 ounces (17 scoops). All that powder with the water ends up making 36 ounces exactly.

Must Have For Reflux Formulas!

We’ve been using this product everyday since late February with no problems at all. As mentioned by other reviewers, the stopper that’s supposed to control how far the blade goes up is junk. But, you don’t need it! Just pay attention and you’ll be fine. Our daughter has reflux and we add 3 formuala scoops’ worth of rice cereal to each of her 5 oz bottles. We make 5 bottles’ worth at a time which means: 25 ounces of water, 12 1/2 scoops of formula and 15 scoops of rice. This pitcher mixes it with no problem. It’s been washed over and over again. Usually, we just fill it with water and soap and use the mixer to clean itself. I’ve also put it through the dishwasher at least 20 times with no problem.

Do not buy!!!

I am so upset about this product!! It mixes very well BUT and its a BIG BUT!!!….I noticed that the plastic was shredding along the shaft and probably getting into the baby’s formula! God only knows if and how much my baby has ingested the plastic shreds. Its very fine shreds so you wont notice it unless you really look. Its from the friction of the shaft twisting against the top hole. Bad design….doesnt matter if this thing is BPA free when the plastic shreds off!!!

Does as it says!

This is a great easy to use product! We use the Similac sensitive which caused the formula to become very foamy, but here it reduces foam and completes the mixture throughout. Must buy!

how did I live w/o this???

I wasnt happy when I had to use formula and mixing it just added insult to injury. This pitcher is a dream. I can make 32oz in seconds, w/o air. This is a MUST have with twins. I would not advise making more than 32oz or it spills.

Mixes well and makes life a little easier

Makes mixing formula easier and quicker with the larger volume and mixer. All plastic parts, so the pitcher is already scratched up after a few uses, but functionality wise it still works well. Not the best for traveling, but that’s what the larger bottles are for once the formula get mixed.

Great!

I use a combination of Enfamil gentlease and AR and when I shake the bottles I find there are clumps so I got this mixing pitcher. Since using this pitcher not only are there no lumps but there are no air bubbles. You do not want to fill this pitcher past the 32 ounce mark with water, since once you add the formula the pitcher will be completly full. I find it is easy to wash and reuse.

Excellent timesaver!

I love this- it does a fabulous job mixing formula and I like that I can tailor bottles much better (if I feel our baby wants only 1 oz more, I’m not wasting that second ounce, for instance). The stigma against bottle feeding is very high where I live, however I’ve been absolutely grateful for wonderful products such as this, and I would highly recommend this to anyone who feeds their baby more than two bottles of formula a day.

Waste of Money.

This pitcher is very small, and feels cheaply made. I don’t love it or use it. I feel like a rubbermaid pitcher would have been better plus it can be repurposed. Don’t waste your money.

Unnecessary Necessity

The first time I looked at this I thought it was a waste of money… people have been preparing bottles for years without the need of a pitcher. However, as our baby started to eat more & we needed to use more formula in each bottle, I noticed how poorly the formula was dessolving and decided it was time to try this thing. With the exception of two flaws, I now love it. I combine enough water and formula for one day’s worth of feedings, pull on the handle for two minutes, place in the fridge, and voila! just pour in a bottle, heat, & serve! Totally worth the money to no longer listen to my child scream at me and curse my name in baby talk while I frantically prepare a bottle. The two flaws are 1) I have to wash it so frequently because I use it so often (the flaw there is my laziness), and 2) the little stopper moves around on the stem. If you mix too quickly, the stopper moves and you end up mixing in a lot more air than you would if the stopper were to stay in place. The stopper thing isn’t a huge deal if you pay attention to it while you are mixing, but I took a star off because of it since I’m usually not paying attention because I am also trying to take care of a baby.

Nice to have a pitcher made in the fridge

my little one doesn’t take very large bottles sometimes, this is great because i only pour in a little at a time and don’t have to toss out formula that she doesn’t drink. also if i take too long making her bottles she has a fit (thankfully she doesn’t require that the bottles be warm). also we use a formula that doesn’t mix very well in the bottles….so this is so nice !! less clogged nipples.i am glad it has the ounce markings on the side of the pitcherI don’t much care for the handle of the mixer, i’ve only cursed at it once so far though.

GOD’S GIFT TO PARENTS WHO USES AND STORES PREMIX FORMULA

A must have for parents who stores premix formula.PROS:Pitcher will hold 32 oz of formula (It has a capacity of 40 oz but may not be ideal to use to full capacity). This formula pitcher has served us well. It’s best for parents who usually prepares 2-4 bottles of formula at night so it’ll save them time preparing and mixing formulas in between feedings at dawn. Just pour and warm.Simple to use. Just pull and push the mixer handle on top of the pitcher several times.CONS:None at the moment.

Fantastic item for mixing formula

I used this daily and loved it! I would mix the formula to fill up the bottles for the day. Really the best thing ever. So much better than mixing formula in bottles and shaking it. Very little bubbles and it will mix well. This is a MUST have for formula fed babies!!

I wouldn’t want to formula feed without it

Great idea, but cheap plastic. It worked really well for about a week, then the plastic ball on top of the shaft that attaches to the handle broke when I was taking it apart for cleaning.edit: I bought this again for use with my second child, and now just put the whole lid/mixer pole assembly in the dishwasher as one piece. Having to mix a bottle every four hours or having to mix a pitcher with a fork or whisk is a pain, this makes the whole process much easier especially when you want four ounces of formula at 3 am

Great idea but flimsy.

This pitcher is a great idea and it does mix formula well, its just built really flimsy. I’m just waiting for this thing to break and hoping that it doesn’t. It’s really small in person, compared to the picture, but it does hold a full 32 ounces. Its worth giving this pitcher a try if you’re getting really foamy or bubbly formula with other mixing methods.

Great and ideal if you have to use formula

great and ideal for formula use easier to make a few bottles at one time then trying to make one at every feeding only draw back is being careful not to overflow it i tryed making up to 40oz but had a problem with it spilling out while trying to mix i only make about 24-30 oz and don’t have problem with spilling anymore while mixing ps i tryed to go super cheap and just mix formula in a quart jug fyi it got super clumpy in this mixer it has not been clumpy once

Very helpful

I make 6 oz bottles ahead of time to send to daycare. To avoid spills I make 28oz rather than the 32oz that is labeled for. That seems to be the max. I pump it a couple of times not too hard and not too slow until it reaches the top. I mix it again right before I pour it. The mix is homogenous and hardly any air.

A MUST HAVE if you use Good Start

Works amazing well. My already super sore arms are so thankful that I don’t have to shake each 8oz bottles for 5 minutes waiting for the Gerber proteins to dissolve. Also as promised, the formula comes out far less aerated as well… and mixes super quick too. Fantastic product, even if made out of cheesy plastic!

Must have for formula-fed babies

I don’t know what I would do without my formula pitchers (I have 2 – one in use and one clean and waiting to be filled). I have twins that are formula-fed and go through almost 2 pitchers of formula a day. It saves so much time to have the formula ready to be poured. The pitcher is marked to hold 40oz but I have found that mixing more than 30oz is not feasible. At 30oz, you can carefully put the plunger/mixer in and mix the formula, but more than that and the powder will spill out the top when you mix it. It also has a little trouble mixing thicker formula like Enfamil AR, but it can be done.
