Nice Product With Some Flaws

Prior to getting this swing and rocker device, we’ve tried (and liked)Fisher-Price Cradle ‘N Swing, My Little SnugabunnyandFisher-Price Infant-To-Toddler Rocker. This Graco product seems to combine these two devices into one, which can be a great space-saver, although it (right now) costs more than the other two combined. Overall, I like this swing, but there are a few features that seem inferior to the Snugabunny.Pros:This swing, as well as swings in general, are a godsend to parents who are trying to calm and sooth theirThe seat looks and feels very comfortable. The unisex design is suitable for both boys and girls, so you can use the same swing with children of different genders. The rocker is easy to take out and put back in, and it’s very sueful and portable. Definitely an improvement over the Fisher-Price ricker, although it can be pretty heavy to carry around, especially with an infant inside.Cons:Not easy to assemble. The construction seems more flimsy than the Fisher-Price model. It looks like it could be easily nocked over or damaged if you accidentally bump into it.There is only one kind of music that it can play. The hanging dolls don’t move.I’ve had some problems with the swinging motor failing over time in my Fisher-Price swing, but so far I have not had any trouble with this one. If anything changes in that regard I’ll update this review.I still think I prefer my Snugabunny and if you are just shopping for a swing I would recommend that product instead.

Many features, perfect for even a newborn!

The Graco DuetSoothe Swing + Rocker arrived on my front porch in a big box. I assembled it with the help of my 11 yo and 8 yo sons. (They enjoyed pulling out their own screwdrivers from their tools to help me.) The instructions were clear, for the most part. They included text and illustrations. The hardest part of assembling the swing was actually putting the seat together correctly. A few of the instructions were confusing at first, but we managed to figure them out and assemble it in half an hour.I was surprised once it was assembled to realize it was very wide. Wider than our last swing, though it’s been years since we used one. I had to rearrange my living room a bit, to fit it in. However, once my baby arrived, it was well worth the space. He’s too small for our bouncy seats yet, but he can use the swing already. This is very helpful when he’s already been diapered and fed, but is fussy. I prefer to soothe him myself, but the swing is helpful to keep him happy when I need to be cooking supper or getting ready for the day instead.Pros:- can operate with a power cord instead of just batteries- swing rotates so baby can swing forward and back, or side-to-side, whichever soothes them best- swing can remove to be a 2-speed vibrating rocker in any part of the house- Winslet pattern is subtle and sophisticated, blending in with home decor nicely- Winslet pattern is also gender neutral, making it easier to reuse with future children- reclines back enough that even my 1 week old can safely swing in it (especially in the side-to-side position)- music can be turned on and off, with adjustable volume, and ten melodies- it has a sound machine with 5 different nature sounds that can be played instead of music- 6 speeds of rocking, allowing it to be turned up to soothe a fussy baby, and then slowed down once baby is asleep- timer shuts off the swing after awhile to save electricity/battery life- assembly requires only a screwdriverCons:- it has a wide footprint, which takes up a lot of space in a room- the sideways rocking also makes it have a wider footprint than some swings- the vibrating seat is not powered by the electrical cord, requires batteries- somewhat complicated to assemble- one of the more expensive swingsOverall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons for the Graco DuetSoothe Swing + Rocker. Highly recommended!

Nice to have but loud

When I had my baby, I inherited an old Fisher Price Ocean Wonders cradle swing. My son absolutely LOVED it but it was quite old and the seat padding was tattered. When the opportunity arose for me to get this, I jumped at the chance.First, the good:-I like how this can be plugged in. I was going through entire packets of batteries with the last one so it was nice this came with a adapter that I can plug into the wall. I still use batteries when we’re on the porch enjoying the nice weather but I predominantly use the plug.-The seat padding is machine washable – a definite plus in my book.-The timer mode is great. I like how it gradually stops on its own.- The color scheme is attractive and gender neutral. Now the bad:-The seat vibration is loud. So loud that I don’t even use it.-The appeal of this is that it can be used as a rocker in addition to the swing, but once detached the rocker is large, unwieldy and heavy.-The swing has a large footprint and takes up a lot of room.In the end, even though this is so much newer than the one I got from my sister, it isn’t that much better.

Ok swing, some issues

For baby #1, I thought swings were for lazy parents who didnt even want to spend time bonding with their child. I changed my mind….So for baby #2, I wanted one. I hesitated forever between the FB models and this one. After checking them out in a baby store, we bought this, one. The main reason was the seat comfort. To the touch, I could feel some bars under the cushion in the FP one, and I dont think that is very pleasant on a baby’s back. For the extra weight capacity, although that seems like a plus. By the time 99.9% of kids reach 20/25lbs, the swing will have lost its appeal. For the detachable rocker, I wasn’t really convinced because we already had a bouncer seat and I knew I would get another Csection so wouldnt be able to lift it anyway ( with baby sleeping in it). However, we have used it more often than I thought. If baby is waking up before I am ready to go to work, I detach it and bring it in our bathroom: I can watch her, she can watch me. If we want a drink outside, we take it instead of grabbing the bouncer located in the breakfast area. After having it for a few months, I have the following negative comments:The toys: we knew right away they sucked. No lights, no mirror, no bright colors,…. To overcome that, I use a mommy hook and I have a Lamaze toy that she likes hanging. It’s a pain when I want to detach the rocker, but it’s very helpful to entertain her for a couple of minutes. The music: it’s ok. My complaint here is the volume. The buttons do not work, the volume is constant, and to me, a little too loud for my and baby’s ears.Clicking noise: it’s quite inconsistent, sometimes loud, sometimes not as bad, but there is a clicking noise when the swing is operating. All swings had a clicking noise in the store, this one actually wasn’t as bad,…, in the store. But sometimes it’s almost non existent, and then it comes back. The swing is in our master so we hear it, but I’d rather hear that than a crying baby. It’s not a bad swing, it’s not the best swing. There is room for improvement ( toy, volume, noise), but some can be overcome with a little creativity.

Nice with a few drawbacks

I’ve always found a baby swing to be a nearly-essential (sanity-saving) baby item, even though its useful lifetime is limited (and depends on the baby’s personality). This swing seems to have a few added benefits that would give it some extra “life”.We loved the variable positioning for the swing, allowing it to swing front-to-back and side-to-side. The side-to-side seems to be more soothing while the baby is younger. The swing part is removable to be portable, and then used as a rocker. The rocker seemed like a nice bonus, but it was so much bigger than a standard portable baby rocker, that it didn’t fit well into smaller places. Also, the overall swing is very large. If you don’t have a large open space to put it, or if its going to be moved around a lot, you may be disappointed. It sits in the very middle of our living room, and I find myself wishing it were a little smaller and could fit somewhere else.I do appreciate the AC adapter, as I hate buying D batteries (and using them 4 at a time!). The Winslet pattern is very nice, very neutral. If I were shopping for a new swing, I’d probably visit a baby-supply superstore to see how the dimensions of the swings compared. Maybe they’re all this big now?Otherwise, overall very pleased with the swing.

Just perfect

I was torn about which swing to pick for my baby girl, especially with how many people recommended that snugabunny swing to me, but I ultimately chose this one and I am so glad I did.It arrived about 6 hours before my water broke (good thing!). My husband had it put together in about 15 minutes. We put her in it the day we came home from the hospital and she was out like a light immediately. My favorite things about it have to be changing the direction of it’s swing as well as being able to take it off and use it as a rocker on the floor. I love the music selection and the different ‘white noise’ sounds it has as well. At 2 months old, she is only just now enjoying the bears that hang down and I’m glad she is, however the bears were never a reason for buying this anyway. She enjoys the vibration feature as well! The only thing so far that might be a con is a clicking noise that it does from time to time while swinging. If you don’t like the sound, it sucks as you can’t turn that off, but personally I like it… it makes for good white noise to me as well. Kind of like the ticking of a clock. All in all, a perfect buy for us.

Generally a nice swing with a few quirks

I got this swing from Bed, Bath, and Beyond because I had several gift cards (essentially making it free). I was really excited about this swing because I live in a small house, so the 2-in-1 feature really appealed to me. I did a lot of research before I finally settled for this one.First of all, the directions were absolutely horrible. They are mostly pictures with very poor descriptions, parts aren’t labeled, etc. After I finally figured out how to put it together (it took about an hour), I think the swing is pretty nice. It seems to be pretty sturdy and it plugs into the wall or runs off batteries. It is fairly simple to adjust the recline, remove the seat, or change the direction the swing moves.I don’t care much for the music that it plays. Instead of being soft and calming, it’s pretty obnoxious and I don’t think it would soothe any baby. The nature sounds are pretty lame also. The swing also makes a pretty significant clicking sound when it is rocking. For me this isn’t a big deal, but I can see how it would annoy others. The vibration feature only runs off of 1 ‘D’ battery and doesn’t take advantage of the plug-in AC adapter. I don’t have any D batteries so I can’t comment on how well the vibration feature works.Pros:-Space saving (swing and rocker in one, good for small spaces)-Swings front to back or side to side-Runs off AC adapter or batteries-Easy to change swinging positions-Simple removal of rocker-One hand seat recline adjusting-2 recline seat positions-Removable seat insert (ideal for cleaning/washing)Cons:-Expensive-Vibration feature doesn’t work with just the AC adapter; needs a separate D battery to work-Clicks when rocking-Music and nature noises are obnoxious-Horrible assembly instructions-Vibration switch feels super cheap and flimsyAll in all, I think it’s a decent swing. I like that it swings different directions, and is space-saving by combining two products into one. I do think for the $179 retail price it should come with better instructions, run quieter, and have more appealing music. I would be pretty upset if I had spent $179 cash on it, but since I had gift cards, it is good enough for me. I think for the price there are probably better options, but again, with limited space I needed to consolidate so this swing is the best option for me.I will update as I find more pros/cons.

Lovely neutral colors…

I love that I can put this swing anywhere in the house and it is not an eye sore. The neutral colors would go well with most decors. The swing has enough speeds to satisfy whichever speed your little one might prefer and there is a nice variety of soothing sounds to choose from while they swing. One excellent feature is the fact that the swing can be plugged into an outlet thus saving batteries. I spent a fortune on batteries with my old swing so this feature is a major money saver. Just keep in mind that it is a large swing that takes up quite a bit of real estate. The rocker option is also large and heavy to move around which was disappointing. I love multiuse products but I do not see myself lugging the rocker around the house so I subtracted a star for this issue. Overall this Graco model is a smooth swing with a five-point harness which is a nice plus for safety.

Perfect combaination of swing and bouncy!

From experience, I knew I needed a bouncy that I could easily move from place to place, but I also wanted a swing that would help soothe a fussy baby. I didn’t want to buy two separate items that would just take up more space in our already crowded living room. This is the perfect combination of a swing and bouncy! The swing can be adjusted to rock side-to-side or front-to-back at 6 different speeds. You can run the swing on a billion batteries, or just plug it in. The bouncy is easily removed from the swing frame with just one hand and is lightweight enough to carry around the house. The bouncy’s rocker base is perfectly designed so that the baby’s movement can make it gently rock when your hands or feet are unavailable.

Worth the money!

I was skeptical of spending so much on a swing. But it was so worth it! This swing is great! We have used it for three months now. In the beginning out 5lb 12oz baby was a little small for the swing. When she was wrapped in a blanket she fit better. Now she is 10 pounds and it still works great!I love that the swing gets plugged in. No need to buy batteries:). Also the feature of having the chair move in two different directions is great! Our little one like a change sometimes. Now. That she is older she likes to situ the rocker. It is east to rock with your foot. While you’re. Eating dinner, watching tv, or ant other activity. The music is another great feature. We liked the classical music the best.I never used the vibrate option so I can not say how it works. It does take up quiets bit of room but it Is sturdy.

Nice swing

I love this swing. The best feature is that the seat part detaches to become a separate rocker. I put it in the bathroom with me while I take a shower to keep my baby occupied. My baby loves the ocean waves sound for nap time. When he was a few weeks old this swing was the only thing he would nap in. The only thing I don’t like about this swing is the mobile. The one on the fisherprice snagabunny/puppy swing is much better because it turns by itself, lights up, and moves. This mobile on this swing doesn’t do anything and doesn’t even have colors the baby can look at. I ended up putting different toys up.Pros:- lots of soothing sounds and music options- 2 vibration speeds- soft seat- fabric is easy to remove for washing.- Swings side to side or front to back.- seat becomes a removable rockerCons- Boring mobile.

Some things I would improve, but would buy again

I bought this specific swing because I wanted one that could swing in multiple directions and that had a removable seat.Pros:Nice range of speedsMusic, Nature Sounds, and White Noise all built inThe footprint is not too largeSwing plugs into the wallWashable seat linerStraps can be tucked under seat liner until baby gets old enough to need themCons:My baby is 25" long and her head rests uncomfortably on the plastic handle for adjusting the reclineClicking noise during useVibrating seat requires batteries (not sure if there is an auto-off for the vibration, but I wish there was if there isnt because it’s super easy to forget to turn off)No indicator light to show that vibrating seat is turned onYes, there are some things I would improve, but I think it’s one of the better options on the market right now and I would buy it again.

Babies don’t seem to like it that much

This is a nice looking swing but my twins don’t seem to like it very much. We also have a Fisher Price swing which they love mostly bc the mobile on this swing only has the bears which do nothing. The FP swing has a mobile that moves and also has a mirror which seems to make the difference. It is also softer and more plush than this swing and seems to be more comfortable. We use the swings every day and it is apparent that when one is in this swing they would prefer to be in the other. The music is fine but we got sick of it so don’t use it anymore. We have yet to really use the bouncer seat since neither baby seems to enjoy the vibration. We received this as a gift and I was too busy to consider returning it. It was also not easy to assemble and the idea of taking it apart and getting it back in the box to return was too daunting. It is great that it can be plugged in to use the swing function and not rely on batteries. It does creak and groan now after about 2 months of use so we don’t turn the swing motion setting above 3.

Nice two in one swing

This Graco offers a rocker and swing which is awesome since the rocker can be moved from room to room, but it is a bit on the heavier side (especially compared to other portable rockers. It plays music but the mobile doesn’t rotate fully. I’d still recommend the Fischer Price Snug a Bunny swing over this one. They’re around the same price and take up the same amount of space but the FP swing is more reliable and sturdy. If you want more tips on what to get for your newborn, visit the website AllMomsArePerfect.com. The baby seems to enjoy it, which is what matters in the end.

The first thing we noticed when we received this was the size, it is a little bit larger than what we expected from the pictures in the product description, by having a frame to be used a swing you definitely want to consider this will take more space than your average rocker/chair.As other products of the kind, this one you will have to put together. If you, like me, have purchased baby products before this will not be challenging at all, instructions are not very clear but I can say prior experiences helped make them easy to follow.I really liked the design, the unisex color matches other baby products we have so that was a nice plus. Obviously the selling point of this product is the ability to use it both as a swing and as a rocker. How does it perform? The swing rotates, so movement is not limited to only back and forth nut you can also swing the baby to the sides if you’d like to. As other similar products, the seat has a built in vibrator (which was a little bit noisy for my taste, but in the end, it’s all about white noise) and additionally, you can also play songs and sounds. As a rocker, it really doesn’t offer anything you can’t find in other similar products, but as stated earlier in my review, it is a rather large and heavier seat when compared to the one we had for our first baby, not a bad thing, it actually makes sense because of the double feature, but if space is an issue for you, you may want to keep this in mind.A nice extra feature is that it offers the option to plug it in instead of running on batteries, battery life on this type of products isn’t usually an issue but it is nice to have another alternative. The product description does have some information on weight recommendation but as of today, it is not complete. This was important for me as our baby is a large baby, so I wanted to make sure we knew the size and weight limitations, according to Graco’s website, the recommended weights are as follows:- As a swing: babies from 5.5 to 30 lbs.- As a rocker: babies from 5.5 to 25 lbs.It is a very well made product and helped us get rid of the old ones we planned on using that belonged to our first boy (now 5 years old), speaking of the price, you really don’t save much as the price is pretty much what it would cost to buy the two (swing + rocker) separately so keep that in mind if you only need one of those. We are quite happy with it and the baby seems to enjoy it, which is what matters in the end.

Swings nicely and great use of two items in one!

The color is a bit to be desired, but the usefulness of this design can’t be beat. The swing comes with the ac adapter, which some swings do not, and swings very smooth. The song selection is pretty good, as well as nature sounds. The detachable seat for bouncer use is great, as it takes away the need to purchase an additional item, AND consolidates the two together to make better use of space. We love this item, but wish it had more color, as it is VERY bland.

Beautiful, versatile, swing that meets the needs of multiple baby types

I LOVE this swing. After working in early childhood for 20 years, I knew exactly what I was looking for in a swing for my baby. I purchased it due to it’s ability to swing both side to side and front to back. Babies tend to love one or the other, and it’s impossible to know what they will love before they arrive. I also love that the swing can be removed and used as a bouncy seat/rocker that even vibrates! The swing is very well made. The fabric is super soft and the pattern on it is beautiful and can work for a boy or a girl.
