Mom and Baby Loves It!
Having been out of the parenting scene for almost twenty years it was quite a culture shock to find that our home would soon be welcoming a new little one. Car seats twenty years ago didn’t offer much in the way of extras and at that time infant seats were given to new parents at the hospital. When we began looking for a car seat for our expected bundle of joy we decided to purchase Graco SnugRide Classic Connect Infant Car Seat, Little Hoot. As this was the only seat we were using at the time and had little experience with what car seats now offer we didn’t realize how much we were missing until we received this seat for review. The Graco SnugRide Classic Connect Infant Car Seat, Little Hoot only accommodates a baby up to 22 pounds, the harness straps have to be adjusted manually(UGH!) each time we put baby into the seat, and the reclining feature is very difficult to reach and use in the rear facing position. We fell in love with this car seat immediately. The color is nice for our little boy but the car seat fabric is kinda rough so we use aKiddopotamus Snuzzler Complete Head and Body Support, Ivory Terry. The harness straps are released with the pull of a lever located in the seat and tightened with a pull of a strap. Had I known what a difference this would have made in ease of use we would have purchased our first seat with this feature. I now know it is a must have for infant car seats. The Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35 was a breeze to install in our vehicle. The installation meter on the base of the car seat is easy to read and with just a quick glance you can see if the seat is properly installed and in the correct position or if adjustments need to be made. The reclining mechanism is controlled with a knob on the front of the base and can be reached and turned easily.Removing and putting the seat into the base is very easy, with or without baby inside, and it is lighter in weight than our original seat. The only thing we find we don’t like about this seat is the shade. It doesn’t cover our little ones face as much as the Graco SnugRide Classic Connect Infant Car Seat, Little Hoot and is difficult to open if the handle is in the carry position.Of the two car seats we prefer this one. It does cost more than the Graco SnugRide Classic Connect Infant Car Seat, Little Hoot but it is worth it in my opinion to have the extras offered with this seat.
Graco delivers again with another great SnugRide car seat
Graco’s SnugRide car seats have been praised by reviewers and seem to be very well liked by users. This SnugRide Click Connect 35 is yet another well designed car seat, touted by Graco to be the lightest on the market (though I’ve had trouble finding an exact weight–why do they not make this easier info to find for shoppers?)Though it is a light weight car seat (when there is no baby in it), I can’t really tell a discernible difference between the weight of this Graco SnugRide and my well used Chicco KeyFit car seat. It might very well be the lightest car seat out there, but certainly not by much, so that’s not a reason I’d say to buy it based on.The material is sleek and seems easy to clean, which I like. It can be washed in a washing machine (trust me, this is very important) and comes off easily enough. I really do like the little snug cover that can be placed over a newborn’s lower half and I wish all car seats came with this. It removes easily, and certainly wouldn’t be used with larger babies once they start to grow past the end of the car seat, but I live in a cold weather state and the cover is a nice added feature. The handle is just fine, though I will say the handle and the adjustable visor get in the way of each other. The buttons to push the handle back are in a bit of an awkward position, and then moving the handle back, it runs into the sun guard/visor, so that’s a tad annoying but not a horrible design flaw. The visor is also VERY crinkly, it makes noise when moved. This might not seem like a big deal, but as a mother of three I can tell you that sometimes you need to pull the shade over a sleeping baby, so it being noisy is actually a problem in my opinion. The car seat clicks in and out of the base easily, using one hand to lift and the other to release it from the base. I will say I REALLY like the red dial on the car seat base, which is used to raise and lower the base at an angle so that you can be sure your baby is riding at the right, safe angle. This feature is brilliant, as many other car seats leave you guessing and having to fuss to get the level perfect. The base that came with my car seat is quite a bit darker than pictured. It’s not light gray, it’s dark and matches the car seat. The infant head cushion is a great thing to have for newborns, and the seat belt adjusts easily enough–even fitting the tiniest of babies! I will point out that when you need to release some slack on the 5-point belt, it’s tricky to find the button to push–it’s underneath the cover and you have to use your finger to pry around in there. Our older Chicco KeyFit car seat has a bright, visible orange button you push, so that’s just one other little thing. Again, not a big deal, but just an annoying little design difference I’ve noticed.Overall, I think this is a great, good looking car seat. Graco has a good reputation with their SnugRide Click Connect seats. I love the easy adjust base, and the material the car seat is made from. I like that the Click Connect series are versatile, so you can pack this car seat onto any Click Connect stroller by Graco. I would definitely recommend this as a nice, easy to use car seat (and yes–lightweight!) to any new parents or parents-to-be.If you have any questions I didn’t answer, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer it!
A comfortable seat that with longevity of use
The Snug Ride Click Connect 35 seat really impressed me. Two years ago when we were in the market for a new infant carrier car seat I was very disappointed in the quality of the Graco Snug Ride infant carriers. We had used a Snug Ride with our two older children and we loved the seat. When it came time to buy a new one for our youngest I was unimpressed by the poor quality of the Graco seats. The handles were flimsy and the seat covers were thin and not as nicely padded as they used to be. So two years ago we chose the Chicco KeyFit 22 over Graco. It seems like Graco stepped up the quality over the past couple of years. The handle on this seat is just as nice as they used to be 11 years ago. In fact, I think the handle is just as nice and comfortable to carry as the Chicco KeyFit. The padding for the seat is good. It’s not as cushy as the KeyFit, but it’s comparable to the Britax B-Safe. The Graco seat has the added advantage of holding a child from 4lbs up to 35lbs. Our KeyFit is only for infants up to 22lbs and was outgrown a while ago. My 18 month old (20lbs 31 inches) fits in this Graco infant carrier with room to grow. The seat must be comfortable because she didn’t want to get out of it when she tested it out. So if you’re looking for a seat that will have some longevity, this one will work. The seat is light. It weighs in at 7 lbs which is significantly lighter than our Key Fit and B-Safe infant carriers. That makes a big difference in how long you can carry your child around in the seat. I wouldn’t want to have to carry my 18 month old around in this seat, but I was able to carry her when we tested it out.I did find that the canny for the seat, seems to get in the way when you adjust the carry handle. It is a bit of a nuisance, but there good news is you can detach the canopy if the obstruction really irritates you. I had similar issues with the canopy getting in the way with our Chicco KeyFit seat, but the problem seems a little worse with this Graco seat.I like the front adjust for the for the harness. I won’t entertain using an infant carrier that doesn’t have a harness that can be adjusted from the front. The carriers that adjust from the rear just aren’t practical since it’s easier to put a baby in the seat if you can loosen the harness first.Installing the base was relatively easy. It’s not as easy as installing the Chicco Key Fit base, but it’s a lot easier than fighting with the Britax B-Agile base which is a pain in the rear. My biggest complaint about the base for this seat is there is only one level indicator. If you are installing this seat on the driver’s side of the car you will not be able to see the level. I prefer to have a level indicator on both sides to eliminate any confusion. Britax and Chicco both have two level indicators on their car seat bases.Adjusting the incline on the base is as simple as turning the dial on the seat. It’s easier to adjust the incline on this seat than it is to do the same with the Britax B-Safe base. It’s say it’s on par with the ease of use for the KeyFit base.Overall, the infant carrier is decent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
I wish I never bought this car seat.
happy with this car seat at all.1. The lock is very hard to open.2. The sun shade is horrible. It has a velcro back part that will not allow you to move it forward if the sun is in the babies face. The sun shade does not have any stiff part for you to be able to un velcro the shade to move it in the back, it will just fall on your babies face. The red locks that lock the handle in place are very hard to push down and at times they stick, there for when you try to put the handle down while it is in the stroller it needs a lot of force and something’s you need 2 people to do it. This affects any toys you may want to put on the handle also. If you have anything that will come close to the shade then the shade will not open, therefor you cannot put any toys on the handle. The shade is made so week that it does not stay open if you have the car seat in the stroller and push it.3. My baby seems to get very hot in this car seat, much more than our older Graco car seat.4. You cannot use any of the Greco bases for this car seat, you have to buy all new ones.5. The wheels deflate fast, we have only had this car seat for one week and have had to fill the tires 2 times now.The only good things about this car seat is that it is for bigger baby’s that can go up to 35 lbs.I wish I never bought this car seat.
A Quality Product
This is a very good infant car seat. It is lighter than other car seats, although it’s still a car seat and that means it will never be feather-light. The seat looks very nice, without the garish colors of many other seats. The incline is very easy to adjust, which is a plus because nobody needs extra complexity when trying to strap in an infant. The head cushion for newborn babies that is included with the product is a great idea.Installing the seat is not easy, but I am yet to see a car seat that would be super easy to install. It’s all doable, though, with a little bit of figuring out.Overall, this is a very good, high quality product that I don’t hesitate to use and recommend.
Pleased with this car seat
This is my second snugride car seat from Graco. My first one was purchased about 7 years ago and served its purpose for my two eldest children. During my pregnancy with my third child I realised it was time to replace all of my baby gear having given away most of what I had before. I was very tempted to change my brand of choice to Britax as I really wanted a jogging stroller this time around, but the price of Britax was a little prohibitive and then I saw that Graco released this new line up with a jogging stroller at a very reasonable price! I just received my car seat two days ago and am very pleased with it.The seat fits better in my smallish car (mitsubishi Lancer) than the previous Graco did – it was very uncomfortable to have anyone in the front passenger seat when the old car seat was behind it however now the passenger can sit comfortably in the front despite the car seat being behind. The material and fabric seems harder wearing and also better padded although I will say there is no “soft” element to it.Finally I love the colour scheme – I have a daughter now and although I have “pinked” her out when it comes to clothes I didn’t want to go overboard with the baby gear, the orange and grey are very stylish and on trend! Thanks Graco for coming out with this line just on time for my third baby!
Hot and uncomfortable
I am very unhappy with this car seat. It has some pros, but the cons overweight all of them.ProsEasy to attach to the basePretty designRather light (comparing to some other models)Cons:Baby is getting really hot and sweaty in it within minutes. There is barely enough space in it for my 9 month old. I cannot imagine that it will actually fit 35 pounds baby as advertised. It has unusual base and some stroller brands just do not have an adapter for it.When my baby was a newborn it provided no support for it head so we have to use rolled receiving blankets.
Nice infant carseat
This is our second Graco infant carseat. The first one is still in good condition, but it expired before our third child outgrew it (did you know that carseats have expiration dates?) There have been some nice design changes in the last 5 plus years and some changes that I do not love. Here are the pros and cons as I see them.Pros::: It is the lightest infant car seat for infants 4 to 35 lbs. That being said, it is still heavy when you have a growing child in it :):: Since it is recommended that kids stay facing backwards in the car until they are 2 now, it is nice that kids can stay in this carseat until they are 35 lbs (because to me an infant carseat facing backwards takes up less room in the car than a toddler carseat facing backwards).:: The fabric is nice and the outer shell is easily removable, so it can be thrown in the washing machine to clean.:: It has four slots so you can to adjust the strap height depending on your child’s size (our previous model only had 3).:: The base is easy to install.:: It comes with an infant insert which is great for small babies.Cons:: The shade crinkles (makes noise) when you move it. This is not ideal when you have a sleeping baby.:: The shade is hard to open and close, especially when you have the handle up because they rub against each other.:: While it is said to fit with Graco Click Connect strollers, it does not fit securely into the (older) universal stroller frame (like our first Graco did). I guess I would just recommend that if you are not going to buy a Graco stroller, that you do good research to make sure this carseat is compatible with your stroller. With baby products, I have found that there is no perfect carseat, stroller etc because there are varying features and no product does it all. We have several Graco products and I am impressed with the quality and durability. I recommend this carseat despite the minor annoyances I found with it.
So far I love it..
Granted I am still pregnant and haven’t used it this is my third pregnancy. I know a good carseat. It looks just like photo. D
Car seats are so complicated
Never having had my own kids I’m having a steep learning curve as I’m about to be a grandparent (long story)Car seats for the uninitiated are confusing. The online video makes it easier for a neophyte like me to understand not just the safety but the features that are in the car seat. The shade is a little tight to move around the swinging arm — which really is rather annoying.without the base and without the baby the car seat does seem light.
Good bottom line carseat. Goes well with our stroller
Decent carseat but our friends babies look much more comfortable in their more expensive carseats. We don’t use the weather shield. Sometimes it gets stuck in the base as well.
I got this as part of a package with the FastAction Fold Jogger Click Connect Stroller. It’s very simple to lock into the car-seat base and stroller as all you have to do is line it up and snap it in. To take it out, you simply squeeze a latch on the back of it while you’re picking it up. The straps on the 5-point harness are also easy to adjust, but need to be loosened and tightened every time you put your LO in or take them out of the carseat. The canopy is a nice addition, but I wish it would come forward just a little further to keep the sun out of our LOs eyes. Overall, a good buy.
For all you first timers. Tip Below.
I spent hours upon hours and weeks upon weeks doing research to find just the right car seat for our precious little bundle. After researching and visiting a few stores to see and feel a variety of different brands, I came to the conclusion that the Graco Snugride 35 is super comfortable and I never found another seat with material as soft and cozy.As for the security of the seat… it is unbeatable. The seat is solidly made without being overly heavy. And it comes in first in every carseat safety rating chart I saw. Just make sure you follow the installation instructions DADS!! The base was easy to use as it has a built-in leveler to make it easy to install. We also bought a second base for my husband’s car so that was nice. We ended up purchasing the stroller as well so we have a matching set.:: TIP!! If you do get the extra base make sure you order the correct one. There is another line of this model that isn’t “click connect” which won’t work. This is the one you want.B00BNQEZXSI would highly recommend this to anyone. Any of you pregnant mommies out there looking for a safe, reliable car seat can stop your search and get this one. It’s compact and fit easily in the car behind my husband who is 6’4″. There really was no drawback to this seat and we used it for 8 months until getting a convertible one (our son is in the 95th percentile for height and we travel a lot so we switched seats).
One of the easiest to correctly put in the car, seats, comfortable, canopy and cold weather boot
Overall I really like the Graco. Car seats are one of the most important items for parents and they can also be one of the hardest to find one that works for you. The percentage of parents who don’t use them correctly is staggering. I think it is around 50%.We have been trying the Graco for a few weeks and it is very intuitive to use and Graco seemed to take making the car seat easy to use a priority. First the instructions are very clear. Second there is a level indicator for the base and a lever to adjust the base making it very easy compared to other seats we have used to get the base nice and level. The shoulder belt adjustments are very easy. This cannot be overrated if you live in a climate that goes, hot, cold, hot cold. To get a good fit with different clothes this has to be easy. Taking the seat in and out of the base is very easy. This is important for infant seats since they double as carriers. The seat seems comfortable also. The cold weather boot is nice and extremely easy to take off and on. There is also storage for the manual a nice touch. Highly recommended seat. The easier a seat is to use correctly the better it will be. Graco took a lot of effort to get that right here and it shows.
Great little car seat!
We read through hours of reviews for several car seats and were happy we bought this one. Our little one ended up coming home at 5 1/2 lbs and 20 inches long so we needed one that would support a tiny baby and grow with him. We’ve had him for 4 months, and he’s 15 lbs and 25 inches, and there’s still a lot more room for this kiddo to grow. We love that it connects so well with the jogger as well. Great system!
Super happy with the seat
We have been really happy with this car seat. It was easy to install, and after a little bit of practice, a cinch to get the seat on and off of the base. It did take me some practice to figure out how to loosen the straps, but now I can practically do it with one hand. My baby (3 1/2 months and around 12 lbs) is still comfortable in the seat, and still has plenty of room to grow.
Great car seat with excellent ratings and easy to use. Light weight but durable. I also got the stroller to go with the car seat, easy for one hand use with the one click in and out system.
Everyone who has a baby that hold my baby in this is questioning about why their baby’s seat is so heavy and this isn’t. It does what it says it does
Reason for the three stars and it’s not the product
This product has been great for us. Another thing to be aware of, something we definitely never planed for, is that not all car seats are suitable for smaller babies. As our baby daughter was a preemie and the law in our area was that the nurses check your car seat before discharging the baby it had to be rated for babies from 4lbs and up. This seat is able to do that. The connect system for the car is simple and secure. The reason I gave it three stars is that the highly publicised recall on the buckle system for Graco car seats. Although this one is not in the list (as far as I can make out) they allow you to order the newer buckles without an issue, make of that what you will but to me it means they aren’t so sure it won’t happen or they aren’t that happy about it. Anyway the three stars are because yes it works great so far but the wait time on the new buckles is six to eight weeks or in real terms one and a half months to two months….. That’s a very long time in baby years and a long time to have that doubt in your mind. I decided to go ahead and buy it as the connect system allows you to remove the car seat from the car in a hurry if there is a problem with the buckle and the whole travel system is very good. Last point. I spent a lot of time looking at stroller, car seat, travel systems and they all had great reviews and terrible reviews. My wife and I went to different stores and actually handled the options and this was the one we felt most comfortable with in the big wheel jogger range. It also comes with the stroller which collapses very easily and you can read my separate review on that
It’s comfy, lite and the CHP (Cal Highway Patrol) officer who installed it loved it and said it was an excellent choice!
Great car seat
Overall, we have been pretty happy with this cart seat. We previously had a Graco Dynamo Lite Classic Connect Travel System, Adaline so we wanted another car seat for our second child from a brand we trusted. The Graco car seat was easy to install with the latch system in our Toyota Highlander. The car seat is easy to click into and remove from the base. The harness seems secure, although I worry that the straps are digging into my newborn’s neck. I am looking into purchasing something to cover them. I was surprised that our 20+ pound child did fit comfortably in the seat, although it was much too heavy for me to carry then. (She tried the seat just out of curiosity. She prefers her “big girl seat”.) The shade is hard to pull back and forth because it rubs up against the handle but that is more of an annoyance than anything else.My only other complaint is that the car seat will not work with older strollers. The design was changed so I recommend checking to see if this car seat is compatible with your stroller before purchasing.
