18 Month Old Sleep Sack Works Great
Love this sleep sack! My 18 month old is able to stay snuggled up at night, and easily walk about the house before bed or after waking up in the morning. We live in WA and for the climate here it is perfect for the spring, fall and summer with cotton PJs.
Does What it Says but Sizing Needs Clarification
I took off 1 star for sizing issues. We’ve been using the regular sleep sacks (with no feet, cotton in Summer/Spring, fleece in Fall/Winter) for my little one since he was born. They wash well and are good at keeping the little guy covered at night. Another plus is that he cannot climb out of his crib with his sleep sack on, muahaha. Each time he outgrows a sleep sack, we move on to the next size up. Now that he’s walking, we decided to try the Early Walker style so he can run around with it on before bed. I sized down for this sleep sack based on the reviews and regret it. It stills fits him but most likely he will have to sleep with his feet out of the sleep sack – which is fine and what I think most people want. I just prefer to have him tuck his feet in while he sleeps so I don’t have to put socks on him so I would have liked the extra room.I compared an XL Regular Halo sleep sack with a L Early Walker: The armhole openings on the L is nearly half the size of the XL. The length of the L sleep sack is about 1 inch shorter than the XL (if you measure to where both are still “sacks”, NOT comparing where the leg cuffs end (L Early Walker) to the sack (XL regular sack). Sorry if that’s confusing, I don’t know how to explain it more clearly short of taking a photo (and our camera is not working right now). Also, the regular sleep sacks are 100% cotton and a heavier than the Early Walkers, which are polyester. The Early Walkers are also available in a mesh material, which I assume is even lighter/thinner. I’m fine with the polyester, I wish I had read the item description more carefully bc I was expecting a cotton weight sleep sack and now we’ll have to adjust the fan and air conditioner in the little guy’s room. Another reviewer mentioned that the sleep sack pilled after washing – we haven’t washed it many times yet, but I can already tell that the fabric has begun to wear a bit.
2 1/2 year old STILL uses her walking sack!
I can’t rave about these sacks enough!!! They are awesome – when my daughter started standing up in her crib at night, we got the open feet ones and just put her socks on so that she could stand up without falling. She is 2 1/2 and won’t go to bed without her sack so they must keep her warm enough. We’ve only ever used the cotton and while we’ve used the closed/standard infant sacks and the early walker, the walker ones seem a bit thinner but still warm. They pill a bit after washing/drying alot but that doesn’t hinder use. We’ll use these until they absolutly won’t fit anymore!
Good for toddlers, and sizes run large
My 19 month old swims in the size large so order accordingly. I got this while sleep training but it didn’t work too well. He started climbing out of his crib and I thought this would limit his range of motion but his little feet can still swing over the rail to get out, so it didn’t accomplish our goal. Regardless, it is a great option to a blanket and he does like to wear it at bedtime. I like that it’s lightweight and can be worn over his pajamas or alone depending on the temperature. If you’d like a complete list of baby gear must-haves, a stroller shopping guide, or just what the first year of parenthood might be like, visit the website, AllMomsArePerfect.com. Good SleepSack. Runs large.
I’d give it 5 stars if it was cotton. Otherwise, it’s pretty soft and good enough weight as we approach warmer weather.Like many reviewers mention, this runs large, and I knew that from having purchased (and read reviews of) the fleece SleepSack. My baby is 30" tall and 23 lbs and the Medium is fine and leaves plenty of room to grow into. The knit version doesn’t seem to have as bad an issue with the armholes being snug as they are on the fleece version, but it’s still not that roomy and my baby doesn’t have thick arms.
I love the bag sleepers
I have used these since my baby was little. Now that he is standing I needed the non bag type. This does run large!! Buy a size down from what it says! Other than that I love it!
HALO early walker
I agree with others about the sizing. It is larger than you expect. All in all, it is great, the design let children sleep warm but they can put their feet out to move around when awake. Lightweight (feels like light cotton).
Big but great product!
The sizing of these definitely runs large, but it is still a great product! My toddler is about 27lbs and 32" and the XL is still fairly large on her, but it works – and she’ll definitely be able to use it next hear again! It is the perfect weight to use for those nights that you start sleeping with the windows open yet inevitably it gets cool around 3-4am: not too warm to use as soon as you put your little one to bed yet warm enough to keep him/her from getting chilly later on when the temperature drops. The material is soft, the zipper smooth, and the overall product stands up to frequent washes well. I am very happy we purchased this!
Based on the sizing description, I bought X-Large for my son, who is 27 pounds / 34.25" tall and thought he could grow into it. But it is humongous! I think the XL can be worn by 3 year olds and fit well, certainly not for a 1.5 year old. I could fit into the body of it and I’m 5’2". My son fits the Large pretty well, still has room to grow. If you buy, SIZE DOWN!Otherwise, nice material and soft /comfy. Lightweight.
A little long, but we love it!
My daughter sleeps so much better in this sleep sack! She stays warm all night and can’t kick it off like a blanket.Sizing: Based on other reviews, I knew these ran large. Based on my 15 month old’s weight and height, she measured at the top end of a medium. I wanted it to last for a few months, so I ordered a large. It looked too long out of the package, but I tried it on my daughter anyway. It is pretty roomy. She has no trouble walking around with this on, even though it is long on her. She probably needed the medium instead of the large. The only problem we have is that her feet keep coming out of the foot holes. This is not as much of a problem if she has a footed sleeper on underneath.I also ordered the micro fleece version in a large, and it fits her much better. It is not as long, and we don’t have trouble with her feet coming out.
Love Halo but this is huge!
Bought this for my daughter and it is huge! I can’t see her fitting in anytime soon. Will update with comment when we actually get to wear it.
The sacks run very big. Choose a size smaller than what’s recommended or your baby’s feet will slip into the blanket. Which defeats the purpose of having a blanket with feet.
Exactly what we needed (especially with a freezing cold winter!)
This sleep sack turned out to be exactly what we needed for my daughter. This winter has been especially brutal and seeing as she just turned 1, she’s not exactly great with sleeping with a blanket yet. I wanted a way to keep her warm, but didn’t want a traditional sleep sack because I was worried she would trip when standing/walking around her crib.I just happened to search Amazon for a "toddler sleep sack" and this is what I found. It’s really been perfect. It is pretty huge though, so that would be my only complaint, but it worked out well for us (it helped that other reviews mentioned this) because it gave her some room to grow.I have definitely recommended this to a lot of our friends with toddlers too!
Great for chilly nights
The SleepSack is lightweight and great for chilly nights. It is easy for little ones to walk around and move in.
Does the job.
My 12 month old son transitioned from a Swaddle SleepSack to a SleepSack. Now that he’s really mobile, the minute he wakes up, he wants to run around, jump and dance in his crib. With the regular SleepSack, he would trip himself. At least with the Early Walker, his feet are exposed. It fit a little large at first but, he grew into it in no time. I was concerned that his feet might get too cold at night but, when he wakes up in the morning, he seems to really warm. He’ll probably stay in the Early Walker SleepSack until he is ready for a traditional blanket.
This is the only thing my son would sleep in for the longest time. This is the baby shower gift I always get for friends. One of the best investments for your baby!
Light weight for summer and can still wear pants and long sleeved PJs. Then can be used when LO starts walking. Love the light weight material. Very soft on baby.
Great product but sizing chart is way off
I love the sleep sack, but be warned-their size chart is totally wrong. According to their chart, my daughter should be in a larger or X-large. I got the large and it was so big I ordered another in a medium. That’s still almost too big. Her feet sometimes retract into the foot holes and then when she tries to walk, she trips.I like the product enough to try the next sizzle down. Eventually she’ll grow into the bigger ones.
Light-weight wearable blanket
My toddler (who for the record is 19 mo and wears a 24mo) loves this sack. We call it the baby envelope. It worked just right, with full length pjs underneath, for a Seattle summer. On slightly colder nights, we put her in a long sleeved onesie in the fleece sack. (Oh, it doesn’t get down to 60 degrees on a summer night in your locale? Odd.) She likes to entertain herself in the morning by pulling off her socks. The material has a very nice touch to it, smooth and soft. Great purchase. We bought 2.
Halo is great!
This Halo sleepsack is great. It allows my daughter to stand in her crib better but also keeps her warm and toasty at night. If you love any of the Halo sleepsacks you will love this one. I wish it was crew-neck is my only complaint but I just make sure her jammies are fitting her good at the top.
great alternative to the sleep sack
I’ve been using the HALO sleep sacks for several months and I noticed my son’s legs were getting twisted up in the fabric as he rolled around during the night. We switched to the Early Walker sleepsack and he’s still warm, but no more tangling. Really pleased with this product.
Thin and terrible quality
I know this product is marketed as "lightweight knit," but I didn’t expect it to be as paper thin as it really is. There isn’t a chance of this offering any sort of warmth for my kiddo. I was supremely disappointed in this buy as I’ve been a loyal HALO customer and, with the exception of this item, have always been impressed by their quality. This item was not up to HALO’s standards; I’d recommend looking at other HALO products if you are looking for an item that will offer warmth and/or security to your little one.
Fits, Large, but there’s a reason!
Others have stated that this sleep sack fits large, & yes that is true. However, Its supposed to. Once the feet come through the blanket, there is extra fabric to drape over their feet to keep them warm. My daughter was never up & walking around the house in this, we always place her in it at bed time. It does the job & we are very happy with the product!
It works well enough.
I bought this for my 1yo to get through the winter. I really wish they had a heavier cotton one. This one is so light, it’s nothing more than a light sheet. The other early walker is fleece, which I didn’t want. I usually put a fleece sleeper on him, so this one works well enough.
Purchased for my grand daughter. Keeps her nice and cosy while sleeping in her crib and on those chilly mornings.
Exactly what my LO needed 🙂
It’s a nice breathable material that safely keeps my son warm at night! Don’t have to worry about him getting tangled up or kicking it off. Perfect!!
Perfect fabric, especially for the springtime. I highly recommend this sleepsack. I have a 15 month old and it works great. Sometimes I leave his feet in, other times out. And it’s soft, which is an added bonus.
Nice lightweight sleep sack that runs large. We bought this for a trip to Hawaii in September and it was a nice weight. My son was 18 mos and about 33" and this was huge on him. He’s now 2 years old and this is still big- I think we’ll get another year out of this.
True to Size
Because of the other reviews, I initially ordered a Medium for my 18-month toddler, who is about 24 pounds, and discovered that the sizing is exactly the same as the unfooted sleepsacks (excluding the foot openings) and way too short for him. Either the company resized its products or people are assuming that their children should be sleeping in this sack with their feet out (i.e., wearing them like pajamas). This sack is designed to completely cover the feet and provide * the option * for the toddler to stick his feet out if he is awake and mobile.I returned the Medium and ordered an Extra Large, which gives my boy some room to grow but certainly doesn’t look excessively large, as the other reviews suggest. My opinion is that the sizing chart is accurate, so order accordingly! Some negatives: I do wish that this product was made with 100% cotton; however, I also understand that polyester is a bit more insulating. I also don’t like the fact that Amazon charges different prices for different sizes. Haven’t used or washed the product yet, so don’t know how it will perform.
It’s Supposed to Be BIG!
We love this blanket. I turn it around so my toddler can’t unzip it and get out of it during the night. She loves being able to put her feet though the foot holes and is always happy to put this on to go to sleep.
