Unattractive and Poor Quality
I was very very disappointed in this product. From the reviews, I expected a very nice piece, but the actual toy box was very poorly made. I ordered the pink and white polka dot, and the fabric was a really cheap furry fabric that looked absolutely awful. You would have to use your hand to make it all go the same direction to look even halfway decent, and in some areas of the box, it was stretched funny and the polka dots were more oval. The inside isn’t lined with anything and is just particle board. I have bought much nicer boxes from Target for less money. I think I’ll stick with those. Thankfully Amazon has free returns because this one is going right back.
poorly constructed chest
First off let me just start by saying that this item arrived very quickly but unfortunately arrived damaged. Upon inspecting this item I also noticed that it is very poorly constructed. I can’t see anyone receiving this item undamaged. It is made from pressed wood which feels almost like thick cardboard. I can’t imagine anyone being able to keep this for years of use. If it didn’t arrive damaged, I’m sure my son, who is 1, would have this destroyed in a few days. I would def. steer clear of this product. I liked the idea that this was microfiber instead of painted wood which was what attracted me to it in the first place. I hope I can find a similar but well-made product. Not worth the $106 that is on the price tag. More like a $25 product.
Ivory chenille toy chest 5 stars
Beautiful toy box. Perfect for my daughters nursery. The chenille fabric is more of an ivory color than bright white which is exactly what I was looking for with her pink and cream nursery. High quality, very pleased.
My living room doesn’t look like a playroom!
We had a storage ottoman for toys that quickly filled up. We wanted our daughter to have access to her toys in a container that was soft in case she fell on it. We also preferred not to have a bright, plastic box in the same room we have adult company, so this works perfectly. I will probably buy another for her room when the time comes.
Hinge broke shortly after purchase, new hinges on way
Very cute toy box, and seemed pretty safe, but after a few weeks one of the hinges failed, which allowed the lid to fall on my toddler while he was looking in. There’s a telephone number on a sticker (next to the hinges inside the chest) telling customers to call in the event of such a failure, and there’s a warning to periodically check the hinges. So the company (Newco International) knows the toy boxes are sub-par but continues to sell them.I called the number and could not find a customer service rep until my 4th or 5th attempt. There’s an automated menu that has a lot of dead ends, and no operator. I spoke to a guy in sales who was not at all reassuring – he demanded to know if I had tried asking the Amazon seller for a new hinge, which I explained did not make any sense. Then he dumped me into someone’s voicemail in an unknown department. I called back, really mad, and tried another extension. This time I got someone else in sales who was very kind. She was able to get me a really helpful customer service supervisor. Thank you, patient sales manager!I’ve got some replacement hinges coming in the mail. Hopefully they are better than the present ones. Will update.I would buy again from this company. But I suggest that Newco International either changes its answering system to include an extension for customer service, or provides a different phone number on the stickers you put in your products. An even better alternative: fix your hinges before selling toy boxes!
The blue is a good color. Looks more expensive than it is. Stores lots of toys and works as a bench too. Doesn’t slam on baby’s fingers.
Nice size toy box and a lot of my daughters toys fit in it. The only thing that bugs me about it is the seam for the top of the box is on the front. Not sure why this happened and they wouldn’t put it in the back?? Made in America is what made me keep the box otherwise I probably would have sent it back.
