Not sure I’d buy it again
I decided to get a second potty for our second floor and thought most of this potty’s reviews were good enough that I would give it a go. My 2 year-old son has to line himself up perfectly on the potty, have his “thing” pushed all the way against the shield, and lean forward quite a bit so the pee goes in the potty and not down the sides. I have had to wipe up many pee rings from it trickling down the side. He does seem to have it down now but it makes using the potty more difficult. On the positive side, I do like its look and the reservoir hole is a nice size that the poop goes inside and not all over the back of his seat like his other potty, its easy to empty, plus he seems comfortable. Also, I love the rubber that lines the entire perimeter of the base. It’s completely slip resistant which is really nice, but it has tipped slightly to the side a few times. I don’t regret buying this potty, but I’m certainly not its biggest fan either. My biggest complaint about all these potties in general is the pee shield. They just don’t make the cavern deep enough to catch the pee and it just ricochets off and makes a huge mess. So frustrating.UPDATE: I gave up and bought a new potty, a second of the other potty we have, the Safety First Comfy Cushy 3 in 1. Yeah the cushy seat soaks up some pee but I just set it on a paper towel over night to soak up the moisture. I’m not cleaning up anymore pee rings and getting frustrated. Only problem now is my wasting $40 instead of Safety First’s cheaper price. The Safety First has a deep enough cavern that boys don’t make messes. Maybe this Joovy works for girls but for boys it’s a piece of junk. So I’m taking off another star because it still has positives but only if you have a girl.
I cannot write a full review of this product yet but so far it is great. We are just starting the potty training process. My son had sat and read on this seat with no problems but had not done his "business" on it yet. It seems sturdy and easy to clean so I am happy with the purchase.
Sleek 5 star potty chair
I don’t have anything to add that the other reviewers haven’t already said. I love how easy it is to clean, the high potty guard for boys, the non slip on the bottom so it doesn’t move around. And for those of us who have to look at it all the time, it’s really cool looking LOL. Even my husband (who can care less about these things) mentioned how attractive this loo was! Definitely recommend! Nice work Joovy!!
Tips over easily
This was everything the reviews noted minus a very important issue. Clean, simple, but nobody stated it tips over when the child sits on it and reaches for something. Fortunately, we are just in the introduction stages and are practicing with pants on right now so there was no big problem. I would not recommend this because of this. Considering returning as it is going to be a spill issue when I really get to the potty training. Easy to clean as stated but I bet not so much when you mop the mess off the floor.
Finally – my son can do “both” while sitting with no mess!
My 4-year old, who is small for his age, could not sit on the potty and go both #1 and #2 without making a mess. To get his little bottom in the right place meant there was pee all over the potty and/or floor. (I can’t imagine I’m the only one with this issue….right?) I did a little research and found that this potty chair was supposed to have a larger bowl. I hesitated at spending thirty bucks on a potty chair, but since the Amazon ad specifically offered a free return, I decided to try it. I’m so glad I did…..the combination of the larger bowl and generous guard in front means no more messes. My *only* complaint is that I wish it came with a lid for travel and/or to use as a stool.
Seems more comfy to sit on for a wee ones bum than a lot of other brands. Good shield for boys bits and no creases or awkward components for wiping clean. Tidy and unoffensive unit to have sitting in the lounge room or anywhere while encouraging the minion to be comfortable in ‘going potty’. Great buy.
Easy to clean and my kids love to sit on it!! I may need to get a second one since my 2nd child, who is still not all that ready yet, wants to sit on it every time his big brother is on it.
