Very pleased

The video on this monitor is far better than any other I’ve ever had. It does not have night vision, which is really too bad because it would have made it a great all in one monitor. With adequate light, however, the picture quality cannot be surpassed. Perfect for keeping an eye on baby while napping during the day.I absolutely love the extra features on this monitor, namely the pan, tilt and zoom. Admittedly, I use this more for my elderly mother than I do for my little ones. She tends to wander at times and can end up outside and in the street quicker than I can respond most of the time. With the ability to pan the camera around the room, I can see if she’s just gotten up and moved or if she’s actually gone out the back door by noting if it was left open. I keep this monitor on my desk while I’m working at home to help me keep an eye on her when it’s just she and I in the house. If only this monitor had the ability to link multiple units to the receiver, I would quickly replace all others I’ve used in the past. That said, though, it is still a fantastic baby monitor. I can’t say that I’ve honestly used it to capture video or pictures, though I can see how in a pinch it would be nice to catch a potentially adorable moment before it passes. I’m not really sure how much it can store as I didn’t receive a manual with mine but I can’t imagine it has a very large storage given that it’s primary function is as a monitor. The onscreen interface is very intuitive and responsive which makes it a joy to use and the battery life is really impressive for a unit of this type. It makes moving from room to room much easier when you don’t have to drag an AC adapter everywhere you go.Overall, I think it’s a great monitor if a single camera meets your needs. Highly recommended for the high quality picture, sound and battery life.

Great Picture But Frustrating

I’ve been using this monitor a few days. It only comes with a quick set up guide, not a full manual, which you have to download from the website. Problem? Keera isn’t listed among the current or discontinued models on the website. Most of the set up was fairly easy, but I wasn’t able to insert the memory card properly, so just left it out. Without the memory card I haven’t been able to use the camera or video functions. The picture quality is very crisp, though it’s mostly in black & white (it’s a color monitor but needs a lot of light for color; the natural light in my kid’s room wasn’t enough). I love the tilt/pan feature. My toddler moves around a lot in his full size bed, so now I can adjust the camera to see him. The sound quality is okay. It picks up a lot of background noise (humidifier, dog barking in neighbor’s yard). My biggest complaint is that the main button (the circle you see in the product picture) illuminates a really bright blue. And, it blinks based on the sound it picks up (so if you have the volume down, you can “see” if your baby is making noise). I’ve reduced the sound sensitivity and volume, but it still blinks bright blue, which is very distracting when I’m trying to sleep. Even turned upside down, I can still see the flashing blue light. Since I can’t find the manual on the website, I don’t know if this feature can be dimmed or turned off.I’ve had 3 other monitors, and while the picture quality on this one is by far the best, it isn’t my favorite one.

I don’t know how I lived without this!

I was not sure if a video monitor was worth it, so I priced them out and looked at all of the options out there. I discovered this one as a lightening deal and bought it for a great price, but the peace of mind this video monitor gives me makes it worth every penny of the full price! I can leave the video screen on for a continuous view of my daughter sleeping or put it on peep mode to listen and check in when needed. I can comfortably get things done around the house while keeping an eye on my baby- I wish I’d gotten this when she was first born! You can remotely turn music (3 songs) on and even talk to your baby to soothe them back to sleep. I really cannot recommend this enough!

2013 State of the Art in baby monitoring!

Things have certainly changed since I last had a little baby, 6+ years ago. The two monitors we used back then were audio only, and were somewhat adequate when it came to determining whether the baby needed checking on.This Levana Keera camera/remote is an amazing improvement, albeit an expensive one!On the camera side: finding an adequate place to either mount it or position it on a table, within reach of an a/c outlet, keeping the power cord out of baby’s reach, is the initial challenge. Note, though, that this isn’t JUST a camera. It’s capable of playing lullabies, and of transmitting your voice from the remote. The lens also rotates side-to-side, and up-and-down, and does so very quietly. There is also a fair-to-middling zoom feature. On the remote side: the hand-held remote has the look of one of today’s smartphones or videogames. It’s deceptive in that way, because it has screen icons like you’d see on your ipad, but they are not touch-sensitive. They’re controlled by the little directional dial down on the lower right hand corner of the device. I don’t know how many times I’ve poked at, or tried to drag the icons, only to remember to go back to the thing in the corner. After downloading the manual and quickly reviewing it, I was able to navigate around the features very easily. Once the remote was fully charged, I disconnected it from the power cord and carried it around, and discovered the limits of the signal range fairly quickly: so, I can’t take the remote out on the front porch on a nice day! This Keera unit has a lot of features that are really nice, but certainly not essential to “baby monitoring”. You can tell the camera to snap still photos, or take video, you can talk to your baby through the camera, you can have it play lullabies…. there are elements of this contraption that make me think of security/surveillance, which I’m not too comfortable with. Although more and more our world is filling up with surveillance cameras, I’m not sure I want one of the first things the baby gets familiar with is a wall-mounted surveillance camera! The lullabies/voice feature just call attention to something I’d rather the baby not be aware of. But that’s just me.I’m impressed with the quality of the camera image, even in low light, and its ability to pick up sound. Although where I’ve mounted the camera I can see the entire crib, it’s nice to be able to point the camera elsewhere if needed. Also of note: the manual wasn’t available online when I first went to the website, and I emailed customer service about it. They responded with an email, w/ the pdf manual attached, within 12 hours. Solid.I will probably update this review again in a couple of months after further use. For now, though, if you are comfortable with the price, and the product specs (especially the signal range) look good to you, this is a great buy.2/2014 update: the biggest drag about this turns out to be the signal range. It periodically flashes the “no signal” icon at distances where it shouldn’t be an issue. Moving the unit around a foot or two usually fixes this, but this inconsistency is a little annoying, making me want to adjust my rating to, say, 4.5 stars. Other than that… so far, so good!

A real time saver and stress reducer. There is some room for improvement, but nothing worth waiting for.

Right now, this is one of the best video baby monitors available. There is definitely room for improvement, but since this isn’t the sort of thing that you can wait a year for, I’d go ahead and buy it now. When our parent’s generation was raising us, they had to constantly stop what they were doing to check on their babies, risking waking the baby just in the process of checking to see if he or she was awake. Then came audio baby monitors that somewhat reduced the problem, but anyone that has ever used one of those knows that it only lets you know if the baby is crying or not. An audio only baby monitor won’t tell you if the baby is awake and quiet or asleep.Video baby monitors were the next step in that evolution, but they used to be both wired to an outlet, and immobile. You could neither adjust what the camera was seeing nor walk around the house with the screen, as you continued with your day. This video monitor from Levana is a huge improvement over earlier baby monitors. It enables you to see what the baby is doing while you do whatever you need to anywhere in the house. It not only saves a ton of time that would otherwise be spent checking on the nursery, but also relieves all the stress that comes with wondering how much longer you have before the baby finishes napping. The battery life is very good on this system. Even on days that I forget to charge it between uses, there is always ample time left on the charge to get me through the day.The signal strength between the camera and the display is great. Previous wireless video baby monitors would frequently lose their connections if you tried to walk around the house with the display. This one is rock solid in terms of maintaining a crystal clear image from the camera.I highly recommend this product both as a baby monitor and for other similar uses. There is room to improve, and I look forward to Levana or their competitors doing so. You might want to look out for products like this that offer these lacking but needed features.Smart phone integration. It would be nice to be able to just use our existing tablets, smartphones, or computers to monitor the video from the camera. If they made a version of this system that worked on our existing Wifi network and allowed us to just monitor the video from the camera on our existing devices that would be preferable to carrying around and charging a separate display. This arrangement may add complexity to the system, but I think the flexibility would be worth it.Low light performance. The camera in this system is great in brightly lit room, but is less clear in a darkened or dimly lit room. Considering the purpose of this system, improving the low light performance of the camera seems like an obvious area for improvement. It isn’t terrible the way it is, but if they made a version that was better in this area, I would definitely get it instead.HD video. The resolution on this system is barely adequate. If a system with better resolution existed, I would buy that instead.

Great value

For the price, this product delivers crisp video, sound, and battery. We use it as a way to keep an eye on our daughter. So far it’s worked out pretty darn well. Sure, the picture could be better but we’re not exactly filming movies here. We haven’t had a problem with the range. Overall, it’s a great product that lets you keep an eye on your loved ones.

The Levana Keera has a lot of interesting features that are a definite improvement over the Levana Aislin …

One thing that many young parents like seeing come there way are “green” products. Naturally it’s not possible for the baby monitor itself to be “green,” but the packaging was minimal and recyclable. Mine did not come with a manual, but there is an easily accessible 20-page one online. Setup is easy, but we all have to keep in mind our own particular circumstances. For example, this monitor runs on a 2.4 GHz frequency and so do a lot of other things such as microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and cordless telephones.I’ve laid out the specs below so you can see if this particular monitor fits your lifestyle or not. If not, you may wish to check out a baby monitor on a different frequency. More than likely you won’t be running everything at once so this one may be perfect for you. If you’d like you can add theLevana 32104 Era Additional Camerato complement this one. This is an excellent, affordable monitor for use with not only babies, but younger children at play.
