Doesn’t work the way we had hoped
We had a plastic mat underneath our high chair for the first two years for our daughter… It was very useful, the only downside being that it wasn’t that attractive and things sometimes got under it. All in all it was fine and we replaced it because it was getting worn out, and we thought we would get something more attractive and fun.Enter the Splashmat – we put it under the high chair and gave it a go – but we expected it to be a little tougher and thicker so that we could move a chair on it without it bunching up, and that it would stay flat. It does not stay flat – Every time we pull the chair in and out it bunches up and wrinkles. Though we can straighten it out, it requires constant attention and re-laying. Not what we needed, and we have stopped using it and folded it away to use for picnics or as a beach throw, we guess. It’s pretty and probably would be good for that, but fails as a under table mat to keep things clean.

This thing is huge
I was expecting something a bit smaller in area and thicker. Basically this is just a huge piece of plasticized material, and although I have had it spread out under the baby’s chair for a couple of months now, it still has the fold wrinkles and just doesn’t look neat. Too bad I can’t iron it!
Adorable, but. . .
The mat is absolutely adorable but it does tend to bunch under the fisher price rainforest highchair. We wind up re-spreading it out before each use. That said it cleans easily and covers a wide area when it lays flat. And so far seems more durable than the baby Einstein mat.
I’m a fan!
Great product – eco friendly, made in the USA, and free of harmful chemicals for children, pets, and adults. PLUS it’s cute and functional. Even though there are many complaints about it being too thin or bunching up I would suggest velcro-ing it or adding a thin strip of of something heavier along the underside of the edges. All in all I recommend this.
Great choice
I’m very happy with this mat, even though it was pricey. It is one of the few PVC-free mats I could find. The best thing about it is that you can throw it in the washing machine. It does come out a little wrinkly (I line dry it) but it lays down nice and flat without curling at the edges. It is plasticized so it’s easy to wipe off, yet it’s heavy enough that it doesn’t slip around. I wish they made a smaller one because I would also recommend this for taking to restaurants to avoid having your server hate you for creating a mess. I guess you could just cut a big one in half.
