great idea, terrible follow through
I think this is a great concept. Unfortunately the bottle is HEAVY. And the mixing unit never really gets cleaned out when you shake it, so there’s always wet goo left, so this thing needs to be scrubbed. I wouldn’t purchase this item again.
Awesome and convenient
This bottle is amazing! It is my go to for any activity where I need to take my kid out and about. It is amazingly convenient to pop the lid off the dry formula and shake up on the go. My only gripe is that the large bottle comes with a "stage 2" nipple and I need a "stage 1". I had to buy a third party nipple in the mean time, but it is no big deal. This thing is awesome for parents and kids on th go.
We love this product – it has completely changed the way we are able to be out and about with our baby, and saves a ton (and reduces waste) from using those pre-made disposable bottles. The only reason I give it 4 stars rather than 5 is because although it says I can hold 8 ounces, the cup that holds the formula powder really only comfortably holds enough powder for 6-7 ounces. Getting powder in there for 8 ounces is extremely tight – to where you can hardly put the lid on.
Changed my life!
Conceptually I was excited about this bottle and I was willing to spend the money to buy one just to see if it would live up to all the hype. And YES IT DID! It works exactly as shown! The only complaint I have (and thus i gave it four stars) is that it only comes with stage 2 nipples which means if you have a little one like I do you have to purchase nipples separately. Otherwise it’s a godsend. Buy it today! P.S. after owning the first one for a week I ordered another. I would buy ten if they weren’t so pricey, but they are so worth it!!
Water leaks into formul compartment
I was really excited about these bottles but the water kept leaking into the formula compartment. I tried a couple and they both would leak the water into the formula compartment. I didn’t notice right away until I went to wash the bottles and saw most of the formula clumped at the bottom of the formula container. I have now returned them.
Best thing ever!
These bottles…..are amazing. I have four Mixie bottles and may even buy more! Late night feedings were made simple with these bottles! I always had two bottles pre-made and in my newborn son’s nursery, ready at the drop of a hat! My son is a growing boy and he is insanely impatient when it comes to getting his bottle. I hated hearing him scream while I was making his bottle. With these Mixie bottles, all I have to do is press the bottom in and shake up really well! And the bottle is done! It’s also super convenient for the diaper bag, on car rides, and for when you have babysitters watching your child. At $20 per bottle, my husband wasn’t too happy when I purchased these, but even he’s said that these bottles are the best things ever.If you know parents who are formula feeding their little ones, this is perhaps the best gift around!
I can’t believe I JUST found this!!
This product is absolutely amazing. Took me a minute or so to figure out how it works (you have to push the bottom button pretty hard) but now it’s easy peasy. I leave this with my daughter’s daycare as her "extra" bottle in case she’s very hungry. Before, I was throwing out that extra bottle almost every day and wasting money. Well worth it for those savings alone! Not to mention, it’s a lifesaver to bring out to restaurants, in the car, etc… I will probably order another one, just wish it weren’t so pricey. Also – it’s got a wide mouth nipple, so my Nuk nipples could fit in there. This was a big deal because my daughter refuses to drink out of anything else.
It’s really just OK
I was immediately drawn to the convenience this product would provide. A bottle ready for my baby in seconds, really? I heard a local DJ on the radio bragging about it (was it a commercial for the boutique this was sold in is now my question) and decided I needed to have it for so many reasons. (1) we travel often (2) my 9 month still wakes up hungry in the middle of the night and (3) just plain ol’ convenience when we are out running errands, no need to get messy and attempt at getting all the formula from the separator which is a task in itself INTO the not so wide mouth of a bottle.Well, upon first wash, I was a little upset that after paying $20 plus tax, it streaked after I sterilized it- really? On the first wash and sterilizing? I decided to try to get over it… then we actally used it while traveling…. The bottle is WAY too HEAVY for my 9 month old to feed himself. He can easily hold his Dr. Brown, Tommie Tippee, and Avent bottles with 8 oz in them, no sweat. The mixie frustrates him because it’s too heavy. Once he gets down to 5 oz or less he seemed to do fine.To put it plain and simple, the bottle is bulky, it’s costly for one bottle, and it’s got a lot going on- the cap, the nipple, the bottle itself, the mixing part, the lid to the mixing part, then the screw to the bottom. If you’re willing to go through all the trouble, it’s actually kind of cool that you can push one buttom and bam, you shake and it’s ready to go in seconds, but keep in mind, if your baby is at the stage where he or she likes to hold their bottle for their own sense of independence, it is heavy. If it were say, $10 maybe $12 it wouldn’t be so disapointing but it’s $20 for an 8oz bottle, that’s a little steep for trying out a product and it not really meeting your expectations.
Very handy for on demand
The functionality of this is really good- better than those who came before.I dock 1 star partly for the price ($20 per bottle a little egregious) and partly because its a little tricky to get dry (basically you can’t dry it and use it right away and you really need to let it air dry…which means you need more than 1 if you plan to use these for on-the-go).All this said, when you are driving or mid-lunch or at someone’s home that isn’t ready for your kiddo mixology out of your diaper bag…this thing is great…5 seconds and babes is eating.I use my Dr. Brown’s wide neck nipples in it- not a perfect fit- but they do work and don’t leak. I also use the cover to my Dr. Brown’s wide neck bottles and they fit perfectly.
Great idea, but no air goes back into the bottle
This is a better travel bottle than most (and it doesn’t leak!) but it takes forever to feed our son a bottle with this because the little hole that is supposed to pull air back into the bottle when he sucks doesn’t do anything. We have to pull the bottle out of his mouth every minute or so because the nipple keeps collapsing and he’s not getting anything out. Bottom line: okay for occasional use, but not for everyday.
I can’t recommend this product enough. I admit I thought the price was high when I purchased this bottle. But it has saved us so many times. My baby is very impatient at times. I can’t imagine using a regular bottle and scooping formula in the middle of the doctor’s office or a crowded store. With this you just pull it out and press the button, and you have a fresh bottle. So easy.
LOVE this bottle. Only difficulty is only having 1 due to having so many parts to wash between uses. Saves time when we are out and about.
I love this bottle
When I made the transition from breastfeeding to formula feeding, it was always a huge hassle to make a bottle. I found the Mixie on line and decided to try it and I love it. It’s perfect for restaurants, planes and traveling.
Although these are good for travel, the size and number of parts makes this bottle too cumbersome for everyday and daycare use.
Great for on the go
These bottles are very convenient. I originally used them for nighttime feedings. Now that my child sleeps through the night, I use them for traveling and running errands. They are SO convenient. What a great invention. The only downside is the ventilation. My daughter seems to suck too hard for the nipple to keep up. I pull the bottle out every few ounces to let the air circulate.
