Expensive but high-quality — frozen cubes fit Green Sprouts Glass Cubes and Munchkin Freezer Cups

The videos showing how the frozen food can be removed from these trays were helpful. The cubes aren’t always easy to remove, but I’m not usually in such a huge hurry to get them out in 2 seconds flat.Although I agree with most of the previous reviewers about the price and high-quality, I don’t want to merely repeat what other reviewers have said, so I’ll limit my review to mentioning one tip about its use, one tip about baby food recipes and two products that interface well with this one:1. Brushing the insides of the tray with coconut oil before filling with puree seems to make the frozen cubes slide out easier. This way, the trays are really easy to clean too, with hardly any residue left behind.2. For other recipes, has been a good resource.3. Compatible products: Green Sprouts glass cubes; Munchkins freezer cupsThe two products listed above are just the right size for holding the “cubes” of purees frozen in the Mumi & Bubi trays. No chiseling or thawing is necessary to get the cubes to fit.

This is okay…

This is ok if your child will eat baby food like this. It is difficult to get each section out of the tray. I would freeze a couple different foods at a time and put them in a ziplock bag in the freezer for easy use. Our son however preferred grinded up food of whatever we were eating so after the first couple batches of frozen baby food were made we put the trays up and just grinded up what we were having at each meal. This product didn’t work well for us.

not very durable

I love the concept, too bad the product wasn’t very durable. Unfortunately, my tray cracked after two weeks of use. I moved on to silicone and haven’t looked back since.

LOVE these!

I am just starting my baby on solids now and was researching ways to store in the freezer. I have ZERO freezer space so I was looking into getting some ice-cube trays when I came upon these. They were sold out at the time but I liked the design so much that I waited for them to re-stock. They are definitely worth it. At first I didn’t understand how to get the cubes out. I was trying to push the outside of the cube when you actually have to push the cube itself. I found a youtube video that shows exactly how to do it; just search for “Free baby food recipe – 3 How to remove MumiandBubi Cubes”.They are quite pricey but I’m happy with my purchase and for us they are well worth it.Pros1. slim design doesn’t take up much space2. lid fits great and is easy to get off3. stacks easily in freezer4. small portion size allows for quick and even defrost5. rounded bottom makes removal easy6. can be used for ice/juice/coffee cubes when babe is done using them so they are a great investmentCons1. $$2. I think a picture showing the removal of the cubes would be helpful in the instructions as I was confused but maybe that’s just me…

Expensive Ice Cube Tray

I’m not sure why this has received such great reviews. I thought it might be a pliable material that I could pop the frozen foods out of easily. It’s just hard plastic, much like an ice cube tray. I could not get anything to pop out of the tray by pushing the bottom. I had to use a knife to pry each cube out and then stick it in a ziploc bag. I would not purchase this product again and instead would rather have a silicone product.

Great for making baby food

These trays are great for making my daughter’s baby food. The cubes slide out easily after I run a little water over the back. Easy to clean and stack very nicely in the freezer.

I was really looking forward to using this…

I’m making my own baby food and was looking for a bpa free freezer tray, which seems difficult to find until I saw this one. I made a batch of puréed food and froze it in this tray and I cannot get ANY cubes out, not one! I am now defrosting the entire tray 🙁 Not happy with this. Returning it!

Milk Cubes

I purchased 1 set of these so that I could freeze milk in 1 ounce cubes. Almost two months in and they’re working out perfectly! Having 2 trays has been perfect to rotate, they wash up well on the top rack of the dishwasher and stack nicely in the freezer. I can even mark the dates or write notes on them in dry erase marker and it wipes right off the lid at the end of each batch. At least for milk, I haven’t had to run them under hot water yet as the cubes release easily out of the rounded wells simply by pushing on one side of the cube. They slide right up. I typically use the end of a spoon to push down and slide them all up, then use tongs to grab them and pop them into dated freezer bags. 21 cubes (ounces) fit nicely into a quart size freezer bag. After doing a lot of looking around for the “right” tray that has exactly 1 ounce cubes, I’m happy I settled on these, although they’re a bit pricey, they work great!

LOVE these!!

My lil man started solids and I decided to make my own homemade fruits and veggies for him. The idea of freezing the food in ice cube trays? Genius! Finding ice cube trays that would make it easy to prevent freezer burn, keep my food covered in the freezer and easy to take out… was not as easy as it seemed! After trying a few other cheaper options and trays, I was unhappy. Either they didnt have covers, they didnt let the food come out easy, or didnt freeze in a decent quantity. Then I found these trays. And let me say, its WORTH IT! Pay a little more and save yourself the headache. Super easy to just push and slide the food out! Came with 2 trays and 2 covers. The slots a perfect 1 oz sizes that make it easy for me to portion out servings. LOVE these! Thank you Mumi&Bubi

Must have if you make your own baby food

These are great for freezing baby food. All you have to do is run warm water along the bottom of the cups that you want to take out and they pop right out. Super easy and no need to twist the tray.

Perfect for mixing foods, so easy to use!

What I love about this product:1) easy to pour food in and use spatula to spread food evenly over the wells2) easy to get food out3) 1 oz portions make it simple to blend 2 or more foods together4) decent number of wells make it easy to prepare food for a few weeks aheadThings I don’t like:the price 🙂 Honestly I think it is over priced. But I’d but it over again at the price I paid because I do love these trays.

Mae Necedah, WI

You don’t HAVE to have this but it’s pretty awesome

I was a bit dubious about this because of the price but I figured I could afford to splurge a little since I already owned a monster blender and all I needed were trays. You can totally get the same result using ice cube trays which are a lot cheaper. The big pluses for me with the Mumi&Bubi; trays is that they can fit a lot of cubes in a very efficient space (cause who has room in their fridge for 6+ ice cube trays? We certainly don’t) and each cube is an ounce which makes it really easy to judge how much to give to the baby. The other bonus is that I actually have a lot of fun pushing the cubes out of their wells. It’s really not something anything else cares about, but it’s something I look forward to doing when I make baby food. =DAnyone who’s having trouble with getting the food out really should have read the instructions or watched the video on their site. The trick is to let the food thaw a tiny bit so they slide out when you push on them. Vegetables will stick a little more than fruits and require a little more thawing out. There is no need to bang the tray or twist it, and if you need to run some hot water over it, it’s really easy to just shake off the water so it doesn’t get into the food. It’s really not supposed to be complicated so if it is, you’re probably doing it wrong. =)I love this product and I show it to my friends, but I wouldn’t say it’s an absolute necessity for making baby food. If you have a little extra cash though, it’s a good buy!

Easy out!

We love these trays for freezing my daughter’s purees. These are really simple to use. We run a bit of warm water over the trays before popping out the cubes. They slide out after doing so. Excellent purchase!

Marlene Elmira, CA

It’s a gift! BUT…

… I used to work as a sitter while I was going to college and I used those trays to put the baby food. It’s a perfect size for one meal (1 unit) for a up to 5 months baby. And 2 units+ for babies 5+ months old. it’s really a great product.

Audrey Sabillasville, MD

Great for storing/pain to use

These containers are perfect for measuring out and storing baby food. However I do find it a pain to get the food out. I run water over the back but they are sometimes hard to push out regardless. Then if you run too much water the food starts to melt. They are easy and convenient for there purpose. I would purchase again.

Work Great for me!

These work great! Just for those of you who might not pay a whole lot of attention to things, they’re clear… not colored.I got these and then read a lot about how people struggle with getting out the cubes. Some of my cubes require no weight on the one side to get them out… while others require quite a bit of pressure. My fingers got cold and I kept running them through warm water but all of the cubes came out just fine and we didn’t break the mold!I did warn my husband and tell him how to use it so i don’t come home one day to shattered trays.

Chrystal Phelps, WI

Perfectly Designed, if a bit pricey.Ultimately worth every penny!

I almost gave these 4 stars JUST because the price is a little high for a freezer tray in my opinion. HOWEVER, I gave it 5 stars because ultimately I think it’s worth the price. It is so easy to extract the cubes from the tray (as compared to regular ice trays). Purees and breast milk are a bit sticky even when frozen, so the cubes don’t slip out as easily as ice from a regular tray. Lots of prying or you must warm them a bit before extracting. These trays have solved that issue because of the slope design. No twisting, you just push down on one end of the “cube” and it slides right out! Also, the lids are great! They stack well and take up very little freezer space. The cubes freeze and defrost much more quickly that regular cubes because of the shape which is a real benefit. I’m so glad I bought these! I’d recommend them to anyone! Not just for baby food, but also for freezing stock, soups, etc…

These have been awesome for making my daughter’s food as an infant! I love that you can just push one side and the cube pops right out. I recommend running the bottom of the tray under warm water before trying to get cubes out to make it a little easier.

Shelley Mead, WA

I recommend it

This is my favourite solids food kit. It keeps my baby food clean, safe and ready to eat. it is good for a busy mom who needs to storage the solid food instead of making it everyday.

Perfect for making your own baby food

I never thought I’d have the time to make my own baby food and instead was ordering fresh organic food from a company that ships it to you on dried ice. I finally decided to give it a try and have to say making my son’s food is something I really enjoy. I love knowing that he is getting fresh, organic food that I have made. These trays work so well. I puree the food, use a spoon to scoop it into the trays, put them in the freezer and transfer to bags the next day. The shape of these makes it very easy to pop out the food.

Selina Lewisburg, PA

I love these!!! They are so easy to use. They’re kind of pricey, but totally worth it if it stops you from buying prepackaged baby food. I’m thinking about buying a 2nd set so I can do more food at a time.

Casey Reynolds, GA

So Easy! Great for Baby Food

I had previously tried other, cheaper trays for freezing baby food. They were all crap. I decided to bite the bullet nd purchase these. Best decision ever. The frozen food easily slides out of these trays. I just use a spoon and gently push on one side of ech cube and it pops right out. These are a must have if you make your own baby food.

Celia Rinard, IL

I love this thing.

I’ve frozen sweet potatoes, acorn squash, butternut squash, apples (our baby’s (and my) favorite), bananas, etc in these and it is SO EASY and so nice to have ready-made baby food for our crazy days. I love making whatever combinations I want for her and love knowing exactly what’s in them. I am really really busy and it took me next to no time to cook and puree a few things, and I think what we have will last until she’s over pureed foods altogether. Highly recommended!

Rosalyn Streeter, ND

These are SO much better than ice cube trays! The frozen food pops out so easily! I run the back under hot water, then push on one side of the cube and it slides right out. I haven’t had any trouble so far in getting the cubes out. The other thing I love is how easy these are to clean. Because they are rounded, they are SO much easier to clean then a cube shape. The lid stays on fine upright, but if you tipped the tray over the lid would probably fall off. These stack nicely and freeze well, I haven’t had any cracking yet. My only regret is not buying 2 sets. These are definitely a winner!

Kelsey Nobleton, FL

Does the job

I make food and it’s good because it doesn’t take a lot of space in the freezer but it’s hard to take out each one. I wish it would slide out easier.

Gwendolyn Bonneau, SC

love the size

I used this for the first time this weekend and am happy with the product overall. After freezing the pureed veggies, I did find it a bit difficult to remove them right away from the trays. I didn’t want much of it to defrost to remove it (I wanted it as solid as possible since I was storing it in a frozen zip lock bag for later use). I ended up running cold water to get it slightly thawed from the tray and pushed it pretty hard to get the food out. It does slide out easily but you have to use some force and after 21 times of doing it, your thumb gets sore. It would be best if they made it out of silicone as the Beaba brand does.

Shelly Lamont, FL

Fancy, lidded ice tray – but does the trick!

I’ve only used these a handful of times since my recent purchase, but am so far pleased as they work as they should. The food cubes need a bit of muscle to get them out, but if you follow the directions you’ll be in good shape. The lid fits well and stays locked tight. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the purchase.

Great way to start introducing new foods to baby

I plan to generally make all of our baby food, so I needed a way to help make more than a couple meals at a time, especially when at the beginning, she would eat maybe 1 baby carrot worth of puree. These trays make it easy to freeze food in good portions for introducing foods, and I’ve had a lot of fun using them. I generally have to run a touch of water across the back of the cube I want (they say you shouldn’t need to for most fruits, but I may be using too much water), but since I am right there anyway, its not a big deal.As our daughter (7mos at the time of writing) gets older and eats more, she will likely outgrow these sizes, but for now, they are great!

Rosalinda Buffalo Center, IA

These work just great. They’re a little difficult to remove but if you run them under a warm faucet for a little bit they release easier.

Suzette Churchville, VA

Love this product!

This product! I make all my son’s food and found this product extremely helpful. Each cube is 1 oz. which makes portion control easy. Also, if the cube won’t come out, just run a little hot water (as it says in instructions) on back and they pop right out.
