This is overrated and overpriced product
I don’t know why this product is so popular. It’s full of chemicals that you don’t want to put on your baby skin. More than this when I washed my baby with this it made my hands very dry and itchy. I’m sure baby’s gentle skin feels even worse than this.
I bought this b/c I heard good things about this brand. Too drying and overpriced. I don’t recommend it at all
The smell. The lather. The product. This baby shampoo/soap is fantastic. We like that it doesn’t take much soap to create lots of lather…which is nice due to cost.
This is a strong smelling wash. I thought it would be pleasant like the Mustela no rinse wash and the foam shampoo, but it’s much stronger. It smells very strong like an old lady’s perfume. It was not what I wanted my baby boy to smell like. He sneezed in the bath when I was using it. I wish I could return it, but I used it once.
Makes my baby really smell like a baby! I love the creamy formula, but my baby’s scalp did get a little dry from shampooing every alternate day so i’ve cut 1 star for that.
Good product strong scent
The doctor suggested that I use this on my son because he has a light case of eczema and it seems really nice is lathers well however the scent is really strong
It smells nice, that’s about it.
Not sure why this came so highly recommended. I think it smells nice but that’s about it. Not a user friendly container considering your have to keep your hand on a baby for most of their bath and you need two hands to get the soap to come out. Wish it had a pump. Not worth the price. I just don’t think it’s that special.
My 3 year old has eczema, in the first few months we quickly ruled out Johnson & Johnson products, our pediatrician recommended Cetaphil products; Cetaphil smelled good and worked fine for his skin, but I still had to use a shampoo on his hair as the Cetaphil left his fine hair brittle and tangled. After all this time I decided to look for something new, and found this Mustela 2-in-1. Skeptical of the shampoo portion, my pediatrician said it is another good brand for sensitive skin, so we tried it out anyway. LOVE IT. It makes his hair SO soft and managable, without looking dirty or oily in any way. It actually does a better job than the shampoo/conditioner I was using that was not for sensitive skin (which is why I wanted something new). I also love the smell of this product. It is light and clean. My new favorite product for my toddler’s bath time, I plan to stock up.
We love Mustela products. This is very helpful when you travel cause you have the shampoo and the body wash in one. We regularly use the separate shampoo, but this one works too. Smells great
Please allow me to save you time…this is the Cadillac of baby bath products
A very wise friend gifted the Mustela starter set to me a few years ago for my shower and while I used mostly all of the products fully, this particular product wasn’t included at the time, thus prompting me on my very expensive and disappointing quest to find the ultimate baby bathing products. Let’s be clear: you certainly can use J&J;, Burt’s Bees, Aveeno, Angel Baby, California Baby, Pretentious Baby or whatever you like without my judgment, as this review isn’t an homage to all things green and organic. It’s in fact quite the contrary. While I can appreciate why that is important to many, after 3 years of testing products, both organic and otherwise; I’ve come full circle with my original gut instinct: organic products simply can’t get done the same job that “formulated” products can. I am sorry to all the tree loving moms out there, but I have found this to be true with both my husband and my products as well as our kids.Sorry…I digress. Back to the product review. This product, and all others by this maker, are head and shoulders above the rest. Here’s why:1. The scent. It’s perfect, heavenly and lingers on both of my kids until the next bath rolls around. I have actually found that their body heat intensifies the smell.2. It cleans. It also lathers beautifully. Not to say that indicates it’s cleaning (as I’ve been told it doesn’t) but truth be told, I’m old school here. Good lather = good clean.3. Rinses easily and leaves hair soft, shiny and tangle free.4. It lasts. no pumps, just squeeze a small amount in your hand, rub your hands together and apply. As other reviewers have pointed out, a little goes a long way.4. While I cannot speak to it’s chemical composition, sadly I admit that it’s French, so, uh, I trust it.Overall, run don’t walk to grab this one and save money by ending your quest to find the perfect cleanser.
Mustela is a MUST!
I love this line of bathing products for our baby. Used since day 1 and has never broken out. Everyone always comments on how great he smells too! The foaming shampoo is also great to wash his hair quick and easy rinse!
Perhaps the best baby wash product out there. Have used it with both my kids, and love how it leaves their skin soft and smelling great and not strong of perfumes.
I highly recommend this hair and body wash for babies with sensitive skin. Here’s the breakdown of pros and cons:1) Like: the fragrance is not too strong and smells amazing, the formula rinses well and does not lather too much, and we haven’t had any allergic reactions2) Don’t like: it’s one of the more expensive cleansers (but it does last for a while since you only need a little bit to wash the whole baby)There’s not much else to say about it!
Washes out easily
We love this baby shampoo because it washes out easily. Nothing is worse than a baby shampoo that requires lots and lots of water to rinse out so that the baby loses patience and starts crying in the tub. This shampoo cleans well but washes with a few rinses of clean water. In fact, we like this soap so much we use it as an overall body wash as well. The smell is also pleasant and not too strong.
Nice scent but not “natural” as some describe
Some describe this product as natural, however these products contain parabens and other preservatives. Spend a couple more bucks and get some California Baby products.
Smells so good and seems to work well for cradle cap! It’s a good amount of the money, too. Love it!
I’m a Mustela faithful. I LOVE the smell and results it gives my baby’s skin. The 2 in 1 lathers up great and a little goes a long way.
perfect for babies
my middle kiddo had sensitive skin and i was recommended to use mustela. one use and i was hooked. her skin never had issues after that and although the smell is strong and somewhat medicinal, it smells super clean.
different scent from the dermo cleanser
I love Mustela! especially for newborns. This shampoo though has a different scent from the dermo cleanser which you can use for the scalp and the body too. wish it had the same scent though and i would have given 5 stars. but no matter what mustela is the best! especially for young babies
This brand is a baby must have!
Okay, we are two guys and we don’t have any experience with babies. So when we had our daughter (by surrogacy) we got a lot of help. This product line was one of the things we recieved and we use it all the time. It smells fantastic, and people say it smells "like a baby". It works well, she likes having it put on her, and it cleans her up super good. They also have a baby skin lotion that also smells the same, and works fantastically. This is one of those secrets that you mom got from your grandmother, and they decided to let you in on it. The product is golden!!!
Love the Mustela scent!
I love the way Mustela smells. I am obsessed with the scent so much I use my kids wash, lotion and the Musti Perfume too! This all in one does the job without parabens and leaves us smelling clean!
Mustela is the best
I love Mustela products. They have a faint smell that is so nice. The products are super gentle on your baby, too. Most importantly, they don’t have many of the harmful chemicals found in J&J products.
Excellent for sensitive skin
We eventually tried Mustela after failing to find a soap for our kids’ sensitive skin. This soap lathers well and leaves them with a light, fresh scent. We love it and it does great on their skin.
great product! works well. Smells nice. keeps baby nice and clean and does not burn her eyes if it accidentally gets into her eyes. No complaints.
Smells wonderful, it lasts forever and keeps my baby skin and hair clean and smelling soo good. I always gel compliments on how beautiful my baby smells
Great For Baby AND Mommy!
I had a strange reaction when I first gave my baby a bath with this product. I felt a little sad. My baby’s hair was slicked to the side, his body clean and he smelled like he was going out on his first date. All grown up already. My husband came up behind me and said “Our baby smells kinda…frou frou.” That’s when I realized that the perfume in this product is a bit strong and the product itself seems a bit concentrated. The next time I gave my baby a bath I used a pea-sized amount and the difference was amazing! My baby’s hair felt soft and not dried out, and he smelled clean and fresh, not like he was dipped in Chanel. Clearly a little bit of this stuff goes a LONG way. I’ve also used this on my baby’s face for his baby acne. It did not irritate his skin and his eyes were not irritated when I rinsed his hair. I ran out of make-up remover and used a tiny bit on a moistened cotton ball. Make-up came right off without scrubbing. Now I’m using it to wash my face. I LOVE this stuff and because you only need to use a little at a time, I’m going to have this tube for a very long time.UPDATE: I have switched to Weleda Calendula Shampoo & Bodywash for my baby, solely because I prefer the scent. However I will continue to use Mustela for myself since Mustela removes my eye makeup and Weleda does not.
Better than the dermocleansing
Forget the shampoo and soap, this is the way to go!!!!!!! This soap leaves Baby’s skin smooth and smelling great. No rash whatsoever. This was recommended by our pediatrician, and it has lived to our high expectations.
Love the Way It Makes My Baby Smell
This product works so well on my baby/toddler’s sensitive skin. It also smells SO good! The light, sweet scent stays in his hair for a full 24 hours. A little goes a long way with this product, and lasts for months, (even though I bathe my son every night.) I love it, and plan to use this product on my son, (and my next child!) for a very long time!
I’m a fan!
I wasn’t sure I liked the smell when I first got it (I’m very picky), but by the second day I was hooked. I’m now addicted to the smell of Mustela products. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Great for Baby and Mom
Love this because it’s paraben and pthalate free. Also gentle and non-sudsing. I find the smell fresh and not too overpowering once you rinse baby off, but the scent is rather strong while using it.
