Dangerous – Uneven Weight Distribution Causes Stroller To Fall
I purchased the Orbit infant stroller system a year and a half ago. Initially, my husband and I liked the convenience of rotating the car seat and docking it onto the stroller. However, we soon noticed a major problem. If your child is facing you (toward the handles), there is too much weight on the side of the handles. Therefore, if you put even a super light diaper bag or a shopping bag on the handles (or if you’re strolling uphill even without a diaper bag), the stroller will fall toward you. When my baby was 3 months old, I stopped on the street to tie my shoelace and the stroller came crashing forward. Fortunately, my baby was strapped in so he wasn’t hurt but the fall did startle him… and my soda on the handle bar spilled all over me. There are other problems with the Orbit system, but I think this design defect is a major problem that should be addressed.Recently, we had the same issue with the toddler stroller seat (my baby is now 16 months old and weighs about 27 pounds). I had my baby facing me and only had a sandwich bad on the handle bar that weighed at most 3 pounds. My baby was sleeping when I decided to check my mail. When my baby woke up, he sat up and leaned forward, which caused the stroller to fall forward again. My baby was strapped in so he wasn’t badly hurt other than the scrapes on his hands. However, this problem is a dangerous problem that Orbit should address immediately since another child may not be as lucky. The problem with the toddler stroller seat is that, in addition to the stroller being unbalanced as it is, the toddler seat flaps forward when a child sits up. You would think that the seat should be anchored so that the entire back of the seat won’t lift up when a child sits up but that is not the case. Therefore, the weight of the child leaning forward will cause the stroller to fall forward.I brought this problem to the attention of Orbit. They claimed it’s not a design defect and just offered a small discount on the G2 version. I find their response totally inadequate. There are other annoyances as well — the baby can’t put his feet up; it’s difficult to rotate the seat with one hand when you have to lift the bottom of the seat and the baby’s feet with the other hand; it is extremely difficult to fold up; it is incredibly heavy and big that it’s very hard to lift the stroller with the seat into a car trunk and even fit it there. I really regret buying the Orbit system.
LOOOOOOOOVE ORBIT STROLLER!!!
EVERYONE ALLLWAYS STOPS ME AND COMPLIMENTS THE STROLLER AND HOW AND TURNS 360. PERFECT STROLLER,I LOVE THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT SINCE HER FATHER IS 6’3 AND I’M 5’4 I USE THE MEDIUM HEIGHT AND HE USES THE HIGHEST.I JUST DON’T LIKE THE SNACK CONTAINER..ITS PERFECT MY DAUGHTER LOVES IT, HOWEVER SHE KICKS IT UP AND IT HITS HER IN HER HEAD, AND I ALSO SEEN THIS ON A STROLLER REVEIW.IN THE END THOUGH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
Bought this to transition from the Orbit G2 infant system and absolutely love it! The rotating aspect is our favorite feature. Allows us to bring our toddler to restaurants and leave her comfortable stroller, with snacks handy in the tray. The sunshade combined with the rotating base is a must during our daily morning walks. I see so many babies in their stroller facing the blazing sun and I am so glad I can spin mine around to face the opposite direction whenever needed. Would recommend to anyone! Orbit Baby never ceases to amaze me.
I love this stroller seat. I went back and forth about purchasing this item and decided to go for it. I already had the Orbit system and this stroller seat is great. When folded down on the stroller it is very flat. We recently took the system on a train ride and the carry bag that is included was great to have to tote the seat around in, the only negative is that the bag is a little tight to close. The only negative is that it is a little akward to fold, but that is very minor. Also, ours did not come with the ‘Orbit’ logo on the stroller bar. I contacted my seller but never got any response as to why the logo was left off. Other than that, I have had no issues.
Perfect for my stroller
Our baby felt really confined by the infant carseat and would not fall asleep when we had him in it. When we walk him with this seat he falls asleep no problem and i think is more comfortable. We have the previous version of the stroller, not the G2 and this works great.
Love the chic look and functionality of this stroller…but…….
I LOVE the idea of this stroller. My son actually refused to take naps unless it was in the toddler seat and he goes crazy over the side kick (as well as everyone who sees it). I only wish the handle didn’t break while I was trying to leave Disneyland. I don’t have an SUV or van so you could imagine my panic when I couldn’t remove the toddler seat from the base. I went with my toddler and newborn and my husband wasn’t with me. I almost had to leave this $2000 + travel system in the parking lot. Luckily I was able to fold it closed with the seat still attached and fit it in my back seat, yes with my two kids. My husband was able to drill out the rivets and replace the broken cord with bicycle cord, but a short time later the other side broke. I only wish they would do a recall on this seat and stop ignoring the faulty design. I also got this stroller as a gift but purchased all of the attachments….. literally all of them…down to the little sun shade for the toddler car seat. I recently bought the g3 seat to replace the g2 and I will let you all know if they have changed it 🙂
Love Love Love this stroller seat!!
Baby is so comfy in here and good to have all the angles. I was unsure how much the cream coloured canopy would shield from the sun but it does a great job and has lots of depth so sticky fingers can’t reach it. Love the footrest that the G1 did not have. Great that it can be used from birth too but as we used the capsule but baby was never that comfy
