TOO SLOW. SLOWER THAN SIMILAC/ ENFAMIL NIPPLES THEY USED IN THE NURSERY (HOSPITAL)
I bought the Playtex drop ins because it has a very good concept for a busy mom. We were travelling and thought this will be a good idea that I do not have to carry so many baby bottles and clean and sterilize them. The Slow Flow Silicone Nipple was way too slow, my 3 month old was frustrated and crying. She slept and didnt finish her formula which she normally does. She uses a no.1 nipple of Avent bottles which is comparable to slow flow so I thought I should get her a slow flow nipple of playtex as well. I tried sucking water from it and I myself can not get anything from the bottle. Now, I just purchased a Playtex Fast Flow latex nipple. I will review this nipple as soon as my baby tries on them.
Great for breastfeeding babies
This was the second type of nipple we tried with our daughter who is primarily breastfeed when we were starting bottles for daycare. She took to it right away and we haven’t had any problems. The nipple is very soft and the base is nice and wide, exactly what you want in a bottle for a breastfeed baby. The slow flow is just about perfect for her, she isn’t drowning in milk and does have to do some active sucking just like when she is at the breast.
These work so well for my newborn that I purchased extras. The flow is perfect; she doesn’t choke on them and she doesn’t have to suck really hard either. Easy to clean and more durable than the latex. Love the Drop-ins system!!!!
Worked well, seemed natural
We switched to this nipple after using various other brands that don’t have the plastic bag insert, but the our little one was not happy after eating usually.Switching to this seems to make a big difference (along with other changes). It is a much larger nipple than most other brands and it seems to be more natural. We moved from this at about 2.5 months to a medium (Playtex Drop-Ins NaturaLatch Silicone Nipple – Medium Flow – 2 Pack) quickly followed by the Tri-Cut (Playtex Drop-Ins NaturaLatch Silicone Nipple – Variable Flow Y-Cut – 2 Pack).
Breastfed Baby Likes It
My breastfed baby takes this nipple with no problems. He prefers the latex but he will take this one too.
Great nipple for Playtex Drop Ins bottles
We are still using the slow flow at 4 months while I am working. I still regularly breastfeed the rest of the time. The baby likes the size of these and the flow.
These work great with the drop in system by playtex. I like that I can order them online with amazon prime so it avoids a trip to the store just for 1 small item.
I love using the Playtex Nurser and all of the supplies for the nursers. I used these bottles when I had my sons forty years ago. My boys had less gas and now I am using these for my grandchild. I was upset when I could not find these in stores anywhere. I was greatful when a friend of mind suggested I look on line. That’s where I found them. Why are these not sold in stores anymore? You need to get these back on selves in the stores. It’s easier to go to a store to buy them, then wait for the bottles or supplies to be delivered. I bought $125.00 worth of these bottles with nipples, inserts, tops and bottles, plus the starter kits. Please bring back to stores.Thank you for a great bottle which may I add is the closest thing to a mothers breast. Please again, bring them back to stores.I am a true beliver that this is the greatest bottle ever made.
Used this with both of my children
Great and reliable product. I have used this with both of my kids and wouldn’t use another bottle/nipple product! It is fantastic.
Also works in VentAire bottles.
We use these in the drop-in and VentAire bottles. The faster nipples caused baby to choke. We wash them in the dishwasher and they’ve held up well.
Finding the right Playtex nipples has been like a Goldilocks and the Three Bears experience for me. The latex Playtex slow flow NaturaLatch nipples that we got with our bottles were way too fast. My nearly 3 month old baby chokes because the milk flows so fast. When super hungry he can chug a 4 1/2 oz bottle in 5 minutes with the slow flow latex version. So I tried these silicone NaturaLatch slow flows and they are way too slow. My baby gets frustrated with how slow these nipples flow. It took him up to an hour sometimes to finish a 4 1/2 oz bottle! There needs to be some middle ground. Since these slow flow silicone nipples were too slow, I tried the medium flow version and it was way too fast. Strangely enough I found that the Playtex Orthodontic Latex medium flow is the perfect flow speed, but the shape of the nipple makes it difficult for my baby to get those last drops. Playtex needs to work on improving the nipple flows.
Good nipple for breastfed baby, but Playtex VentAire leaks less
We purchased this extra set of nipples to go with our Playtex Drop-In starter set. They have worked well for transitioning between breastfeeding and bottle feeding during the past year and have not caused the dreaded “nipple confusion.” Having used this nipple in the Playtex Drop-Ins system and the slow flow nipple in the Playtex VentAire bottles, we have discovered that the Drop-Ins slow flow nipple has a faster flow than the VentAire. It is not so fast that it has caused any gagging or spit up issues for our daughter, but it does mean that the Drop-In nipples leak more if she is feeding herself and waves the bottle around (which is inevitable). Although the VentAire slow flow nipples appear to be slower, they do not seem to be too slow to satisfy our daughter’s feeding needs. In summary, these are great nipples that work well for breastfed babies who switch between nursing and bottle feeding, but once baby starts feeding him/herself, they have a tendency to leak more than the Playtex VentAire variety.
Great for my breast fed baby
This nipple was the winner after trying 5 others for my breast fed baby. He has had no nipple confusion, gas, colic, or anything and goes between bottle and breast easily. Love the price too!
Playtex Drop ins are the best
I’ve nothing bad to say about Playtex drop in nipples. I love the drop ins system. When you are exhausted, you want fast and easy. That’s what this system delivers to you.
We got these to go with our supply of drop in liners. This meant that we didn’t have to clean nipples all day long but could use a nipple a couple of times and then put it in the dishwasher.
Playtex System is Fantastic
I have been pumping since my daughter’s second day of life, because at first we had difficulty with her latch. We have been giving her Playtex bottles for expressed breastmilk to supplement her nursing ever since. It has been really nice for my husband and mother (who lives next door) to be able to feed her when I can’t or don’t feel like it. I love that these nipples are wide like the areola of the breast, and they are easy to clean. She never experienced any nipple confusion problems. Overall our experience with the drop-in’s system has been fantastic. So easy to pump, store, and feed.
The flexibility of the nipples seem to allow the baby to mimic a real nipple. They also have the wide base which is similar too.
Fantastic quality and definitely slow-flow for Playtex Drop Ins Bottles.
Seriously slow flow. Baby will have trouble if it gets clogged. Toothpick fixes this quickly.Baby takes 25 minutes to eat 4 oz. of milk. Cleans easily with Baby Simba Lion Bottle Nipple Brushes.
