THIS is non-toxic? Didn’t smell like it to me!
I bought this Prince Lionheart BoosterPOD seat seat for my 26 month-old daughter, who now wants to eat right up at the table like mom and dad instead of from her high chair tray. Her Boon Flair high chair has a removable tray, but the seat is incompatible with tables (like ours) that have a “lip” or skirt around the edge. The BoosterPOD has pretty low sides and a deep seat, so my daughter’s legs could easily fit between the seat and the bottom of my table lip without squeezing. But honestly, that’s the only reason I didn’t give this booster seat 1 star. One of the main reasons I purchased the BoosterPOD is that Prince Lionheart claims that it’s “non-toxic.” Our family tries to avoid synthetic materials and suspicious chemicals whenever possible, especially in items that our daughter eats or sleeps on, so obviously, the manufacturer’s description of this item as non-toxic, BPA-free and phthalate-free was a big draw. However, when I first opened the box and took the BoosterPOD out, I immediately noticed a strong chemical smell, especially coming from the underside of the chair. My daughter was so excited to try out her new booster seat that I let her eat breakfast on it despite my misgivings, but I noticed that she didn’t eat nearly as much as she usually does. I can’t help but wonder if she was as bothered by the chemical smell of the BoosterPOD as I was. In any event, for quite awhile after she got up from her meal, her clothes still had a chemical smell from the BoosterPOD seat. Needless to say, this chair is being returned.Grade: D
I purchased one in pink when my daughter was turning two. I loved it because it seemed to be perfect and exactly what she needed. The seat was soft and comfortable and my daughter could climb in and out of it easily. Initially, it wasn’t hard to clean. I know a lot of people complain about the cracks and crevices around the straps but that was never really an issue for me. I always wiped it down after each use so that may have helped. I put it in the dishwasher once and it cleaned well but faded a little. My daughter is now four and the seat is falling apart. The base is still intact, however, the foam part is falling off and I’m finding little chunks of seat on the floor. It’s very difficult to clean now because if I wipe too hard, chunks fall off. I believe its time is up and it is getting tossed. I wouldn’t recommend this seat because it’s too expensive for the short life span and when it falls apart, it could become a choking hazard.
does the job
This booster seat is exactly what I have been looking for for my daughter. She is 2 and has been using this booster for a couple of months now. Couldn’t be happier with the quality and how it works. The seat is comfortable and safe.
Nice and comfortable
I love this product and it is really nice and comfortable. I used to have a cheaper one at home and this one to go to restaurants (I don’t really like my toddler sitting on that dirty boosters that don’t do a great job and are no comfortable). She used it few times when we went out but she soon realized another way to sit by herself without the booster and she wants to feel free and independent, so anyway. I thought she was going to use it more times, but not really only for 2 or 3 months. Even at home she doesn’t use the cheaper one we have.
Awesome seat, just not for us.
I LOVE this seat. It’s perfect in every way. If my daughter was younger (she’s 2 1/2) and smaller, or our table was higher, then I would have kept this booster. Unfortunately, I had to return it because my daughter had barely any room above her legs and they were rubbing against the table. This isn’t really any fault of the seat, but of our table and chairs. We opted for something that doesn’t have such a large base and it’s worked better for us. But I really wanted this seat to work.
I have to say, it’s a booster seat so I really didn’t think they could differ too much from one another. BUT that being said, this is the best booster I have ever seen/used. The actual seat part is cushy so it is comfortable for my toddler to sit it. Plus it straps to the back and bottom of the chair and has some grippers on the bottom to keep it in place. I am very happy with this purchase!
Great Booster Seat
Our son is 20 months old and we’ve had this for a while. It does get messy and the straps don’t come off but if you regularly clean it with soap and water it is as good as new. I had read some negative reviews about the straps not coming off but as often as we use it I wouldn’t want to throw them in the washer when I can just give them a good scrubbing with soap and water and air dry. I use a toothpick to clean out the crevices and around the seat when needed. We’re really happy with it. It seems very comfortable for our son and makes him feel like a big boy sitting at the table with us during meals and snacks. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a great booster seat.
This seat is sturdy, easily cleaned, and my daughters say it is comfortable. It is very stable on the chairs as well. The only negative is that it doesn’t have any gimack like turtles or princesses to induce instant visual love in kids, being a boring adult color. However it does look nice in my dining space due to that boring color palate.
About a month after we got the booster my little one, about 22 months, refused to sit in this, I guess he wanted to sit at the table like mom and dad. So I can’t vouch for the longevity of the booster. However, I think the booster sit would hold up well to lots of use.It is super easy to clean, much easier than our space-saver high chair (which I really liked). It also boosted our little guy up to our bar-height breakfast bar perfectly and I really liked that fact that it could be secured to the chair (especially since we sit on bar-height stools). The one negative about the chair is it is pretty hard to tighten the belts to secure the booster to the chair. If you’re planning on moving the booster around and you want to secure it to a chair this is something to think about. That being said, the seat does seem somewhat stable on a chair and I probably wouldn’t be too considered with slapping on a regular height chair for a special ocassion…unless you’ve got a real wiggler on your hands.
Good quality and easy to clean
Good quality, good color, easy to clean. The height is almost too close to the edge of my kitchen table since there’s a part that hangs down, so make sure you take measurements, but otherwise it’s great.
Great Transition Booster Seat
We recently bought this seat for our two year old son. We previously were using the top of our Graco high chair as a booster and it was just getting too big. We couldn’t pull him up to the table and ended up having to use the tray all of the time. We decided to put the high chair away and get a smaller booster that we could pull up to the table. On our standard size dining chair, this is the perfect size. It’s small enough that my son can scoot up to the table and put his legs under the table. He is close enough that he is pulled right up to the table and his food (no big gaps for food to fall on the floor). It’s nice to be able to pull him directly up to the table and not have to use a tray. The material itself is a soft, squishy foam (similar to the bebePod by the same brand). It’s soft enough to be comfortable, but firm enough to hold up well. It cleans up very easily. The three point harness is nice and keeps even a two year old securely. The straps that secure the booster to the chair are a bit hard to adjust, but given that you shouldn’t have to adjust these too often, it’s likely not that big of a deal.
I really like this booster seat for my toddler. It straps quite securely to a chair, is easy to clean, is a little soft and rather deep. I am very happy with the purchase.
great booster seat
feels quality and comfortable. I’d recommend this seat to all of my friends, good for both at home and travel.
Great booster, cleaning a small issue
We tried 2 boosters before this one. Best of the bunch so far. Only small issue is with cleaning. Crumbs and food get caught between the bottom plastic (lighter color) and the top padded seat (darker color). Where these two connect there is a small gap and spills and crumbs get caught between. The two sections cannot be taken apart. Overall, recommended.
Perfect for our toddler!
I never imaged I would be so happy with a booster seat purchase, but I love this seat! Our toddler started using it a little before she turned 2 (maybe around 21 months?). It sits her up at the perfect height, the low profile of the seat still allows the chair to fit almost all the way under the table when not in use, it cleans easily, and the color blends in with our dining set (I am not a bright pink/purple/green kind of person, lol). We use the seat mat that is made by Prince Lionheart, too). Love this seat!
I really like how soft the seat is and the height is perfect for our table. It was fairly easy to install. The only thing is cleaning it. The rubbery material makes it kind of hard to scrub food off – seems to stick on there quite easy. Color came as expected.
Our 2nd one
Bought this for our 2 year old, after owning a different color for our daughter for the last couple of years.Pros:- Solid construction- Easy fit to many different chairs- Subtle coloring, many options.Cons:- Cost- Lap belt doesn’t have much expansion. Chubbier legs grow out of it fast 🙂
well, now we have 2
so I guess we like them. The 3yo in one and the 1yo in the other. They work as intended and are pretty easy to clean up.
This booster works great with my table and chairs! My daughter is 3 yrs old and loves her new seat! All the buckles are adjustable. My 2 yr old can actually sit in it as well, but I prefer a high chair for her because she’s pretty messy and needs a tray lol.
I have one for each kid!
These seats are cute, easy to clean and seemingly comfortable. Very easy to adjust to get a tight fit on the chair. Highly recommend!
I really WANT to like it…
…but the cleaning issue is killing it for me!There are lots to like about this seat. It’s sturdy. It straps securely onto the chair. It’s the perfect height for toddlers big and little. It’s low profile enough to stay strapped to the chair but still be able to push the chair under the table. There are also some nice color choices.But….the groove between the upper and lower portion is a major crumb collector and the straps are only washable by a wipe down. Imagine how easy oatmeal and yogurt gets cleaned up! Eck! I’ve read some people stating that they throw the entire seat in their dishwasher…but this won’t fit in my dishwasher. Not to mention that water will collect inside the seat, and I’m afraid that will cause a stinky mold problem.I’ll continue using it, but solely because it cost almost $40 and can’t afford to go purchasing another seat.
Sturdy, easy clean up
The only reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is because crumbs fall into the small space where the seat meets the base and there’s no way to clean them out. Otherwise my almost two year old loves it and it seems comfy. He likes to buckle and unbuckle the belt. It wipes clean easily though I haven’t yet needed to put it in the dishwasher like I’ve read in other reviews.
This seat puts our 2 year old right at the perfect height to eat with us at the table. Fits on our taller Crate & Barrel wooden chairs, which are on the larger side. We use this with the Prince Lionheart Seat Neat, and it all works together perfectly. The lap straps are a little strange because they sit so low. But it keeps her in place (she’s not too wiggly anyway), and I love how easy it is to wipe up even after a really messy meal. Also seems very comfortable.
Great Toddler booster!
We bought this for our 19 month old son who absolutely refuses to sit in his high chair anymore, we love it! Although sometimes he still tries to sit in the “adult” chairs, we put him in his seat and it works great. He loves being at the same height as mommy and daddy, and it allows him to be a part of meal time as a family. I love the straps, as they hold him in just right. Also love the material the chair is made out of, and is super easy to wipe clean; I use the multi-purpose cleanser from the Honest Company (check it out, they have amazing products). Great quality chair I would recommend to any mama! Worth every penny!
I bought this for my 20 month old grandson (that eats here several days a week) who just will not use his high chair anymore. He loved the booster. I actually was tired of waiting for him to finish his dinner because he was so happy sitting in the big boy seat. We have pub height tables so I was worried about the stability but it sits very well and is very secure. It is made of a wonderfully squishy foam that is comfy and easy to clean. The color blends very well with my decor.Very happy with it and am glad I chose this one over the one they offer with no straps. I think that one would be too wobbly on my padded chairs of this height.
Great for toddler practice to eat at the table!
My daughter is 16 months. About a month ago, she seems no longer want to sit at her high chair. We bought this so she can eat with us at the dinning room table. So far she is doing well. She likes to be a big girl and eating regular meal with us. This booster seems comfortable and safe.
Straps are a pain.
Just purchased this for my 19 month old. It sits securely on our chairs and still slides easily under the table. The top “cushion” is easy to clean and is comfortable for my daughter. My only complaint is the straps. The way the adjustment links are threaded make it hard to quickly adjust the straps to the length you need. Once you’ve got it where you want it there isn’t a problem, but just know that this isn’t something you’ll want to be swapping chairs with all the time. It took me nearly 15 minutes of fighting with the adjustment pieces to finally get the straps to the proper length. (And when you’re trying to make a tiny adjustment, say less than half an inch, it’s even more annoying.) I was hoping this would be something I could easily take off of our chairs and travel to Grandma’s or a friend’s house for the evening whenever we needed, but it was so difficult I’ve decided against that. The up-side of this feature is that the straps won’t loosen on the chair when a wiggly toddler is bouncing around instead of eating her dinner. The safety is there, ease of use is not. The fabric the straps are made of is also hard to clean. We’ve had the seat less than a week and they already look disgusting despite the fact they’ve been wiped down with a damp cloth after every meal. I much prefer the rubbery, easy clean straps that our Fisher-Price high chair has, if only for the section that straps the child into the seat. I still think this is a great option for a booster as it meets our needs well. I would purchase this again.Update: Nearly 3 months later I still stand by my initial review. We have had one instance where my daughter pushed her feet against the underside of the table, tipping her entire chair backwards onto the floor. The booster seat didn’t even move on the chair, which is probably what kept her safe in the fall. Those straps might be gross to look at, but they do their job!
This kids booster works great and when it gets dirty, I just wash in large laundry sink and let dry.
Comfortable and cool-looking booster seat
I bought this for my 1 year old, when I decided it was time to retire the Fisher Price Space Saver highchairFisher-Price Space Saver High Chair, Scatterbug. This booster is a lot more cushy, and so much easier to clean. It’s exactly what I wanted: simple, streamlined, comfy, attractive, has straps for safety, and gives a good height boost. It’s a little pricey, but I think it’s a good investment. I’m also a fan of the Prince Lionheart Pod products– also have the PottyPodPrince Lionheart PottyPOD, Greenand the BeBe Pod when my son was younger.Prince Lionheart bebePod with Strap, Mint GreenThe only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is because the straps are a little hard to adjust and clean (which is par for the course, I guess). We eat at a counter height table, and I have this booster on a 24″ seat. I feel that it is very secure, and the was best choice for us.
I was searching for a booster for my 16 month old that had straps. This booster is great. It wipes clean so much easier than my highchair and keeps my 16 month old in place. Travels great and is nice and hidden.
