Favorite newborn diaper cover

This was my favorite diaper cover for my newborn. In the newborn size it was one of the only covers that actually fit without leaks. I love the vertical snaps, it allows you to have one waist size, and adjust one snap in or one out if your little one has thicker/thinner legs. My little one is 5 weeks now, and the newborn size is just barely fitting him. I only rated it 4 stars because the back elastic leaves red marks on my little guy. I wish this elastic was a bit thicker or gentler. Overall great cover, I love it.

Least favorite

My least favorite diaper out of bum genius and thirsties. On smallest setting, left a huge gap around legs. Fit oddly so never really used. Definitely smaller than any of my other diapers. Pretty colors.

Cute, bot not my favorite for my tall skinny child (title changed from original)

This is one of my favorite diaper covers. We use it over a snappied prefold – there are not flaps in the front in back, so if you use inserts, you might not like this one as much as some of the others. I love the double gussets on the legs and the elastic in the front at the top – so far this is the only diaper cover I have found with the elastic at the top front, which helps to prevent wicking up onto pants (our son just transitioned to the next size up prefold, so they are a little bulky in the front right now). I was a little worried that these might have the shorter rise like the Rumparooz pocket diapers do, but they seem comparable to the Thirsties cover that we have, but a little smaller than the Blueberry covers. I think they will fit until our son potty trains (he is a bit on the skinny side, so this may not be true for all babies).UPDATE 9-22-2013:Our son is now 16 months old, and tall and skinny for his age. These are now one of my least favorite diaper covers, right up there with the Thirsties. They work just fine, and we still have not had any leaks, but for some reason they are a pain in the butt to put on – it is something about the fit over a snappied prefold that I cannot quite put my finger on, but in any case, we still much prefer the Blueberry diaper covers. We also like the PlanetWise diaper covers. It is possible our son is in between sizes right now – the 2nd rise setting seems a little tight, but the completely unsnapped rise setting is much too big. These have also stained quite badly in the front from urine ( the inside front is a dull yellow color), whereas none of our Blueberry covers or the Thirsties cover have stained at all.UPDATE 1-1-2014These are still my least favorite along with the Thirsties, for the reasons mentioned above. I just wanted to add that at 19 months and 33″ tall (around 70th percentile height, and around 15th percentile weight), we are on the last rise setting. It is possible this cover will last size-wise until potty training, but it also might not. Also, the yellow staining on the inside front just keeps getting worse – you can’t see it from the outside, so some people might not care, but if you are planning to resell your covers, this will definitely lower the resale value. We do not have staining issues with any of our other covers. I am officially changing my review from 5 stars to 3 stars.

Too tight

While this diaper is the right size, the fabric is needlessly thick and the leg gussets too tight. We prefer Thirsties over these – they have more elastic-y legs and thinner, lighter, more maneuverable fabric.

Good diaper cover, good price.

I have researched cloth diapers to the point where I feel I can get a degree on them. I originally used a lot of thirsties duo covers. However, the little one outgrew them very quickly. When looking for a one size cover, I found Rumparooz to have good reviews as well as a low price. The combination of good reviews and a relatively low price was the reason that I first used this brand of diaper cover. I use the better OsoCozy prefolds inside these as an insert (not tied with a snappy). So far I have been very happy with these covers. They rarely leak – a leak happens only if we have neglected to change the diaper for a very long time or if someone has incorrectly put the diaper on the baby. It has been easy to use by husband as well as grandparents. I am very pleased with the size as well as snug fit and it has worked well for my baby since Month 2 to Month 5 (and growing). I have bought about 4 of these from Amazon in addition to 4 other Thirsties diaper covers, along with about 36 better fit OSOCozy prefolds to last for 3-4 days at a time. At night, I use the bumgenius 4.0 cloth diapers with extra inserts for our growing baby and moderate to heavy wetter. Overall, a good product and seems that the baby will be able to use it for a long time to come.

Not my favorite diaper cover

I am a new mom using cloth diapers for the first time. I bought several covers to go over tri-folds (we fold them and use snappies) because we weren’t sure what would work best. We were told to stay away from velcro (worst advice we received because velcro works better for us) so we went with snaps on most of the covers. What I like:I like the fabric this is made from. It feels thicker than others and is nice and soft to the touch. These have the leg gussets which keep in leaks and these are adjustable as your child grows. What I don’t like:What I don’t like are the enormous amount of snaps. The snaps (2 on each side one on top of the other vertically) makes the cover more secure I suppose but we have not seen a need for that now. For covers with snaps we have preferred ones with them in a straight line horizontally not two vertically like these. In a hurry the last thing I want to do is continue trying to get everything aligned and positioned properly when the baby is crying, hungry, and I am tired in the middle of the night. The first three months caring for a newborn is hard enough. I also have a smaller baby so this can be a real challenge to make sure it is snug and won’t leak. There are two snaps on each side and all need to be fastened for a tight fit. That isn’t a big deal except my son hates the sound of the snaps and it takes longer to fit this properly than those with snaps in a straight line horizontally (or ones with velcro) because of his size. I have tried different ways of not using all four at the waist and it doesn’t work.Even though these are adjustable for a one size fits all (only need to buy one type during the growth of your child), the extra fabric can be awfully uncomfortable to be next to the skin of a smaller baby because of the extra bulk. We have also had a problem with the fit length wise being too long on a smaller baby – 6 to 7 lbs – even with all the snaps compressed to the smallest size. I have found Thirsties to fit better on my small son when I purchased the right weight category.I also had carpal tunnel from pregnancy, with the pain and numbness in my fingers, and the strength of fastening and undoing the snaps was painful for me because of how much force is needed. This isn’t something I thought about when I bought these.Recommendation:The quality is good so I would recommend to anyone who needs a diaper cover that is fully adjustable for a lot of different weights and sizes.

Works Well but Wrong Print

So far this cover has been working well though we haven’t tested it out at night yet, and that’s the true test to any cloth diaper. That being said, it is still rather large on our 6 lb newborn with skinny legs. I can’t wait till he grows into it. The double gussets are nice at keeping in the mess and it does dry really fast.I ordered the Quinn print but received the Preppy print instead. The diaper was even marked Quinn but it is most definitely the Preppy. From other reviews I’ve read, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I contacted the company directly, and they were very helpful. They offered to replace my cover and comp me for the shipping. Instead, we just plan on keeping the cover, and simply ordering more directly through the company. Because of this issue, I would probably not order these from Amazon again.

Nice but not my favorite

Of the four brands of cover I have tried, this one is in last place. I have read a lot of reviews singing the praises of the double row of snaps at the waist of a diaper cover, but I actually find them more difficult to work with than a single row of snaps. The edges of the front of the cover tend to poke up past the wings, which bugs me. The fabric is more supple than the PUL of my other covers (the PUL feels more plasticy) though I do not prefer one over the other. There is a rubber logo tag sewn onto the back of the cover and I have had pee leak through the stitching there when I used the cover overnight. It’s kind of a baggy/bulky cover, but I like that it fits over my bulky Econobum prefolds better than the other brands of gusseted covers I have. No pee leaks other than the tag on the back, and only the occasional poop leak when my son has a big bowel movement. My biggest issue is that one of the rise snaps is weak and won’t stay snapped. I haven’t had that problem with any of my other covers, not even the cheapest ones. I like the solid colors (fabric and edging match) and some of the prints look really cute, but I am going to pass on purchasing more of this brand.

We bought this cover and a thirsties duo cover as well to try out with our newborn, because we didn’t know what style worked better. It was too hard to tell by comparing the reviews. Honestly I do not car for the thirsties cover, but I love the rumparooz. We went out and bought 4 more in different colors. They are perfect, for us at least.

Good quality

Love the black. Love this cover. I have 5 in various colors. The quality is great. The first time I ordered, I also ordered a Best Bottom cover to try out. I like the Best Bottom fine, but prefer this one. I like the double snaps on this one (vs 1 row with the BB). Both brands have 4 snap rise levels–which is nice. I love the gussets on the legs too. The PUL is thick and does not leak easily. The back has just enough elastic to close against the back above the diaper without leaving marks. I also like that it is truly all black without white trim or snaps. When described against a Best Bottom or Thirsties brand, they will all sound very similar. But this is by far my favorite brand of the three. Quality on the Rumparooz and Best Bottom are similar, but I like the feel of the Rump better. The Thirsties feels the thinnest to me and I have had more leaking issues with those. I don’t know how to explain it, but the Thirsties PUL just doesn’t feel as water proof. If you go with this brand, I do recommend paying the $2 for one of the plaid diapers. The colorful snaps make it so easy to insure the diaper is even on both sides. Plus, they are just dang cute. However, I have daughters and like solid dipes because they can act as bloomers under dresses. In all I love this diaper. Of the three cover brands I’ve tried, it is by far my favorite.

Very Cute, Seems Well Made

Much thicker than Thirsties covers…actually fit my newborn and didn’t leak everytime. Now that she is bigger Thirsties are great too.

Great Diaper Cover

I have been cloth diapering for over 6 years now. We just recently switched from pocket diapers to prefolds and covers. These covers are awesome. I love snaps and only use snaps. These covers have double leg gussets, which mean nothing is escaping out the legs. They also have elastic in the front and the back, keeping the top secure on baby and no poop explosions coming out. They do have a tag inside, which tends to get dirty first. These snap down much smaller than other one size diapers we’ve used. They easily fit our 12 lb. 5 week old and they were not even snapped down all the way. They would have easily fit from his birth. (We just have newborn Rumparooz covers that we used prior to sizing up.) They fit easily over our Green Mountain Diaper Medium prefolds.

Holds it in

This diaper will hold anything in. (POOP) I am still trying to figure out if I like the elastic at the waist or not. Very adjustable and fits well over bulky Prefolds.

Love Rumparooz!

Sometimes the snaps can be a bit tough to unlatch, but that is better than them easily popping off! Overall, great cover and the gussets are awesome! My daughter had 2 super messy diapers last night – 1 wearing a Rumparooz cover and one another brand. The Rumparooz kept the situation from being a blowout. Unfortunately, the other brand did not. Time to buy more of these covers!

Diaper cover

My family and I don’t use cloth diapers but we did use this for my son’s 1 year cake smash photo shoot. It was super cute, many different snaps to fit even the smallest baby.

Gloria San Gabriel, CA

No leaks yet!

I love the design/print and so far, after a couple of uses, no leaks or anything yet. It fits my 4 month old (13.6 lb) really well right now… all of the buttons are on the smallest size.

Good Quality, Poor fit.

I LOVE the quality of RaRs products. With that being said, they do not fit either of my children. One is lanky but only wears diapers at night since she is 3. The other is chubby. They are just to tight on chubby/older children. Its tight on the legs and gapes in the waist.

Great diaper covers! Rumparooz and Blueberry make my absolute favorite diaper covers. The PUL is high quality and doesn’t leak. It’s easy to get a nice snug fit on your baby. We use these for overnights (12 hours!) without leaks. The double gussets are a must have!

Okay, but not Great

Okay, but nothing spectacular. To start with sizing this cover is HUGE! I was not expecting to have to use any of the rise adjustment snaps but definitely had to. My baby will be 1 next week and is pretty chunky- about 24 pounds and wears size 18-24 months clothes. Even with the rise adjustment snaps the cover is still baggy in the butt area and I can not adjust it anymore to remove this bagginess. The width is quite large as well these covers go significantly down around babies thighs, which is quite weird. They elastic around the thighs should be somewhere near where the thigh and crotch meet but it isn’t, again generously sized! We had been previously using Charlie Banana one size cloth pocket diapers which fit beautifully so I didn’t think I would have an issue with one size covers at all!We were debating between aplix closure and snaps and I am very glad we went with the snaps. The front top edge of this cover actually turns against babies belly. This would have been a huge issue if we would have ordered the aplix as the velcro would have been irritating his belly and we wouldn’t have been able to use them.We were really hoping this cover would be "it", I ordered 2 and was going to order more but we are going to keep looking. I just don’t think that this cover should be marketed as one size. Again, if is is huge on my 24 pound 1 year old there is no way this would work on a small baby. This cover might be good for older toddlers though, so we will keep it and let him grow a bit into it.I also wish there was some sort of flap to keep prefolds in which is what we are currently using, with a squirmy baby who is constantly moving the prefold in this cover moves around a lot, especially since it is baggy in the back.

Bad fit!

I was very disappointed in this cover. The quality is good, however it did leave read marks on my baby. I have tried to change up the settings on it to make it fit better. The only way it will not leave read marks is if I loosen it up to the point where there are gaps that will allow leaks. I will be purchasing a different brand.

Mandy Taylorsville, IN

Best cover EVER!!

The fabric feels so much more durable than others, the pattern/colors are so vivid, the gussets are wonderful, and the snaps don’t feel like they’ll pull out of the PUL.

Jami Lawton, PA

They do the job!

I use mostly Thirsties covers, however I decided to try out the Rumparooz. I am happy with these just as equally as Thirsties. They hold in wetness and never leak. They fit well and are soft. The colors and prints are cute! Great cover, I can use one all day unless it gets soiled on. Nice addition to my cloth diapering routine!

great, no leaks

works great w no leaks! my 6 week old (avg weight) can still wear it w no problems. i use it over prefolds or best bottoms inserts & it’s great!Update — as a 6 month old (still avg weight) she was still wearing this!

Too much elastic

These are great quality, but all of the elastic in the waist region makes it so hard to fenagle onto the baby. I like the double gusset leg elastic though. It has a really good fit, and can get really small or really big.

Samantha Canton Center, CT

Great cover and No leaks

This is an amazing cover! The ONLY bad thing I can say about this is the price, for me it’s a little too high which is why I only have 1 of this brand. It fits better than any other cover I have. I love that the front has elastic a the top, which is great to prevent leaks that we commonly get in that area. The legs have a double gusset that can hold it all in, especially useful with runny poo. I can sometimes use this cover up to 4 times before washing it, and even then I will rinse in the sink and hang dry. It does seem to take a little while to dry but it is made from high quality material. There are some cheaper alternatives out there but I I would definitely use this brand again and would recommend to anyone.

Aisha Pinedale, WY

Functions Well

At $10 the newborn size is a really great deal. The quality of the material is strong. My only concerns with the Rumparooz were that the gussets leave red marks on baby’s leg as she reaches the last stages of use. I would only recommend using the newborn size for up to 10lbs. I ordered the Peacock Snap, and while the snaps hold together really well I wish I would’ve gone with the hook and loop as it’s easier to put on a fussy newborn at night. Lastly the colors shown are lighter than they appear; the Peacock I ordered was a dark green instead of the teal shown here.

Perfect over Prefolds, Love the Double Gusset Thighs to Contain Leaks!!

This diaper cover along with a Blueberry diaper cover I have are my favorite covers! Before you read the rest of my review I should tell you I use osocozy unbleached prefolds which I adore and would highly recommend. I said this first because prefolds are much bulkier than inserts or liners or fitted diapers and my review is heavily biased as a mom who doesn’t mind a big, fluffy butted baby! If you use something smaller/trimmer than prefolds then I might recommend Bestbottom covers over this one!So as a mom using prefolds I needed a cover that would
• cover
• those prefolds! Here are the covers I have tried:econobumthirstiesbestbottomsblueberryand this rumparooz! The best fit over prefolds that I’ve found is with these Rumparooz and also Blueberry covers. They are fairly similar and honestly I like them about the same. I might favor Rumparooz a bit over Blueberry but mostly I like having both in my stash. The Bestbottom diaper covers are great and I have absolutely no problem with them. They’re just a smidge small to go over prefolds. Not unusably small by any measure but using Rumparooz and Blueberry covers (and even Econobums) is just easier!Beyond the fit and size that I love, these diapers have had zero leaks for me even with huge breastfed-baby blowouts. My son has slept through the night in one of these with one prefold on (no extra liner or doubler!) and not felt wet from the outside at all though his prefold diaper was soaked!I love the double gussets around the thighs. My son’s biggest issue with diapers is leaking blowouts from the thigh openings of diapers and he’s had zero leaks since using these!I also, of course, love the color options! These are
• adorable
• covers!!Basically I really adore these covers and right now plan to use them for the rest of my baby-diapering years! 🙂

Latisha Denver, MO

Not sure why but this cover always seemed to leak.

I found this cover to be leaky. When I started using them, my LO was already over 8 lbs and 22 inches long though so maybe they work better for smaller babies. For a newborn, I’d suggest the Bummis or Thirsties covers instead.

Genevieve Salt Point, NY

Super cute, but too bulky

I really wanted to love the Rumparooz because they have the cutest prints, but they are just to bulky and look uncomfortable over flat diapers. I’m fairly new to cloth diapering so I bought a few different brands, and these are my least favorite. They are the only ones that have elastic in the front, which just digs into my baby’s belly and leaves intents. At first, my only leak issues were with the rumparooz, but now I haven’t had a leak in a while. Not sure what fixed it but it made me dislike these even more. I don’t see a difference with the double leg gussets except extra bulk and deep indents in his legs. I really prefer the econobum and diaper safari, which are much cheaper. I also like blueberry better than this one, but it’s still bulky. I didn’t mean for this to be such a negative review because overall it does get the job done. I still use it, I just use the other ones first because I like them better.
