not very bright, loud, cheap remote
this mirror works as a mirror, but the light is too dim to see is my son and the music is too loud on the lowest setting. the remote is cheap.
Baby looks far away, remote breaks easily, & light not bright enough – very cheap
I love the features on this mirror, but unfortunately they don’t work. I ordered two of these because of all of the great reviews, so I’m really surprised at the low quality of this product. :(1- The mirror makes the baby look too far away, so I can’t even see if his eyes are open or not. It just shows a little pea head really far away! Not too helpful.2- I returned one of these because the remote didn’t work, and when I got the replacement, I accidentally dropped the remote on the floor once, and now it doesn’t work either. Unfortunately the features don’t work without it, either.3- The light is a great idea, but is nowhere near bright enough to light the baby. Unfortunately neither I or my husband are handy enough to replace the bulb with LED lights, like the other reviewer!Unfortunately, I have thrown away all the packaging so I can’t return these products now, but I would not recommend it to anyone else.
Mine was broken on arrival.
On a positive note…Amazon’s return policy made it very easy to return and I go my refund really quickly. 🙂
This works well in our car – we have a 2007 Toyota Rav4 and now that my daughet is 7 mos. old, when she gets in the car, she always looks at herself in the mirror and smiles…the only thing I would change is how long the light stays on for…I think it should be an on/off remote…and the light is really dim…
Peace of mind in the car
As a first time parent the first few weeks of driving with a new baby in the car were nerve wracking when the baby would cry. It’s really nice to be able to glance in this mirror and know that he’s just crying because he hates the car seat and not because he’s in some kind of distress. The light is useful for nighttime driving. It comes on gradually and does not wake up a sleeping baby. The music feature isn’t really necessary as we always have music playing in the car. The music is pleasant, however. My only complaint is that the mirror tends to slide around a little bit and needs to be adjusted after a few car trips. Not a big deal though.
A great choice for a car mirror
Pros:1. It can attach to the car in more than one way.2. The remote can play music or turn on the light (more info in the cons list).3. The quality of the mirror is good and reflects clearly.Cons:1. I wish the light were brighter to see the baby’s reflection at night. Plus, when your rear view mirror is on night mode, the effect of looking through a darkened mirror make the little light pretty much useless. I end up flipping my rear view mirror for a moment and waiting for a street light to take a quick peak.2. The border of the mirror is a bit big and takes up some visibility while driving. It hasn’t impacted me much, but my friend has two mirrors because she has twins and her main comment was that they block her visibility.
Great mirror and nice music
Great mirror, nice music with adjustable volume switch (off/low/high). Very convenient remote control lets me operate it while driving. Minus 1 star because the light is not bright enough for me to see my son at night. At night, with the light turned on, I only see my child’s legs — not his face or shoulders. I guess if the light were brighter, it would be too bright for the child’s eyes? So that’s kind of a useless function, but otherwise great mirror with music.
This is by far one of the best! The mirror is large enough to be visible from just about anywhere. The reflection is a real one, not a carnival mirror reflection. The music is soothing for my daughter, and the fact that there are two volume levels is great. And I love the light! She just sits in her seat and stares at herself. And try popping around the seat and surprising you kiddo when momma or poppa show up in the mirror!
Cool idea, but some downsides
I like the light and music idea, but the music sounds cheap and repeats an short bit of the same music over and over again in a loop. I like the design, it doesn’t stick out in your car. The remote doesn’t operate great…sometimes you have to press the buttons a couple times, but it will eventually work. I like that I can see my baby and that is the most important thing.
Great product and price.
I bought this product at Babies R Us. It caught my attention because the photo of the baby looked like my baby girl. I wasn’t sure if this was a gimmick item that wouldn’t work once I got it home. However, I thought the features on this product would be nice to help calm down my 3 month old who hated being in her car seat and alone in the backseat. It worked. My baby likes to see herself in the mirror and doesn’t feel alone if no one is riding in the the backseat with her. The music is awesome. Its classical music mostly the violin playing. It usually puts her to sleep. The music is on a continuous loop so it doesn’t turn off until you hit the remote to turn it off. I sat in the backseat with the baby once while the music was on and realized the sound is quite loud. However, my baby didn’t seem to mind. There is no volume switch for the music either. The night light is OK. It’s a dim light that only stays on a couple of seconds so you can take a quick peak to see if your child is sleeping or not. It works best when it is really dark out. The remote control is also a nice feature.
This is great, I love that the light allows you to see what’s going on in the dark. Easy to install and easy to adjust. Very happy.
