very tempermental monitor

I seriously want to throw this thing across the room, it is constantly dropping the signal, makes all kinds of crackly noises, and the battery life is an hour TOPS. My house is only 1700 sq. feet! I don’t get all the positive reviews on this PIECE. Spend your $100+ on another monitor; I wish I had!

Does the job, but hopefully there are better monitors out there

I loved this monitor for the first 6 months of my son’s life. Then the1) Battery started dying after 1-2 hrs unplugged…so annoying2) Charger cord is sorta broken and will only charge when placed at a particular angle3) I realized that having pre-set volume settings instead of a rolling one is a huge disadvantage, because the “softest” setting really isn’t soft at all when your baby likes to talk in his sleep…I wish I could put this softer without muting it but I can’t!That’s really it. For us, the picture is great and never any static.

GREAT MONITOR

THE PICTURE AND MICROPHONE ARE SO CLEAR EVEN FROM ACROSS THE ROOM…THE NIGHT VISION IS VERY NICE WITH ADJUSTABLE BRIGHTNESS..I HAVE IT MOUNTED ON THE WALL ABOVE THE CRIB AND IT WORKS PERFECT..I WAS JUST FINE WITH THE REGULAR MONITOR WE HAD…. BUT… MY GIRL HAD TO HAVE VIDEO……SO I WILL ADMIT IT IS VERY NICE TO HAVE..THE BEST PART IS ITS PORTABLE BUT ALSO PLUGS INTO THE WALL TO CHARGE OR LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN NEXT TO THE COUCH…THE BATTERY IS LIKE THE ONE IN A CORDLESS PHONE…SO NO REPLACING BATTERIES…THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO HISS OR STATIC EVEN FROM OUTSIDE IN THE YARD…IM NOT SURE ABOUT THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS BUT IT WORKS PERFECT FOR US…WAY BETTER THAN I HAD EXPECTED

Battery didn’t hold charge well. Poor experience with obtaining replacement monitor

I live in a 3 story home so I was seeking a portable video baby monitor so I could monitor my baby from any room in the house. The unit works well even from the bottom floor to top floor. I love having the night vision feature. The quality of the video is not high quality but it is adequate enough to see what my baby is doing without having to walk to the nursery and I don’t need to turn on the lights. The major cons that I discovered is that the battery does not hold it’s charge and the blue light on the parental unit is much too bright. It’s nice to be able to adjust the volume on the parental unit but the blue light is not adjustable. The blue light is constantly on when the unit is on. I face the monitor away from my bed or place it under a pillow but whenever our son makes noise, I have to squint in the dark to look at the baby monitor since the blue light is much brighter than necessary. The worst part of this monitor is that we encountered problems with it holding it’s charge. After fully charging the unit according to the directions, it still holds it’s charge for only about 5 minutes! I think that’s unacceptable. What’s the point of it being a portable unit if I can only have it with me unplugged for 5 minutes before it needs to be recharged? After tolerating the unit initially, I got tired of not being able to take the baby monitor around the house with me… after all I bought this model because I wanted to be able to monitor my baby from my bedroom at night when he’s in his crib but also from anywhere in my house if I’m doing chores around the house while he’s sleeping upstairs in his crib too.I finally contacted Safety 1st as Amazon.com recommended. I was disappointed with the return procedure. Initially, they told me to destroy the unit by cutting the adapter cables and send proof that it was unusable by mailing Safety 1st the adapter cables and then they would mail me a replacement. I responded back to them saying I was unwilling to do that since that would mean I would be without a working baby monitor while I waited for them to ship out my replacement. You would think a company named “Safety 1st” would be less concerned about the bottomline and more concerned about the baby’s safety. Sure enough, they acknowledged my point and requested my credit card number, saying they would charge me for a brand new unit, mail it to me as a replacement, and later refund my credit card for the cost of the replacement baby monitor once they receive my adapter cables proving that I destroyed the original defective unit (probably so I won’t have 2 “working” baby monitors). My other gripe is that in order to get my replacement unit Safety 1st charged my credit card for $100 more than the price I paid for the original baby monitor I bought from Amazon.com! I am now waiting for them refund my credit card that amount once they receive my adapter cables. I definitely certified that shipment since I’d hate for it to get lost in the mail…if so, I’d be stuck with the defective unit plus the replacement unit which they charged me approximately double what I paid for the original unit.

Worked okay-no battery life at all though

We actually wound up with three of these because the first two broke with totally normal use. The screen is pretty small, although the picture was very good. The handset had absolutely no battery life. Literally you would have to unplug it, it would turn off instantly and then replug across the house and turn it on again. Not a bad camera, just wouldn’t really recommend it.
