Made for very small adults
It’s hard to justify writing a critical review, while trying to judge the experiences of a newborn, for several reasons. They can’t talk to convey their pleasure or displeasure with a specific item of furniture, and they are babies, which are notorious for not wanting to sleep in their crib. All factors considered I really wouldn’t recommend this bed to new parents.I have to agree with the other poster who stated their child just seems uncomfortable using this bed. I would not want to use this bed (if it was adult-sized). The outer lining is a vinyl-plastic type of material; supposedly to help minimize stains. However, it comes at the cost of “breathability”. On several occasions I have picked up my baby from the bed to find him damp, not from an accident, but because his bed lets any sweat/moisture/drool just sit there in between his body and the lining. I really wouldn’t take issue with cleaning up stains (that’s just part of being a parent), and I would certainly consider it a fair trade-off to ensure my baby’s comfort. The propaganda inside the package assures you that the inner springs of the bed are “just like the ones in the adult mattresses”. That’s great, but babies are shaped differently than adults; they have different needs for their unique contours. Specifically, their heads are giant compared to their tiny bodies, and they wear bulging diapers to further complicate matters. Sealy’s solution? Just make the exact same beds we make for adults, but smaller. Besides the small size and the vinyl lining, they’ve made no concessions, alterations, or considerations for the fact that babies are more than just miniaturized adults. This item is constructed no worse than a regular Sealy for adults, but I think it is poor option for a baby. My son loves to sleep in his swing, his carseat, a rocker, on our bed, on the couch, even on me…. but he is unable to sleep on this bed.
Good quality, very cost efficient, and wipes down easily
We’ve had this mattress for 2 1/2 years now for my daughter’s crib and it serves it’s purpose. It is of good quality, very cost efficient, and wipes down easily during cleaning. I would purchase this again.
I’m not sure why so many reviews call this thing too soft. It isn’t. It also isn’t too hard. It is “just right.”My 6 month old loves it. She sleeps better in her crib than she ever did in her bassinet and she has a lot of fun rolling around on it.I trust this brand to last through her toddler years, until she’s ready for the handy-dandy super-fancy twin bed.
Pretty decent mattress
There isn’t too much to say except – this fit my crib perfectly. It’s a very firm mattress which is good for babies. It’s already got a waterproofing outer layer so it should make for easy cleanups. Once my baby transitions from my cosleeper to her crib – this will be used more.
Awesome mattress for the price
This mattress was recommended in the Baby Bargains book and we love it. It fits perfect in our baby bed and for the short time that it is going to be used the price is great.
I was very hesitant to purchase this item based on other reviews stating it was not firm enough. Unfortunately, they were right. My son, who is now 12 1/2 pounds at 4 months, leaves indentations in this mattress and we just started putting him in it (was in a bassinette until now). I am now already looking for a replacement as I am afraid to leave him in it at night. I would not recommend this mattress as it is too soft.
