Great first backpack for a toddler!

I bought the dog backpack for my two year old son. He’s about 35″ tall and it’s still slightly big for him, but at least it will last him a while. It’s absolutely adorable and it’s perfect for short trips. It holds a few diapers, some wipes, a toy and a snack with no problem. One of my favorite features is the cupholder on the side for sippy cups. I was initially a little worried about the material because it is so light in color. I figured it would be filthy in no time, but to my surprise, it wipes clean very easily. I looked at a lot of toddler backpacks before I bought this one and I’m happy with my purchase.

LOVE IT!

I love this cute little back pack. My son is 1 and we use it to carry his daily supplies back and forth to daycare and as a substitute diaper bag. He likes the bright colors and he knows it’s his bag. We get lots of compliments on it where ever we go. It’s the perfect size for a toddler and the straps are adjustable. It’s sturdy and well made, and though it’s on the small side, it holds just the right amount of stuff, (which for us is a lot since I’m an over-packer anyway). The name-tag inside didn’t bleed and run when I wrote my son’s name on it like most fabric tags do. The front pocket is great for the things you need more frequently like kleenux, and small toys, and it has a loop you can hook your keys onto. The side pouch is the perfect fit for a sippy cup. I so glad I got this; I just ordered the matching lunchbox and if I’m half as happy with it as I am with this backpack I’ll be really pleased. Two weeks after I posted this review, and after barely 2 months of use, the zipper for the main compartment broke. I was heartbroken. I searched everywhere for the receipt so I could call for a possible replacement, but no luck. I spent an hour trying to repair it, which to my amazement, I eventually did, but now I feel that it’s fragile and I’m waiting for it to break again. So I wanted to add this warming. Do not over-pack and stretch the zipper, it’s only plastic and will stretch and bend. Keep an eye on the teeth as you can see them separating and that is your warning of impending breakage.I know this is made for little kids, but if I was the maker of this product I think that I would use a metal zipper for the main compartment as they are stronger and can take a lot more abuse than a plastic one.I still love and would recommend this product, I’d just be a little more careful with it.It’s now been 9 months since I repaired the zipper and I haven’t had a single problem with it since then. And, we LOVE the lunch box just as much as the backpack.

Totally adorable, but won’t fit anything for school!

I rarely give low-star ratings. And this backpack is absolutely adorable, so I would give it 5 stars for that if I could. I purchased the mouse for my daughter with the intent of use for kindergarten, but it doesn’t fit anything! I bought it, stupidly assuming that it would at least fit the folder she’s using to carry papers back and forth to/from school. I was completely wrong – it’s just too short. I love how cute this thing is and we even have the matching lunchbox, but it won’t work for any child trying to use it for school. My daughter loves the backpack, so we kept it and she is using it to tote around toys – but it’s disappointing because we bought it for school. So if you’re on the lookout for a nice school-sized backpack, look elsewhere!

Be aware of size

My toddlers preschool asked that the bag should be full size bag to fit extra cloth,Lunch box and diapers. when I saw the dimensions I compared it to to my own adult backpack and felt its a little smaller which will be okay for 2 years old but when I received it I was shocked how small it is. Here is what is written on amazon for the dimensions 12.5 x 11.6 x 7.8 inches, while the one I got measures 11 * 9.5 * 5 inches.with this measures it won’t work for the preschool and I have to look for another backpack. although it still cute and looks nice.I bought it through Target on line and I am glad I did because I will return it to the store.

Our new diaper bag!!

We use this instead of a diaper bag because it’s light enough to carry and my daughter can help with the load. We don’t have all the stuff we had at one time in a diaper bag, but with a change of clothes, snacks, some light toys, a couple of diapers/wipes, and a sippy cup, it’s all we need. I couldn’t be happier, and it will get a lot of use in the future, too, I’m sure. I got the matching set with the luggage and it is really cute and fun (and NOT corporate!! Yay! No Barbie, Elmo, Cars, or Dora for us!!!).

super cute but super small

pros: you won’t find a cuter, sweeter backpack for your little girl. cons: SIZE. do pay attention to the size when you order, especially if you know for certain that you have certain items that you must put in the bag b/c it is accompanying your child to daycare, preschool, etc. i know it sounds ridiculous, how big of a bag could a 2 year old possibly need, but a change of shoes/clothes, sippy cup and lunch bag just do not fit in the backpack. i purchased the matching lunchbox which is adorable as well but it must be buckled to the backpack’s exterior handle if you want to have ANY room left over inside the backpack, but then the backpack became very unwieldy for my 2 year old to wear.

Perfect for preschool

My daughter and every other kid it seems has these backpacks for preschool. I’m just glad she’s the only one with this ladybug pattern in her class. It’s holding up well after about 5 months of usage. Love these bags!

As a diaper bag it holds enough for a simple outting!

I only bought this because I wanted to try a differnt bag (think out of the box) than the gigantic Jeep Weekender bag we have now. Diaper bags are like purses, the bigger they are the more stuff you feel you need to put in it! When I first got this Skip Hop pack I immediately agreed with other reviewers that it was way too small. HOWEVER, once I tried it out and put everything in it we’d need for a simple 2-3 hr outting I found that, SURPRISINGLY, everything fit just fine! Inside, I packed an extra outfit, a changing pad, a ziplock with crunchies, a ziplock with 1 stage 3 jar and 1 baby yogurt and a spoon, links with a toy attached, and a wubbanub. Front pocket easily holds two diapers (maybe up to 4), small pack of wipes and a tube of diaper rash cream. Side pocket holds only a single bottle though, so far thats the only downside. Which is why I say it’s good for a short outting. I haven’t used it yet so I may have to update this review in a bit. I love it right now though! Hope this was helpful!

foxy little bag

i used to use a purse as my diaper bag but with a big purse there is too much room for crap. also, i wanted my daughter to recognize her own back since her dad and I would like to have her be able to bring toys when we go out so whatever she can fit in her bag she can bring. she is only a baby still but i think it is great for her to recognize her bag especially when she starts digging in it for snacks and toys. plus we love that it is a fox because it looks like our pup. and she really loves it. perfect size, but i am thinking there is no insulated pocket… think that was a little fib, the fabric all feels the same to me.

Perfect for a Toddler

My 2 year old son squealed in delight when he saw the “monkey bag” on the table after I opened it. He couldn’t wait to put it on. We have a few plane rides coming up and thought this may be a good way for him to carry a few of his own toys. He woke up the next morning asking for his “monkey bag.”It is a bit small, but I was aware of that from the listed dimensions and the previous reviews, but knew it would be the right size for what I need. However, I wasn’t planning on putting folders in there, just a few toys, snacks and some crayons/coloring book. It’s the perfect size for him. It honestly holds just enough stuff, otherwise he’d probably fall over carrying it! He loves that the zipper pulls are bananas, and loves carrying it around. It really made the first of the flights we’ll be taking easier and helped him to focus on the bag and not running off without me.Right now, we’re saving it for these special trips, to keep it new and fun, but afterwards, I imagine that I’ll have him use this to carry things to and from daycare, and trips to friends houses and the playground. It’s really really cute and the materials seem very durable at the moment. I think it’s a great buy!

And bought two small bags, one for my baby, she is Leo the lion, but a time to buy is sold out. A pity. Another gift to your friends. Her baby is like.

So cute!

My 19 month old daughter loves this backpack. Or as she calls it, her “cackcack.” It is perfectly sized for her (she’s small for her age, 22 lbs) and she can wear it on her back easily. It is small as others have noted, so I expect her to outgrow it by 3 yrs old or so. It has a cool little canvas nametag inside and a big zipper pouch on front. So cute.

Just the right size, great quality and cute

I wanted a bag for my son to carry around his special toys, water bottle and books he takes along when we leave the house. This is just great for that. We’ve even used it for his swimming gear to take to his swim class. Good quality, lovely design and just the perfect size for a toddler.

Hard to keep on

We bought the penguin backpack for our son’s 3rd birthday. He is big for his age, but it still fits him well. Now, at almost four years old, he still likes to wear it.The problem we have is that it sometimes falls off his shoulders. It doesn’t seem very secure. I think a single strap across the chest or waist would make a big difference. We don’t put a lot in the bag itself since a toddler is carrying it around, but I think if we were to weigh it down any more, it would fall off even more often. It is very cute and he gets compliments whenever he wears it. We’re thinking about getting another one for his little sister! We can usually fit plenty in it for his needs- a pad of paper, crayons, a couple of books, and some snacks or small toys. We have used it as an overnight bag when he went camping. We were able to fit his toothbrush, toothpaste, a couple of diapers, pajamas, extra clothes, and his small crocheted blanket.I don’t think it would really work for an actual school environment. It isn’t really made for heavy items like books or a school lunch. When our son reaches school-age, we will buy him a different backpack.

Cutest backpack!

I bought the cat version of this for my cousin’s daughter for her first birthday. She LOVES it! It’s almost as big as she is, but she’ll grow into it. I have the owl for my own daughter, who’s two, and she loves it too. They’re very well made – the stitching and material aren’t cheap fabric or plastic – and look like they’ll stand the test of time of preschoolers. The shoulder straps are padded too, which is nice since little shoulders could be scratched up by unpadded straps.

Own 2 now. My daughter has had the owl for over a year now and just ordered the frog for my son. Had my kids names embroidered on it but it does have a tag for handwriting their name on the inside.

Love the Froggy

I bought this for my two year old to keep his collection of cars in. I was a bit surprised to see how small it is. This is my first and only child so I didn’t know that “Little Kid” back pack meant mini backpack. Im a novice mom so that was a mistake. The pack is really cute though. A bit expensive considering after I ordered it I found a mini back pack that was a fraction of the cost but it wasn’t as cute and didn’t have the front compartment. Despite the surprise I love this back pack and I would recommend this product to others looking for a cute small back pack for a toddler.

Perfect for my 25-month-old.

We bought this for two reasons – 1) her little bag for school was worn out and she needed a new one, 2)airplane trip and needed a place for snacks. I think this bag has plenty of room for a little kid or toddler. We were able to fit a lot in there, but if you make it too heavy, then your really little one won’t be able to carry it. But things like cheerios, a sippy cup, a couple of books and diapers fit in there just fine without it being too heavy for her. I love it. The only thing I would change is to make the drink pocket on the outside more secure. I had to tie it to keep the drink from falling out, but other than that, it is still an adorable little backpack. I love it!

“Diaper bag”

I got this to replace my diaper bag for my 12 month old. It’s perfect- just the right size for his things. And once he gets a little older he can carry it 🙂 we get compliments on it all the time and it seems to be really well made.

Backpack is a great size…

…lunch box is a bit small. My son loves wearing his backpack with all of his things inside. It’s a great size for him and stays on pretty well. He’s taken the backpack on a couple of plane rides, we get a lot of comments and he loves showing it off. Love that he can pretty much carry what he needs for the trip – a few games, some snacks, coloring book, etc.

1st purchase from Trade-Mart: Fake. 2nd: Skip Hop, and great.

We ordered the penguin from Trade-Mart. The review said an adult could wear it, and in the photo it has the Skip-Hop logo. I’m small and it barely fit me. This thing is TINY. Granted, it is for my son and the only thing they send home at his school is a piece of paper every day, so it would have worked. The “cup holder” on the side was way too small to fit anything, and the rivet had already detached from the bag. The nose was also separating (and this is right out of the box–we hadn’t even used it yet). Also, this is NOT the skip hop backpack. It is some fake knock off. Also had a HORRIBLE chemical smell. Going back to wherever it is that it came from. So disappointed. Thank you Amazon for taking it back for free and giving me a full refund. When I bought the item from Skip-Hop directly, and it is as cool as it looked in the picture. Son likes it, doesn’t knock him over, fit me when we took it to the aquarium, and the cup holder actually worked. So the skip hop version is really awesome. Just make sure you are getting the real thing!!!

Skip Hop backpack

I bought this because of all the wonderful reviews all over the web, and I got it in-store. I bought this to carry my daughter diaper needs in at times and in hopes she could carry it herself at one year with her snacks and such inside. I love this little backpack its to adorable & I got the ladybug because we call my daughter ladybug. She’s 8 months and she likes it to she always wants to hold it! I recommend all mommies and toddlers alike have 1.

Great cute backpack

I purchased this backpack for my 20 month old b/c she insists on carrying her sippy around and any toys & her baby doll that she wants to take with us. She wanted a backpack like her big brother but I was afraid of getting one that was too big for her. Love that this one adjusts perfectly to her size (she’s 36 inches tall). Great quality, durable materials, and the owl is just too cute. She loves this backpack, now I just have to get her the other products to go with it. Will be purchasing more for friends and younger siblings in the future.
