Very cute, though not perfect
I really do like this bottle, and that it is BPA free. My chief complaint is the sticker that says "BPA Free" as well as the barcode sticker on the bottom was extremely difficult to get off, and after multiple washings and soakings, I’m having to resort to GooBeGone to remove the residue. Cheap stickers that mar the surface should be banned!I was a little confused at the straw as well, but after some testing I figured out how to assemble it so that there was good suction within the bottle. This item doesn’t really come with instructions beyond "Hand wash recommended" and "Not for hot liquids."I also appreciate the sliding cap that covers and bends the straw so that it doesn’t leak if dropped or stored in a diaper bag. Very nice. I also appreciate that the plastic lost its plastic-y taste quickly. That’s good when you have a kiddo who would much prefer water to plastic-tasting water… like everyone else on the planet.
My son (2 yrs old) has the monkey backpack and lunch box so when I saw the water bottle, I figured we had to complete the collection. It’s a good size bottle for him- not too big or heavy when filled. I like that there are 2 sets of the "insides", in case you lose a piece (the inside part that goes on the end of the straw is really tiny) or if you want to use the bottle a second day. But, I don’t like that there are 3 pieces to the straw. It is dishwasher safe and I haven’t had any problems with that. I will say that the BPA free sticker was so stuck on there, that I had to get goo-gone and it still had residual residue even after going through the dishwasher two times. I read that a few others said their bottles leaked, but we haven’t had that problem. You have to put the outside mouth piece into the lid first and then put the straw into that in order for the whole thing to fit together properly. Otherwise, the bottle will leak because the straw isn’t sealed.
Sticker glue will not come off
I want to like this, but I cannot get off the sticker glue from the “BPA Free” sticker that the company placed on the bottle. It looks gross. I’ve scrubbed it, soaked it, tried peeling it off with my finger nail. What the heck did they put in it. The bottle would be cute, except for that. I have not given it to my son, so I cannot review it further because I have not been able to get the sticker crap off of it.Disappointing.
Can’t get a replacement straw!
I liked this just fine. It didn’t leak much at all, but you can’t get replacement straws!! My kids chewed up the straw and now it’s useless and you can’t get a replacement straw as far as I can find from Amazon or the SkipHop website. Buyer beware.
Super cute but…
I love skip hop. The monkey lunch box, the puppy plate… We have a ton of cute skip hop items. I’m disappointed in this for two reasons: The picture on the water bottle is painted on and scratched off pretty quickly and easily, and the strap handle got icky no matter how hard I tried to keep it clean. If there was a detachable strap for this I’d still recommend it, but with both of those issues, our cute water bottle is looking pretty shabby.,
Nice but leaks
It’s attractive, seems well-made and I like that it came with an extra silicone straw assembly. I purchased it for our 16 month old to drink water from at daycare and her teacher reported the bottle leaked from the top where the silicone straw comes out, as she discovered because our daughter was holding upside down watching drops of water come out. I suppose it woudl be alright for an elementary school-aged child who wouldn’t be so fascinated with dripping water. At the same time, though, there are other cups with silicone straw assemblies that don’t leak so leaking is really inexcusible. I’ll give it 3 stars because maybe mine is defective. I’ll see if I can get it replaced and re-review it if successful.
Normally good, but broke this time.
I love these cups, I do, but this one broke the 2nd day I had it. Granted, my son did throw it, but I wish the plastic was thicker to withstand common toddler throwing. It cracked at the bottom, so water leaked out.
Tubule dangerous for a child! It can bite and swallow e. Comfort ceases to be unnecessary when overtaking danger. No buy!
Got the BPA sticker off! Great cup.
The BPA free sticker comes off with PEANUT BUTTER! Leave it on for half an hour and then wipe off. When you’re done you have an awesome, simple, easy to hold, easy to use, straw cup. Enjoy.
Adorable, but iffy
I got this for my 2 year old daughter. She drank out of it, then threw it on the ground. I was slightly puzzled, gave it to her again, and she did it again. The top part that folds over the straw flew off. I was able to easily snap it back together and so I did that, then tried to get her to drink. I decided to take a sip to see if she’d drink after me.I discovered the problem. The straw comes with this little attachment on the bottom that looks as though it helps get liquid in the corners. What it does, instead, is fold up far enough that you can’t actually drink out of it when it is attached. Once I figured that out and removed it, my daughter stopped being frustrated and drank out of it with no problems. She even requests her monkey cup now.The only other issue I have with this that would make it three stars is that top part. The part that folds the straw down to keep it from leaking. That part? Sucks. It flies off ALL the time.Half of the time I pick this up, I also have to then locate, and pick up the top cap.You might blame the initial ground throws that my daughter did. That might be the cause. But this will still get 3 stars because this is made for children. If you can show me the small child who will never throw or drop a cup, ever, either intentionally or by accident, I will give this another star.Until then, this gets three and I will warn you that it WILL come apart and leak everywhere when it lands on anything other than the fluffy softness of a wagon full of bunny rabbits.
Cute and functional
My 11 month old didn’t really do to well with sippy cups… she would never hold it up to get the water out just sucking on it like it was a straw… I would constantly have to tip it up so she could get the water out and then tons of water would shoot out of her mouth when she would stop drinking. I decided she might prefer a straw cup instead… sure enough that’s what she wanted. This cup is great… easy for her to hold even being 11 months. She’s dropped it several times from her high chair on our wood floor and hasn’t broken yet (knock on wood). All in all I’m very pleased and will order more 😀
great bottle for my toddler
i have been on the search for the right straw cup for my toddler and this is my favorite. it’s not perfect: when he drops it (which he does, because he’s a toddler) the cap to close it often pops off, but it’s easy to put back on. and it does leak a little when he tips it upside down. but it’s definitely not excessively leaky (i’ve seen worse) and the most important thing to me is that it’s easy to clean and put back together. i’m a nut about keeping these things sanitized and some of the cups we’ve had were so hard to get the straw back into place that i gave up on them. this one is super simple and sturdy. i have already ordered a second one.
Daughter loves it!
My daughter loves this cup, though it isnt spill proof. Everytime she uses it there is water everywhere. Maybe we should wait until shes of age to know to not turn the cup upside down.
Very very cute as most Skip Hop items are. But note that it is only leak proof if the lid is down. If your child is like mine and loves to hold things upside down it will spill water if the lid is not closed.
Always there skip hop
Wonderful straw sippy bottle. This a favourite for daycare and travel. Easy to use and clean and it is with wonderful characters whom my LO recognizes.
Lasting over a year
Ok, maybe close to or just about a year so far. It’s quit sturdy even though it’s accidentally dropped from high chair to the hardwood floor a couple of time a week. I’m surprised however, by how dirty the straw can get. Every 2-3 days there would be black gunk at the connecting sites and the hole through the yellow cap. We ONLY use it for water, no milk, no juice, just filtered water and it still gets black slime and gunk. I use the nipple brush from his Dr. Brown’s bottles to clean the straw. Oh, also it does leak a little if your child turns it upside down for fun. I don’t blame it though.
Cute Product but Lid broke
I like the concept and it matched the rest of his Skip Hop Dog collection but the first time my little one used it he dropped it and the lid that covers the straw broke off and chipped. I wasn’t able to reattach it. We still use it but just at home. Can’t be taken out with us because there is nothing to cover the straw and keep it from leaking.
Skip hop bee bottle
This is so cute! Makes drinking more water fun. My little girl loves it! I really like the Velcro strap attached!!
These are the only bottle with straws that I found that not only does my son like to use, but they also don’t leak.
We love this sippy
We love this sippy and we have 4 or 5 of them. It doesn’t really spill, it’s easy for my 2 year old to drink out of, and it holds a lot.
Appearance is very cute, kids love it. Go easy. And matching bag.I love this. Easy to clean.Take it to school
Bought this bottle to coordinate with the ladybug items from Skip Hop. I really like it, except that it’s a pain to clean because the pieces are small and hard to run through the dishwasher. Skip Hop really though ahead on this one, though, as they provide an extra set of parts. The size of these bottles is great, they never leak, and they have a convenient carrying ring (which is removable).
Cute, 2.5 year old daughter loves using it
The straw bottle is a great size and the wrist strap is cute. We haven’t actually used the wrist strap yet, but I wanted to buy a bottle that could be attached to the stroller or my daughter while we’re on the go.My 2.5 year old daughter had no probably opening the bottle cap herself and sipping water from the straw. I’m concerned that the cute monkey on the front will probably wear quickly off the bottle. We only plan to use the bottle for water since these contraptions can be difficult to clean. I appreciate that the bottle came with an extra straw too. After this first week of use, I’m still very happy with the purchase.
Not leak proof if your toddler likes to turn the bottle upside down
I love Skip Hop products, but was disappointed with this bottle- it isn’t totally leak proof. I ordered two bottles, and both have a small hole in the top, close to the straw. I presume this is a vent, but when the top is open liquid leaks out of this small hole. My toddler loves to shake the bottle, and once she discovered that liquid came out of top she thought it was fun to constantly turned the bottle upside down. We still use the bottles, but have to keep a close eye on our daughter while she uses them. On the plus side, the bottles do not leak when the top is closed. I also like that an extra straw is included.
These bottles are great
Very sturdy and they DO NOT SPILL. My 9 month old was able to use these straw cups easily when he was still struggling with a sippy, so we bought several.Like all Skip Hop items, they have the cute characters on them and coordinating colors. But honestly, we just mix and match any lid with any bottle and don’t care that they don’t match. The little extension at the bottom of the straw tends to get lost in the dishwasher, so I’d recommend either handwashing or removing them entirely (they’re not necessary- I think they’re included to get the last little bit out of the bottle?).The bottles come with a spare straw, which is really handy. The little attached lid that folds down over the straw prevents spills and can be opened and closed with one hand. This was the main feature we wanted in a soft straw bottle. We take cups of water everywhere with us for our son, considering we live in the hot south, but we just flip down the lid and strap the bottle to a diaper bag. No spills yet. Very happy with this product.
I am owl obsessed!
I bought this for my two year old grandson, to use when he comes for a visit. I love the color and the owl face, and so does he! It is a quality plastic bottle in every way, and I would highly recommend it! I hope he too, becomes a owl lover like me:)
These are the best straw cups
I have tried a lot of straw cups and bottles and these are one of the best. Easy to clean, easy to drink out of, small enough for most cup holders and bottle pockets. I love love love them. I think we own like 6.
Good sippy cup, can be a little hard to drink from. Doesn’t leak
I saw this in a store to replace a sippy I lost. Here’s the thing, there really is no such thing as the perfect sippy but my requirements are straw operated, lid, doesnt leak (much) and easy washability. I’m super paranoid about mold but came to realize that these plastic cups just need to be replaced every once In a while. With plastic cups I only put water in. Milk just leaves an odor in plastics and molds faster. I turned this upside down with the lid on and shook it and no leaks! The straw is very narrow and coupled with the bottom component, is a little difficult to drink from. Almost valve like. But that’s also probably why it doesn’t leakVelcro strap is super handy and is attached to a removable plastic ring that goes around th neck of the bottleLid is also removable so that you can clean under itPlastic is also thick and durable. It’s a good cup and super cheap!
Not great, but not terrible
It leaks, it’s hard to take apart to clean, the closing mechanism pops off and my kids don’t seem to enjoy drinking from it.
I love the design, it goes perfect with our matching backpack. I am very happy it comes with an extra set of straw, for future replacement. The strap is also very useful 🙂
