my beginner cloth diapering set is looking so good!
I went with the other reviews and just started with the size two, which I think was the right call. They are well made and I can’t wait to use them. The clasp is plastic but doesn’t appear dangerous like other reviewers have mentioned. Gave them a nice stretch…now all we need is the baby! Happy with my purchase!Save the environment and your baby’s bum – go green and cloth diaper!!!
Makes Using Cloth Diapers Much Easier and Convenient
I haven’t actually used the size 2 yet, I’m still on the size 1 but they work great and I imagine that the next size up will too. This says its for toddlers but based on how the size 1 is fitting, I wouldn’t be surprised if my baby outgrows it and needs the size 2 by the time he hits 2 or 3 months or less. I’m guessing if you’re looking at the size 2, its either that you’ve already used the size 1 and are ready to move up in which case you already know it works really well with cloth diapers, or you’ve read as I did that the babies outgrow size 1 really fast and wanted to go ahead and get the size 2 at the same time so you’d have them. That’s what I did. I figure I’ll get to them eventually.
These Snappis work great with my prefold diapers. I’d recommend them over pins any day! They are safe and easy to use.
Could be cheaper.
They are awesome, but very expensive. I would rather use our pins in an emergency then put out the money again for another pack of Snappis simply for the luxury. Very pricey, but at least was very worth spending the cash in order to figure out what the big deal is about them. They are pretty nifty.Still surprises me how many parents wouldn’t even do cloth if it meant going through the torture of using pins.. HA! Go green or go home. (;
Great diaper pin alternative.
I use these to fasten prefolds onto my baby, and they are great! We started with size one and now at 10 months we use size two. They work great to hold diapers on, and never come unfastened. Very happy with these as a diaper pin alternative.
This is such an amazing product for cloth diapering. No more need for safety pins. These do the trick. Very quick and effective.
Yay for no diaper pins!
I was skeptical of these when I first got them. I’d diapered two children years and years ago using pins and I just couldn’t imagine this would work. Happy to be surprised. The mechanism works like the clip for an Ace bandage, using a little grip and resistance. Mind you, I did get ‘bit’ once, but I was rushing and not paying attention. Great invention. Kudos to the individual who came up with this one.
Snappi does its job
The Snappi clips worked well and serve their purpose for cloth diapers. Durable rubber and clips latch onto cloth diaper well.
Really Liked These
We used the baby and toddler snappis with a lot of success. Rarely had them come undone. Only once or twice did the sharp bit ever touch baby’s skin. I did find that they don’t work as well with really active babies. With our daughter we couldn’t use a diaper and snappi alone. We had to put a cover on too in order to keep the diaper on, because she was so active. Almost defeated the purpose, but the snappi did help keep the diaper from shifting inside the cover.
Size 2 Snappis for our 3 month old!
We use these size 2 Snappis for our 3 month old daughter in order to extend the life of the size small GMD prefolds. The prefolds are admittedly getting too small, but with the larger Snappis, we are still able to use them. Snappis of any size are great and I highly recommend them! One thing I want to recommend that I didn’t think of until after I bought the Snappis is that you should buy your size 2 Snappis in a different color than your size 1 Snappis. It is hard to tell them apart by just glancing at them, especially if the size 1’s are stretched out from constant use. Next time, I will buy the size 2’s in the dayglo color so they really stand out!
Great for midnight diaper changes, but hard on the fabric
Pros: I really like how quickly they can be set, as my little men are very squirmy. The one thing that makes them far superior to diaper pins is that (because there is no fear of puncturing the baby) you can make a midnight diaper change in the dark (and for me without my glasses)by just feeling your way through it. That was a huge plus for me.Cons: They are a little hard on the fabric. I find that you have to be very careful with how you set the teeth to prevent tearing the diapers. I had a previous set of diapers that wound up getting destroyed by these in about nine months time(so I bought the OsoCozy – Indian Cotton Pre-folds, which are great diapers and very sturdy, but still need a little TLC with these fasteners). It is very easy to set them too tight. I made it a habit to check the tension every time (buy putting my fingers under the diaper). I have been using these for almost two years, but I still often have to back it off and try again. It is a little hard to tell when they are getting old, so be sure to change them out at some point. I had one that was about 8 months old break and snap my little guy in the belly. It left quite a red mark and a small welt. These cloth diaper fasteners are great overall. I would recommend them over pins for sure. Just be sure to get the right size (1 for infants, 2 for toddlers), take care when applying them, and make sure to swap them out before you think you need to.
Best Cloth Diaper Accessory
Snappi’s are the single best purchase I’ve made as an accessory for cloth diapering. Especially as my daughter has grown and gotten more wiggly, it makes it very easy to first get the diaper on (the Snappi holds it in place), and then wrestle with her to get the cover on – in two separate steps. When she was tiny, the smaller size Snappi helped with keeping bulky diapers on her. It also helps with ensuring that #2 stays contained. Everyone at daycare, her grandparents, and my hubby all have said how easy it makes cloth diapering. We have a diaper service, so we use plain, old-fashioned, tri-fold cloth diapers with Thirsties Duo-Wrap covers. Believe me, if this makes MY husband a believer, than it’s really something!
Excellent alternative to pins
I’ve been using these in place of pins for cloth diapering and love these. They are secure, fit pretty much any baby due to the handy two sizes (and I urge parents to switch up to the bigger size when it is time… you will see such improvement in fit.) If you use cloth diapers of the prefold variety, you must use these. Excellent and efficient.
These do their job well on most diapers. I use them on kissaluvs contours. The only problem I have with them is that they have sharp teeth that can scratch the baby, especially if he is squirmy. After some practice though, they work great depending on what diaper you use them for.
Great for cloth diapering!
These make cloth diapering easy! It holds the prefolds together well so that the diaper doesn’t come out of the shell. Great for infants and helps to keep in all that breastfed poop 🙂 We have been using the big size for our son since he was a month old so unless your baby is teeny tiny I don’t think you would need the size 1.
The Size 1 Snappis just weren’t doing it for a long time, now. I had to fasten them so tight. GMD says Size 1 will get most babies through potty training. My daughter’s wide-waisted and behind, developmentally. She’s nowhere NEAR potty training, so I bought the Size 2 Snappi & it fits her much better.
These are great. Not necessary, but makes it easier for beginners to use prefolds more confidently. They do stretch out over time, and I wish they would make them in more bold colors cause the white one gets dingy over time. I never had an issue with smell or anything like that. overall, I am very pleased!
Makes me wonder why I didn’t cloth diaper sooner
Once you get these babies stretched out and flexible, they’re a breeze!!Do NOT get your finger under those little teeth though! Owie
a little bigger makes a great difference
love my regular snappis, but they’ve gotten a little snug. nice that these are offered. got the larger ones in the mail today, so i’m not writing a long-term-use review, but(!) they seem quite durable & my son has more room, so that’s nice. 🙂
Easy to use
This is a good product. It certainly makes my cloth diapering experience easier. They really hold diapers in place. I look forward to more colors!
These are absolutely awesome! I used the regular ones but as my son grew, they became stretched out. The toddler ones are great because they are a bit stronger and seem to do well with my growing boy! I love snappies and would never use pins again! These work so well and the quality is outstanding!
These beat safety pins any day
What a great inventioni! We use a cloth diaper service and these llittle snappi’s are fantastic! Super easy to use and a really great invention to replace tedius safety pins. My newborn is very squirmy too and these are a "snap" to use!
Glad I found these
I love using Snappis to hold cloth diapers in place. I have never had a diaper come undone, even now that my son is rolling and crawling around. My babysitter has trouble with these, but she is an older lady who isn’t as good with her hands. So they might not be for everyone. But personally, I love them.
I used these on diaper wash days
I used these with plain prefolds on diaper wash days when I would give them all a good once over they did the job!
Great fit for older babies/toddlers!
I used the size one Snappi on my son with prefold diapers and flats until he was around 15 months. Bought a three pack and found them wonderful. The toddler size are proving the same. I’ve used classic diaper pins also, and prefer these since I get one on a squirmy kidlet faster and with better results.
I am new to cloth diapering, and have been really impressed with these. I would be too scared to use pins, so these do the job perfectly. I read a review that said to only buy two – I followed this advice and found it slightly annoying as I have two changing stations, one upstairs and one downstairs. I often ended up not having a Snappi to hand (we are also using some disposables). Life has been much easier since a friend gave me some additional Snappis.
Great size for our 1 year old
I never used the smaller size Snappis so I have nothing to compare these two, but I’m really happy with the size of these. I think we’ll get lots of use out of them as they fit our small 20 lb one year old very well.
Love the Snappi
Snappis are great. We have larger children so the size 2 works better than the one from the getgo. Snappi has great service if you receive a defective one as well.
lasts a long time
this is only the third set of two we have had to buy since changing to prefolds and they really do last for in between 4-6 months. its nice to see a product that lasts right around whats advertised.
A must have!
I’ve been using snappis since I started cloth diapering. They are a must if you are using prefolds. They are easy and durable.
