- Summer Infant Right Height Center Tub
Not as good as it sounds
This tub seems like such a good idea… it will last you through all stages. However, the infant seat is awful!! For starters, the “gripper feet” don’t grip anything and the thing slides all over the place. Not good when you’re dealing a slippery, floppy baby! Second, the thing sits up too far, and the baby slides right down to the bottom, so the little knobby thing that is meant to keep them from sliding out the end is pressing uncomfortably into baby’s perineum. Both my son and daughter (twins) are obviously uncomfortable in the seat. Third, the infant seat is too narrow. One rolling motion and baby might go right off the edge. Finally, the “machine washable pad” takes on a sour smell if you let it air dry. You have to wash it EVERY time you bathe baby or else live with the smell. I wish I had not spent so much money on this tub. I would much rather have one of the sling ones that I know my baby will not slide or roll out of.
great little tub
I was told not to waste my money on a baby bathtub, so I had been bathing him in the full bathtub using one hand to support his head. This is very difficult while leaning over the side of the tub & I do not recommend it. We found this little gem at BRU for $37 & have been using it for about a month. It is soooo much easier with this! Baby is reclined with no chance of slipping under the water. The only change I would make to the tub would be to have a drain hole in the green infant seat so the water wouldn’t pool up. The way it is now the water just sits, so you have to take the material seat out & hang it to dry, then tip the green infant seat over. Not a huge deal, but sometimes I don’t get to it until a few hours later. I haven’t had any issues with mildew or anything though. One last note is that the material seat can get cool while bathing baby so it’s good to keep pouring water over it so baby doesn’t get chilled. All in all I am very happy with this tub and like the fact that it’s elevated and makes it easier to bathe the baby.
Love this bath. The platform is a nice touch as it raises the bath higher. I also used the platform as a bath stool. The pad is soft and comfy for my baby. we both love bath time with this bathUpdate – at 8 months we are still using this bath. we dont use the seat now as the baby is sitting up. we have never had a problem with it. The fact that it is elevated really helps my back.
we have scoured the baby product market for the perfect tub. the fisher price tubs are awful and impractical in size and design. the european tub was great but offered no support for a slippery infant body. this is the best so far — we are keeping it — but i wish it were deeper so our son could be more submerged and less cold.
I love this bath tub!
I have no bath tub in my house so an infant tub that was a bit deeper was necessary to me. I love everything about this bath tub. It is very easy to clean from the sling to the tub itself. If I had one complaint, it would be that if you bath your baby on the floor, it is difficult to lift the tub to empty the water. Other than that my son and I love it. The bottom of the tub isn’t smooth like the rest of it so when you sit your child down, you don’t have to worry about him sliding all over. Great tub.
