NOT AUTHENTIC AMBER.
The necklace I received was NOT authentic amber. There are several ways to determine if you have a real amber necklace. One way is to put fire to the necklace. Real amber will not melt and will smell like pine. Parts of this necklace caught fire, melted or smelled like melted plastic. NOT REAL.
They felt like plastic and had a slight plastic smell. We returned them immediately. We were not going to pay twenty dollars for some plastic beads.
Works as described
We were a little skeptical about this product, but it really works as described. It reduced our babies fussiness. We keep this on him 24/7 even while showering. Love how the beads are individually tied off in case the product breaks, that way you don’t have beads everywhere.
Doesnt seem to do anything
Our baby is fairly content to begin with. At first we thought this may be helping. We removed it for a week and saw no difference. We put it back on for a week and still saw no difference. We repeated this process a couple of times and never noticed any difference in our baby’s fuss.It was worth a try. We found much better results using hylands homeopathic teething tablets.
Possibly works, but certainly doesn’t hurt.
I purchased this necklace after a friend recommended it. She believes that between the necklace and the occasional Hyland’s Teething Tablets, this was all her son has needed to cope with the teething (he is almost 2). My daughter is almost a year and is finally getting her top two teeth.I read many reviews, both at Amazon and at other locations, and felt that there was enough reason to give the necklace a try. Plus, I do believe in the energy that comes from natural stones. I have found it interesting that my daughter lets me put on the necklace without complaint, and the only times I have caught her pulling at it are when she reaches up to pull off her bib and discovers the necklace there. I do remove the necklace at night, and sometimes for naps. I have sometimes wrapped it around her ankle for overnight. I only do this when she sleeps in a sleepsack since she can’t put her foot in her mouth that way. Some people put a sock over the necklace, but since my daughter likes to pull off her socks, I feel safer with the sleepsack as a cover.Pros:Amber beads are knotted between each bead, so if it does break, all the beads won’t fall off.The necklace has two beads that twist together and remain secure. The necklace is becoming and looks nice on both boys and girls.Cons:There was no info sheet in the packaging as to how to care for the necklace (i.e. clean it such as when my daughter gets food on it).The size was too big for my petite daughter (it just fits around my own adult neck), and there was no choice of lengths. I cross the ends 1 or 2 times (like the first step in tying a shoelace) before twisting the beads together. This effectively shortens the length so that there is no way the necklace can reach my daughter’s mouth. Even with this crossing of the ends, I can still get my fingers under the necklace so it can still spin around my daughter’s neck. I feel comfortable with this, but I would not feel comfortable with the necklace without the added crossing of the ends.My daughter has been wearing the necklace almost daily since I got it. Whether or not it is truly helping, I definitely feel it has not hurt. Her top two teeth recently broke through. I have not purchased any tablets yet or felt the need to invest in any pain meds. I appreciate the naturalness of the necklace and would recommend it.
not sure it’s helping
I am leaving it on my daughter because I figure it can’t make her teething any worse, but I’m not convinced it’s doing anything to help either. I feel like I am constantly having to pull it out from under her chin to make sure it’s not pulling on her neck, but at night I have been putting it on her ankle with a sock to keep it in place. I guess time will tell if it is really helping or not, but after two weeks I can’t see a difference yet. I was hoping for more dramatic results like some other reviewers have expressed but have not yet seen that happen.
