adorable all-in-one diaper
This is eactly as it looked in the picture of Amazon – it is adorable and looks like it will work perfectly. Since the baby hasn’t been born yet, it is too soon to tell!
Good and bad
Good: fit my newborn (just over 8 lbs) and was super convenient during those first few weeks! We dry them in the drier and have found that turning them inside out before drying makes a huge difference. Great customer service as well.Bad: VERY LEAKY. After a month or so, our LO started soaking through within 2 hours, even with an extra liner. Also, they say it will last up to 18 lbs, but at less than 15 lbs, they’re starting to get tight on our LO. Granted, we have to use the extra liner every time so that makes it bulkier.Overall, I’m glad we had these the first month but will not be buying size 2 after he grows out of the size 1.
I wanted to love it
I wish I could return it. Instead I’m going to try and sell it on a FaceBook cloth diaper exchange page!
So far so good
This is our first adventure in cloth diapering. After copious amounts of research, we decided to start with this brand. I purchased prefolds, the duo cover, a duo fab fitted, stay dry inserts, the duo AIOs, and the wipes, all from Thirsties. The AIO has been the easiest to use. My husband has no complaints about these versus disposables (and I’m shocked). These wash well, don’t stain, dry in about 1 1/2 cycles in the dryer on medium (not too bad). The snaps hold up well to both my 2 month old and my 2 year old who wears them to bed. I haven’t used them with a liner yet. I do recommend the snaps over the velcro though. The velcro doesn’t hold up well in the wash after only a few weeks, and I’ve been careful with it. Also, one diaper arrived with a damaged snap (still functional but cracked). Thirsties customer service immediately sent out a replacement and postage paid return for the damaged one. Great customer service is a great bonus. Everything arrives in eco friendly packaging and is made in the USA.
Leaks and hard to clean
I bought this diaper and two different brands for comparison. This is my least favorite. The sewn-in insert does not go all the way up the front so it would work ok for a girl but my little boy, even when pointed down, has had this diaper leak all over him. I never leave diapers on for more than two hours, but this diaper doesn’t last that long. It’s best if you turn it inside out when washing it, otherwise you’ll never get the smell out. I am not sure how you are supposed to strip this diaper once a month since you are not supposed to strip the covers. I do not recommend this all-in-one diaper. I suggest buying pocket diapers.
LOVE this diaper!
I purchased this diaper simply because it was a very well-priced all-in-one. Most AIOs are $20 plus. This one was only $15. I love the color. The fit on my 1 year old is great. I have other Thirsties (2 covers, 2 pockets) and love the leg gussets on those. This one does not have the leg gussets. I thought I would like it less because of this, but it works just as great. Also, for an AIO, drying time is relatively quick. I just do one “less dry” cyle in the drier (so it doesn’t dry stiff) and then let it air dry. It helps to turn it inside out since that is the wettest part.Overall a great AIO I highly recommend.
Leaked the first time I put it on my son
This diaper leaked the first time I put it on my son and was more pricey than my other diapers, so I’m giving it 4 stars.
i really love my thirsties all-in-ones! My only complaint is that they do not fit the weight descriptions. My 5 month old 17lb chunky baby has a loooong waist, and we are already in size twos snapped at the middle rise and not a whole lot of room in the waist snaps left.that being said… i LOVE them, and i wish they would fit longer because they really are some of the better affordable all-in-one diapers i have come across. They are so simple to explain to other people how to use (ive found that a ‘hip snap’ is intimidating to most non-cloth diapering care-givers) and still with no leaks. The tunnel design is great an we are able to add a bamboo soaker in there for overnight even…*sigh*i just wish they would fit my baby longer
Great diaper but too small
After months of research, we decided on the Thirsties AIO for our first baby. We bought a full stash of 24 diapers and had them ready when we brought baby home. Baby was almost 9lbs so he fit in them right away on the medium rise and smallest waist snaps however we had to go back to disposables until his belly button fell off bc it kept rubbing and bleeding no matter how we tucked the diaper. While he wore them, they were great. No stuffing, easy to put on, and easy to just dump in the wash, no touching anything gross. Overall great for those first months when you’re too exhausted to be bothered stuffing pockets or folding. We always hanged ours to dry as well, usually by the dehumidifier in the basement and they dried overnight. The reason why I only gave them 3 stars is bc the sizing was so off. The soaker pad always had to be adjusted just so for our little boy not to pee out of them but by two months it wouldn’t fit anymore, he was 13lbs when we finally gave up on the size 1 completely. Although he was a big baby (more tall than chunky) I still expected them to fit until somewhere near the 18lb weight limit. Considering the two weeks it took for his belly button to heal, he wore these for about 6 weeks before outgrowing. That made them basically an expensive set of newborn diapers. I’m hoping to use them for future children so I’m not too upset but I opted for the more generously sized Bumgenius 4.0 next instead of the Thirsties size 2 in case that weight limit was as off as the size 1. I hope this helps someone making their diaper choice, especially if you know you’re having a boy or a larger baby.
This diaper is not waterproof. At all. The pee goes right through it. Not only that but when I wash it it takes several days to dry because the pad is so thick and it’s sewn on. My least favorite kind of diaper that I have tried. Waste of money.
it is ok
I have used and rated all Thirsties products five stars but this one. The sizing and absorbency are good for daytime. My only problem with this product is that other companies have much better versions of all in ones with faster drying features. Bummis all in ones and marvels all in ones dry much faster and absorb just as well if not better due to the design. Their inserts agitate out during washing and drying plus the Bummis have minky inside which also dries faster. Like this aio Marvrls and Bummis aios have space for an extra insert to be added if desire. overall if you are looking for an all in one with features that help it dry faster go with the bummis and marvels. That said , Thirsties have amazing diaper wraps, pocket diapers, and prefolds. Their double leg gusset is awesome. This is their only product without the double leg gusset:(
Too small for my 24 lbs toddler PLUS ammonia smell.
I had high hopes for this thirsties dipe since I LOVE the gussets on my thirsties covers, boy was I wrong. I have 2 children in diapers, a 4 month old and a two year old. My two year old is actually skinny and this barely fits!! The weight limit is 35lbs and she is 24 lbs. Are they factoring in the urine and poo weight perhaps?? I also wash my diapers every other day and while everything got clean, guess what came out smelling like ammonia?? My thirsts microfiber inserts and this diaper of-course since it is all polyester. Yuck! On a lighter note, it does absorb urine very well, but NOT waterproof enough for night time and heavy wetters. This is going back in the diaper pail along with all of my thirsties microfiber inserts to be washed again. I’m glad I only bought one! phew!
So soft, cute, and easy!
I purchased several of these diapers in various colors. My baby is at the low end of the weight range for size 2 (18 lbs). The inside of the diaper feels like the inside of a new sweatshirt-so soft! The patterns are very cute, and the solid colors are ok (don’t likethe pink-too neon by itself). I bought velcro, and they hold up nicely in my front-loading washer. I hang them to dry in the sun, and the stains are out in no time. Haven’t had a blowout in them yet, and there is a pocket for a night time doubler. They are quite large, so I am hoping they will make it to potty training for my big girl (she is only 6 months, but at 95th percentile for height/weight).
I like, but stained on 1st poo & won’t come out!
Pros: Love the pattern and the insert part is super soft. I really like that the insert is slim but still soaks well. Very affordable also.Cons: as I stated in the title – first time baby poo-ed in it (like the 2nd time he wore it) I followed my same CD cleaning regimen, except this stain will NOT come out! It is fading somewhat after one bleach wash and several washes and sunning a couple of times, but it’s still there. Stained only on the inside, so PUL is not affected, but ya know, stains are no fun! Also, the sizing is a little weird. My LO is in the 33rd % , so not a big fella, but the snaps sizing on the waist seems to be somewhat slim. Right now he’s about 21 pounds, so he’s wearing a size 2, and he’s almost on the last snaps at the waist! All in all, I may buy more. Maybe. But as of now, my favorite for fit and ease of use and price, is Tiny Tush.
No leaks, but takes too long to DRY
WASHING/DRYING:Despite the instructions, I throw this in the dryer on high heat with the rest of my clothes for 70 mins. IT’S STILL WET. Then I throw it in the dryer on low heat for 30 min with the other Thirsties DuoWrap covers I have. IT’S STILL WET. I even turn it inside out for all this drying. Then I put it by itself either hanging dry overnight or back in the dryer for 20 min and then it’s finally dry. Then I don’t want to use it again because I’ll have to wash and dry it again! I can’t imagine having a dozen of these to wash every day and spend that much on drying time. I will stick to the Thirsties covers, prefolds (folded in three laid in cover), and a piece of fleece (cut by me); they dry so much quicker because you can separate them.LEAKING:It works well, we’ve had no leaks so far, and it’s very soft and cute.SIZING:My boy is 22 pounds (12 mo old) and is in size 2 Thirsties DuoWrap covers – he has one extra snap to go on each side of the waist, and a set of snaps to go on the middle, too. This All-in-one wrap is smaller – it has less snaps in the waist area, and so he is on the last set of snaps, so I’m not sure how it will hold up as he gets bigger. The sizing in the crotch seems similar.OVERALLIf they didn’t take so long to dry, I would probably buy a fleet of these.
I really like this diaper. I have been unsure about it before… it isn’t the most absorbent diaper by itself, and I feel like it is lacking absorbency in the front especially for a little boy. However, it is super trim fitting & a good diaper if you don’t use it as an overnight or leave it on for hours and hours. I like to fold a doubler in half and tuck it in the front of the diaper, and then I feel it is pretty good to go. Also did I mention it is REALLY cute because it is so trim fitting. 🙂
takes forver to dry
i love the thrrsties pocket diaper but the aio inevitbbly end up at th botoom of the stash due to the fact that it takes FOREVER to dry even in th dryer.it always requires second solo trip through the dryer or time on the line. we live in th midwest where humiiity is an issue and this diaper does not dry well. stick to the pocket style!
Should have listened to reviews
I LOVE thirsties covers so when I saw they had an AIO I really wanted to try it out despite some of the reviews. I ordered 2 and much to my disappointment the reviewers were correct. I used these on my 1 year old daughter and they leaked…maybe they would work better on a smaller baby because they do not have bladders that are as big as a 1 year old. I definitely will not be able to use these out in public as I will have to change my daughters entire outfit everytime she goes to the bathroom. I only will be able to use these at home when she is toddling around in just a diaper and I can check her frequently. I cant believe how wet the cover got–its like there is no water proof coating inside the cover of the diaper. Really disappointed as I really wanted to love these diapers.Alot of people were complaining about the drying time as well–not a big issue for me–my dryer managed to dry them almost completely and the little bit of dampness that remained would dry overnight if I’d leave it lay out on top of the dryer. .
Sizes run a tad bit small.
Such a cute cloth diaper from a well respected brand. The color is rich and the inside fabric is very soft. I will admit that the diaper is on the small side. I find it hard to believe that this will fit an 18 pound baby. I will state that the diaper does a great job. No leaks and very trim!
Love Thirsties Duo wrap, so i was anxious to try the AIO. Its a great diaper, but sizing was a little small. Purchased for my hefty14lb son, wore it snuggly for awhile. Now at 16lbs, its much too small. May fit better on smaller, taller babies. Will definitely try the Size 2 though.
They’re easy to use and easy to clean. I love them and will be re-using them for my future kids. 🙂
Awful in sizing
How this can fit a child past 30lbs is beyond me. My DS was 20lbs when I purchased this and I knew immediately that this would not for him past 30lbs. He is tall but slim. At 18mths, being 25lbs and 32in, this aio was already unsnapped in the front and on the very last buttons for the hip snaps. Now at 20mths and 28lbs it is unusable. An almost complete waste of money. It’s only saving graces were it’s built in liner and the ability to insert another liner underneath the built in.For those having issues drying it here’s what I did. I would dry half cycle then turn the diaper inside out and finish the rest of the cycle. This is when is also take out my covers and fuzzibuns laundry bag(which is amazing!!).
I love that this diaper is an AIO and a pocket that will self aggitate.I love how squishy it is!The part that touches the baby’s skin is super soft. It’s pretty absorbent. It gets the job done.I’m scared of poop in this diaper, I just don’t feel like it will be able to contain poop. Especially EBF poo. We’ll just have to wait and see on this one. This diaper has amazing features. I love everything about it except for the fit. We are on the smallest rise and almost the smallest waist size and it just fits funny up front. It’s tough to explain, I think I will have to post a picture, but I feel like if my little guy poops while sitting it will squish out the front of the leg openings. I don’t know that this is what will happen, but I feel like it will.It seems like the fit issue might be resolved when it’s time to go up on the rise, but I just.I don’t like putting this diaper on my son, it just fits soooo awkward and I wish that wasn’t the case because I love all of the features of this diaper and the fact the it’s USA made.I will update my review when and if my son grows into it better.
I got the size two because my daughter is on the chunky side. Even though she only weighs 17 lbs the size two works great. No leaks either!
Favorite AIO Diaper!
I love Thirsties all in one diapers because they aren’t bulky like other all in one’s and they never leak! These are perfect if you love fluffy butts but not too fluffy that your little one doesn’t fit in their usual size clothes! 🙂
Great concept but is the equivalent of a size one in other pockets/aio dipes. Unless your kid is super skinny, this is probably not for you.
so so so so so so cute!!!!
AND reliable! I love Thirsties, and i’m so excited to see them on Amazon!! The print is cute, this does the job with no leaks… very happy with my purchase!
Long to dry, small tunnel, too small for 30 lb toddler with added inserts
These diapers take longer to dry than my hemp inserts! (They may feel dry on the outside but when you put your hand in the tunnel they are still wet inside) Also the tunnel to add inserts is on the small size… really have to squeeze them in there. Also the pad in the front doesn’t come up very far, wish it was higher in the diaper. Also too small for my 30 lb. two and a half year old girl, but fits my 15 month old well. I still have to add a small insert though.
Great AIO diaper!
I usually use pocket diapers, but I ordered one of these on accident, gave it a try and think it works well!I like that I don’t have to stuff the pocket, and my toddler stays super dry when he’s wearing this diaper. I also like that this diaper fits very well, never a red mark.I will order more in the future!!
Love these diapers!
The thirsties aio are fabulous diapers in my opinion. These diapers work great they are supper soft, after about 5 washes they never leak. I hang them inside out to dry, I never put them in the dryer not even on low heat. I also don’t wash my diapers in hot water I use chlorine free bleach with good quality soap, did you know hot water makes bleach inactive? It’s true. @ night I add the thirsties brand cotton velour inserts & they keep my boy dry all night, without the insert they don’t leak but he doesnt stay as dry. Even with the insert they are not near as bulky as the thirsties brand duo wrap with a pre-fold, that was just a ridiculous amount of material around his little crotch area! I love the fit of the aio my son is 19lb. He is wearing the size 2 snapped all the way down & with two snaps showing in front (there is one snap left to make the waist tighter). The thirsties brand aio are 100% of our diaper stash & I’m very please with them.
