didnt know it needed a cover
This is a very bulky diaper i have yet to fit a cover over it, lol idk how people get the cover to fit when i bought this item i did not know i would need a wrap cover i have 2 size one wraps i bought this fuzzy diaper in size 2 tried using one of my pocket diapers fully extended to wrap this diaper and it didnt fit over it
nice and soft but leaks
ive tried this several different ways and it leaks. ive used every kind of insert I have and it just soaks right through the outer layer. only way it works is with a diaper cover over it! SUPER BULKY
We cloth diaper our daughter primarily with prefolds and Thirsties Duo Wrap coversThirsties Duo Wrap Snap, Meadow, Size One (6-18 lbs). However, we also purchased several of the Duo Fab Fitted for nighttime because they are much more absorbent. However, we have found them to be much to difficult to use and have decided to use disposables at night. You have to cover these diapers with a wrap in order for them to be waterproof, and honestly, it’s just easier to double up on prefolds or include an additional insert in the Duo Wrap instead of covering one of the Duo Fab Fitted. We found them to be way to bulky and just an extra hassle. I’d skip these if you intend to cloth diaper and stick with prefolds, inserts, and wraps.
So soft and absorbant!
Love these Thirsties diapers! they do exactly what they’re supposed to and i’m very happy with them. these are filler in words so i can submit the review :0 🙂
Leaks no matter what!
I have washed this several times and it leaks almost instantly!!! Doesnt even hold one little pee! So so sad. I wanted to like this a lot too. Also it is on the bulky side.
One of my favs
I like this diaper. My son is almost 9 months old and always has been in the 70-80th percentile for heaight and 80-90th for weight. It is very absorbant. I like that you can slide a doubler or liner under the built in fleecy liner b/c it stays in place better. I use a thirsties duo cover and hemp liner bc he is a heavy wetter and this combo works well. The only problems I have are that the size two is already getting small on him and that it seems to get wet all over without the extra liner. All in all, I like this diaper though. I will probably be buying more as I save up money for them.
Super soft feel, but not the best fitted
I was very anxious to try this fitted, since I love the Thirsties covers. Typically, I use a Kissaluvs fitted in the covers or even a prefold. I must say that this Thirsties Fitted is not super absorbant. I LOVE the minky feel of this diap, but it only holds 1-2 pees. Luckily, Thirsties covers are leak proof, but I don’t like the wetness/moisture on baby. I prefer snaps to aplix because I find them to be more durable and easier to launder. This diaper is super easy to launder. My baby weighs 11# and it seems like he is going to outgrow the medium size setting any minute, so I would be very surprised if this diaper truly lasts to 18 lbs. I think the price of this fitted is too high, so I probably wouldn’t purchase more. That being said, I am satisfied enough with this purchase.
Love this diaper
I’m only a little embarrassed to be writing a review titled ‘love this diaper.’I recently purchased several different cloth diaper options to decide which ones I would use to size-up my 3 month old who is too big for the littlest diapers that we still have. In addition to this diaper, I bought a Thirsties Duo Wrap Snap cover, a Thirsties Duo diaper, a couple wool pants, some Osocozy prefolds a BumGenius 4.0 and a Fuzzibunz One size. We had used Fuzzibunz perfect size small, Thirsties fitteds and covers and Kissaluvs size 0 for the newborn to first couple months stage. I ultimately decided on the Thirsties Fab Fitteds and the BumGenius as well as some prefolds to keep cost down. These diapers, right out of the package, are super soft. They have nice soft elastic in the back and an extra snap in front for overlapping (for the tiniest little babes) at the waist as well as an adjustable rise. What I didn’t quite understand before purchasing, was that these diapers have a pocket (in addition to the cotton/micro fleece pad that’s sewn in) with an opening in the front and the back. This allows you to put a doubler in there for night time/ heavy wetters. My 3 month old little guy (about 12.5 lbs and 24.5 inches–long and lean) wears these on the highest rise and the tightest waist setting (without using the overlapping snap). We have already seen some seriously heinous overnight diapers with these and yet, no leaks. As another reviewer stated, it’s not even wet all the way through in the morning! This diaper, paired with the Thirsties Duo cover is a great little system. It’s a little on the pricey side, though, so hopefully the two sizes will take us to potty training.I do think, as some others have stated that these may run a bit small. I don’t see them taking my little guy all the way to 18 lbs on the size 1. He generally grows out of the rise before the waist. I like them so well, though, that I’ll size up early if need be.As a side note, everything I’ve ever purchased from Thirsties comes in a compostable package and is made in the USA. I consider these to be great added benefits!UPDATE 9/20/2011My son is now 16 lbs and is just about totally out of the size 1. We bought a few size 2 a few weeks ago so that we could use them at night–at 15 lbs I could no longer add a doubler and still get the waist on the size 1 to fit snugly. The size 2 are quite large but we immediately started him at the middle rise setting rather than the lowest. We now use the size two with a Thirsties hemp insert and a size 2 Thirsties cover for nights. We rarely have a leak–that usually only happens if I don’t have a clean Thirsties cover and have to use one of our back-up Flips covers. He now completely soaks through the diaper and yet no leaks! I still really like this diaper but I don’t see it lasting us through potty training. We only have enough of these to use at night because they’re so pricey. We still mostly use BumGenius and prefolds during the day.
Love this velvety soft diaper, but it fits smaller than promised
I love using these diapers. They are velvety soft, fluffy, and practically leak proof (at least for us). My only complaint is that they seem really small. Thirsties claims they they will fit a 40# baby. My son is now 20# and we are snugly on the second to last snap (stuffed with a Thirsties hemp insert for overnight). I wish this diaper was larger because I love using it and would purchase more if I had the confidence that it would last longer. This is a great product, but likely won’t last as long as promised.
Easy to use cloth diaper
These are great diapers. I have 4 of them that I have been using for over 3 months so far. I use them as an "out-of-the-house" diaper because of the elastic legs that completely prevent leakage. I also leave them for whenever we have a babysitter, since they are the most straight forward and easy to use cloth diaper that we have. Although I’m sure an all-in-one would be easiest, if that’s what you’re going for. I think these are second easiest, behind AIOs, since you do have to cover them. I think any cover would work just fine, I use a Thirsties cover or a Flip cover. There are two negative issues that I have:1. My son is just shy of 16 lbs and they are starting to not fit so well. They would probably fit up to the specified 18 lbs if I only snap one of the snaps on each side of the top closure, but then there is a loose plastic snap inside the diaper that I feel would poke him and be uncomfortable.2. If you let it get completely soaked, it is snug fitting all around him that I feel like it is just so much gross wetness all over him and it must be uncomfortable. So I just change is as soon as I notice its wet. At first, I thought these would be a good night diaper, but I really can’t stand the thought of him having wetness so snug on him all night.
my favorite fitted diaper!
I have switched mostly to pocket diapers now, but this is a great fitted diaper and of the ones I’ve tried it is my favorite. They’re soft and in great colors. The fit has been good for us too– my daughter has chucky thighs and with some diapers it is hard to get a good fit in both the legs and the tummy, but we haven’t problems with this one.I especially love the pocket that they provide to stuff in extra absorbancy. Our daughter is a heavy wetter so we use this all the time. To stuff these I use the thirsties hemp/cotton doublers.I also purchased the Thirsties duo wrap snap covers to go with these. Some people swear by them, but they did not work for us at all– I have actually sold mine! I found that they leaked a lot and we had a hard time getting them to cover the whole diaper. The prorap covers are cheaper and go much better over these diapers. We have three of these and I’m sad she’s grown out of them! We will definitely use them with our next baby.
Paired with the Thirsties wrap, these are the best nighttime solution I have found. I was using Bumgenius AIO Freetime diaper at night, but as baby got bigger it wasn’t absorbent enough. These are much better and he seems very comfortable. They are nice and soft 🙂 I am going to buy more to finish off my stash!
Not a yellow color
We use Thirsties diapers all the time and love them! The only thing I dislike about this one is that the color is not really yellow. It’s more of a very light green. We use Thirsties fitteds for nighttime because they really do hold a lot of liquid. I also like that you can add more absorbency if you need it.
Leakproof nighttime solution but has its problems.
This seems to be the only diapering option we have come across that is guaranteed to be leakproof for our heavy wetter.Things we love:1) Has fit our very large son from the time he was 4 months old, to the current time of 17 months. Easily adjustable.2) Love that there is a little "pocket" where you can stuff a small insert just in case. We put a small microfiber insert in there at night just to add a slight bit more absorbency for our heavy wetter. I dont think we really *need* to, but I would rather be overcautious, than wake up with a wet bed and baby.3) Is bulky, but honestly not nearly as bulky as some of the other options we have tried and they didn’t come close to being this absorbent.Things we dont love:1) the snaps seem to come undone pretty easily on the rise. (snapping it down to make it fit smaller babies, not the waist snaps) We put this on and have it snapped down one level for our guy so that the cover will go over the whole thing and there wont be any leakage at the waist onto his pajama pants, but inevitably it will be unsnapped by the next morning and the waistband of his pj’s will be wet. ick.2) This takes FOREVER to dry. I understand thats the problem with having a super absorbent fitted, but seriously. wow. At least two rounds on medium high heat to get this dried, or on the line ALL DAY long. Oy.3) Can be difficult to get completely clean. It is SO absorbent that its hard to get it to let go of all that pee in the wash. No matter how much detergent I use, how many times I rinse, or how much I agitate it, it almost always has a very very faint ammonia smell. I just cant get it completely clean!Overall, I’m glad I have this diaper in my rotation, but I wouldn’t want to make this my only option as far as diapering goes. We use this only once or twice a week and I love that I can put this on my guy when I know he has had more milk before bed than usual (because it will always contain the pee), but I will be leaving it at one. Wont be buying any more.
Great for overnight
This fitted was our overnight choice with a thirsties cover. We really liked the ease of the fitteds over the prefolds.
Great for overnight!
We bought these specifically to use overnight. My son was leaking through a Bumgenius with two inserts so we thought this would be a good alternative. The entire diaper acts as a soaker, and there is even a slot under the main soaker for another insert. Last night we put my son down in a thirsties fitted with a hemp insert and wrapped it all up with the thirsties duo wrap. He woke up totally dry. In fact the was no moisture anywhere other than the crotch area – meaning it absorbed so well in the crotch area, fluid didn’t even have to be absorbed on the sides of the diaper. And this is with one middle of the night feeding where he ate 6 ounces. We may even be able to put him down tonight without the hemp insert. These are extremely soft. My only complaint is they took a bit to dry. But that’s not too surprising considering how absorbent they are.
I love these fitted diapers. They’re extremely absorbent; I measured it at over 2 cups of water, but, of course, YMMV. They fit my son well, with no red marks AND no leaks, and are absolutely adorable. I’d love to kit out my whole stash with these, but they’re just a little more expensive than I can justify. 🙂 Still, they’re definitely worth the money; I won’t dock the review for my budget! It’s good to note, if you’re new to cloth, that you WILL need a waterproof cover with these (Thirsties Duo Snap Wrap is my preference!) to have a leak-proof diaper system! 🙂
Thirsties seems to make really good quality products. Bought 2 of these fitted diapers and have been using them on my daughter for over a year now. They are still very soft, very absorbent. Like that I can add in a prefold or other doubler. Work great with the Thirsties Duo Wrap Snap covers.
The perfect nighttime diaper!
I have been using these diapers since my daughter was born for specifically at night time. I stuff them with a Thirsties hemp insert or a Babykicks hemp insert, cover it over with a Flip cover and they are virtually leak proof. My daughter can sleep all night with no leaks 99% of the time. These would be bulky for day time wear, though. I love that the pocket where the insert goes is open on both sides, it makes it a lot easier to stuff. I was also able to resell my size 1 diapers for about half of what I paid for them new. I bet these will have an even higher resale value because they are snaps, the ones I sold were Aplix. I highly recommend these!
My go to fitted diaper!
I started off wanting to exclusively use one type of cloth diaper (gDiapers) but quickly found out that, since babies come in all different shapes and sizes, not all cloth diaper solutions work for every baby in every situation. These diapers say they are for babies from about 6lbs to 18lbs and I would say that is probably perfect although we are only about 13lbs so I can’t speak to the top end. There is a wonderful pass-through pocket for soakers and doublers which is great, although the included microfiber "wet-zone" is so thick and absorbent I have actually used this diaper during the day without any soakers and my children are SUPER HEAVY WETTERS which is what drew me to try this diaper in the first place.I started using these with my twin girls when I was looking for an overnight solution that would allow me to go 4 hours between diaper changes without leaks. They were about 7-8 lbs at this time and very tall and skinny. This snugged right up without leaving any marks and we haven’t had any leaks at all.The snaps are very simple and hold strong! No infant is escaping them. Initially I was worried that they would cause me to rip the out layer of the diaper because they held so strongly, but I’ve used them daily now for 2 months and they have held up wonderfully! We have used these with Econobum covers, Rumparooz and Thirsties size 1 covers as well and they make a great system. For those having problems with absorbency, the problem is likely in cloth diapering basics: you must prep (wash) the diaper and insert about 6 times before use. Wash with twice the water and half the detergent and pre and post rinse. And remember this is a FITTED diaper and MUST be used with a COVER (plastic or wool) at all times!Bottom Line: Super soft and super convenient, GREAT overnight, heavy-wetter diaper that will fit through a variety of sizesPros: very soft, great absorbency as-is but has room for an extra doubler/soaker as wellCons: I don’t actually have any complaints about this diaper
great for overnight
I paired this with the duo cover and added an extra hemp insert and it kept my baby dry for 11 hours. It was a bit bulky when I added the extra insert. I bought the size two for my 24 lb 8 month old and it fit well. I only hope she doesn’t grow out of it too soon. In had them snapped at almost the last setting.
So easy and great for day…
This is my first time with cloth diapers, and with a baby for that matter. But I love how convenient this diaper is, so easy to put on and no hassle trying to match inserts. It dries relatively quickly and has done well with daytime use. Most of all it is not bulky and doesn’t seem to hinder my little one’s mobility (which is just flipping over right now).I also highly doubt this will make it to 18lb but I will certainly be moving to size 2 when needed. My little one is a big wetter at nighttime so I am not confident enough to use this during the night.
