A godsend for picky breastfed babies!
Heres a little background. My baby is exclusively breastfed, 12 weeks old, most of the time using a shield (dont know if that matters). She HATES bottles and refuses every nipple i’ve tried. If (god forbid) I have to leave her with someone else for a few hours, I’ll get a call with her screaming bloody murder in the background because she’s starving but won’t take a bottle, and eventually she’ll scream herself to sleep or will stop when I get there with the “real-thing”.I just got these bottles last night because I HAVE to have a sitter tomorrow and I don’t want to tramatize her with my inconsolable baby. I like that these are for sensitive tummys since she does have colicky moments, and I don’t mind extra parts. So I warmed some pumped milk, filled the bottle, prayed a little and gave it to her. FIVE SECONDS LATER she was eating perfecly fine!!!! I literally dropped to my knees and thanked God. I was shocked but actually works! The nipple is not too long that it chokes her, like many do. Its also VERY soft and moldable unlike some hard nipples on the market. Additionally, sometimes she would choke on other bottles because it flows too fast. This one she had no trouble with the flow speed whatsoever. It is rounded around the nipple like a breast and it truely IS as “Close to Nature” as possible. If I could give this 10 stars I would. Its worth every penny. If you have a baby that won’t take a bottle TRY THIS its truely a life-saver!
nice bottle but with a fault
I was very excited to get this bottle and my baby took it right away only for me to find out that it has the same problem that was already written about by another reviewer. there is no slit/whole in the vent inside the bottle. I did use a pen knife and cut it but not sure if i want to keep doing that as both bottles i got have that problem. I am using comotomo right now and my son loves it. and i don’t have to cut anything to make it work after paying money for it. Comotomo does the job and burping him is a breeze after.
The best bottle purchased sofar
I’ve used nuke, similac and tommee tipee bottles. Tommee tipee is the best so far for feeding without chocking. My baby is totally bottle fed so there’s no problem of switching nipples of different bottles. She can take any shape of the nipple, including this one, which is very different from the nuke bottles. We used nuke for almost 3 months before switching to tommee tippee. Now we use all three types of bottles in turn.pros: having a heat senser for temperature. So it saves you from guess work; a valve to reduce air bubble, so it reduced colic at night.cons: you got to make sure after every cleaning and resembling the nipple flushes with the ring of the lid, otherwise the nipple sucks back during the feeding. The odd shape of bottle neck not fits into the bottle warmer perfectly so water comes up.
Fantastic Bottles for Breastfed Babies
We mostly breastfeed, but supplement with bottles and use bottles when I’m working. These have been the best ones yet. They have cut down on the amount of gas/burping we experienced with other bottles, which greatly reduces spit-up. In addition, they have not interfered with breastfeeding at all. The ONLY issue we have with these bottles is that they sometimes get "stuck." When this happens, you have to follow the instructions to clear the valve step or pinch it to get the flow going again. But otherwise, these are fantastic bottles.
Great but a bit leaky
If you don’t get it closed just right and perfectly lined up, there is some leaking that comes out of the edge. Otherwise, my LO took to this instantly at 4 weeks of age, then went back to the breast without any nipple confusion. The nurses at our hospital highly recommended this shaped nipple and they were right (or I have a genius newborn).
Good bottle, weird shape
We got these bottles to use during daycare for our breast-fed son. He takes to them without any difficulty and we have had no problems with the bottles leaking. My only complains is that, because of how wide they are, they don’t fit into many bottle warmers at all, which makes heating them more challenging. Overall, though, I really like these bottles.
These work great.
Used for both my first son, and our new baby boy. These work fast, relieved his gas in just 1 day.
Don’t really find the difference
I bought these bottles because my son is really gassy. However, I really don’t see any difference. He still gets really gassy from time to time but I guess it’s just nice to have extra bottles. Since these are small, it’s easy to throw them in my wife’s diaper bag when on-the-go.
My kid loves these
She always eats much better with this bottle than the others we have used. Dr. Brown is a close second, as Tommee Tippee has a slightly better flow and comfy nipple 🙂
As a breast feeding mom I definitely recommend Tommee Tippee bottles. I know that it all depends on the baby, however neither of mine had issues switching from bottle to breast whilst using Tommee Tippee so far (knock on wood). The only reason why I rated 4 stars instead of 5, is that to be honest, I don’t feel that there is a significant reduction in gas/fussiness because of the bottle (sorry!). I have used other brands (Playtex Ventaire, the playtex drop ins, Dr browns) and it all seems the same to me. I think the key is to feed a little at a time, burp frequently and don’t overfeed (whether breast milk or formula). With that said, I am a huge fan of the shape of the Tommee Tippee bottles, and I think that when a mom is buying bottles, you might as well get the ones that say they are for gas/colic etc (Rather than buy normal ones, then go out and get the specialized ones, as we parents tend to do 🙂 )
Best bottles out there
I’ve used these with two babies, nothing else compares. If they offered glass ones, I’d love them even more.My first baby I used 5 different brands, don’t waste time or money, these really are the best bottles out there.Don’t get microwave steamer, should never put bottles or anything in microwave, but the electric sterilizer works great.
My baby will only take these and the Playtex nurser dropin nipples. Bottles are tricky and it’s sometime tough to figure out what works. The anticolic seems to work but does suck to clean.
