- This configuration includes one parent unit (monitor) and one baby unit (audio monitor)
- DECT 6.0 provides crystal clear transmission, eliminating the annoying white noise you hear from analog monitors
- 5-level sound indicator – graphic bars on the parent unit indicate the level of sound in your baby’s room so you can visually monitor the noise level with the unit muted

- Rechargeable batteries provide the parent unit with up to 18 hours of monitoring time on a single charge, or use two AAA batteries (not included)
- Go hands free with the belt clip on the parent unit – carry the parent unit everywhere you go without the hassle of holding it. The operating range of the parent unit is up to 1,000 feet outdoors or 150 feet indoors
- Parent unit can be set to beep if: (1) link between the parent unit and the baby unit is lost, and/or (2) rechargeable battery is low
- Language is preset to English, but can be switched to French or Spanish for all screen displays

- Vibrating sound-alert on the parent unit – enjoy some added peace by being silently alerted when there is sound in your baby’s room
Wish I had gotten this one instead!
I ordered this baby monitor to replace an expensive Sony monitoring system I had gotten that was terrible. This VTech monitor is great! Easy to use and works perfectly. I highly recommend it. Only “con” I can find is that the parent unit screen does not light up. Sometimes hard to find buttons in the dark.
I mean it works, it does what it says, but the screen came broken and I hate how it beeps when it can’t link with the baby non-screen monitor. Oh, and it picks up EVERYTHING. So that’s cool I guess… unless your fighting with your husband and everyone can hear it though the monitor.
Serve its purpose perfectly! Wish baby unit has battery too, useless when power is out.
If watching your baby every second is not a must to you (I know it is for a lot of parents), then this set is perfect for you.- Sound is crystal clear with no white noise or interference. I put the sensitivity level at 5 (highest) and sound level at 2 or 3, it picks up any small noise my baby makes.- Talk back function is great. My husband and I sometimes have a short conversation this way when I am in the baby’s room and he lying in bed in our room.- Price is great, this only cost about 1/5 of those ones with video.- Wish the baby unit has a chargeable battery like the parent unit! We just experience hurricane Sandy and lost power for about a week, and this set doesn’t work during that time because the baby unit is useless. We had to keep our door open and pay attention to every sound, eventually we moved him into our bed for 4 days.If you really like seeing your baby plus the sound, I know there are a lot of great units out there too. The Summer Infant one sold from Costco is really good. My colleague bought that one and she loves it.Update after 1 year’s use: I change it from 4 star to 3, because the unit just stopped working after a year. The mother unit suddenly can’t find the baby unit anymore. Restarted it many times and still no use. Try to open it and see if it’s something obvious and couldn’t open it because the units are both tightly glued together. It doesn’t seem worth it to sent it somewhere for repair (and I don’t know where to send), so I had to throw it away. I really wish it would last longer.
Did not use — Typo on the page
We bought this product specifically because it said that the baby unit could be charged and used without a power cord. We needed this feature because my son has recently moved to his toddler bed and has a fascination with power cords so it’s not safe for us to have a corded monitor in his room. The baby unit is not chargeable — Only the parent unit can be used without a cord. I don’t know if this affects anyone else’s decision, but we are sending it back.As far as the monitor itself, we did not use it at all so I cannot comment on it’s effectiveness or reliability.
Decent Quality Audio Monitor
We bought this as our first monitor with our newborn. We don’t have a very large home and didn’t feel the need for a video monitor to start. This monitor works great. The audio is clear from across the house. There’s a talk feature on the parent unit that allows you to talk to the baby. This came in handy more as a walkie talkie between parents across the house. There’s a sensitivity level you can set, as well as volume on the parent unit. Occasionally the units became "disconnected" and you have to turn off the baby unit and turn it back on. This was random throughout the 6 months we used it. Only an issue when the baby is actually sleeping and you have to go in and try to reset the connection. For the price, this monitor was perfect for our early needs.
Baby slept awesome…monitor kept me up all night!
I bought this monitor from Target after we had a major issue with our Infant Optics video monitor. It was supposed to be a temporary monitor until we could do some research and find a better video monitor to buy. I figured we’d use it for a few weeks. Nope, I used it last night and it’s getting returned today. The monitor is fairly simple to use. The big issue I had with this is that the parent unit kept losing signal with it’s counterpart continuously throughout the night. This thing has a 1000 foot range, so it wasn’t a matter of being out of range, but the signal b/w both units was continuously dropped throughout the night. And when it loses signal, it beeps obnoxiously and I had to walk it closer to the other unit to get it to link up again. I mean this happened about 10 times last night. So I got up 10 times. Guess how many times our baby got up? ONCE. This thing woke me up 10x more than my son. Ridiculous. Also, after the issue with our old monitor, I’m paranoid about the monitor kicking off in the middle of the night and not being able to hear the baby. There is no "ON" light or any indicator that the unit is on that you can see in the dark. There is a light to show it’s plugged in to charge, but that’s it. I couldn’t even get the backlight to stay on, so I’d have to hold my cell phone to the monitor to see that it said "LINKED" and was still on. Terrible product.
Love the talk button, the signal is good, the sound isolation is ok, although I think I miss some noises my baby does. Love the dimmed light because although it doesn’t have much range, it doesn’t disturb baby sleep. What I don’t like is battery life. It seems it only lasts for a day. I would expect this to last 2 or 3 days.
Finally a monitor with no interference!
Don’t know why I waited so long to get this! This monitor is great, there is no interference and when you are done using it for the baby, you can use it like a walkie talkie. Not to mention that it has a rechargeable battery, so when you need it to be portable, just unplug, and be on your way with a charged battery. I really don’t know if these things are new features because it’s been 6 years since my last baby monitor, but I can’t help it, it’s exciting!
Designers are one step ahead of me
This product has features I would not have thought of the need for, but that are super-handy. e.g. it beeps at you if you go out of range, and you can adjust the sensitivity (which was handy for us, since our baby slept with white noise for several months. I have not had any problems with it in several months of use.
broke after 7 months
We bought this monitor to use for our older child.Gave the “baby” monitor to our newborn and used this with the 4 year old because of the 2 way capability and only one parent unit. However, after 7 months it began to beep as if the base had been turned off, and the parent unit said it could not connect with the base. After multiple attempts to get them to work I contacted VTech twice and was ignored. This is a great monitor if it continues to work for you, but if it doesn’t don’t expect good (or any, for that matter) customer service form VTech.
Didnt work for me 🙁
When we received this item, everything looked fine and dandy. Linking went fine etc. But the problem was that the baby unit was only picking out sounds (me talking at regular volume) from within 3-4 inches. We did keep it in the little one’s room, and realized that we couldn’t even hear it when she was crying, unless we kept it right next to her face. And we played around with all sensitivity levels etc.So unfortunately, this item didnt work for us.As most reviewers have good things to say about this baby monitor, it could just be that I got a defective piece. But given that reviewer D Clark had the exact same experience, a little more QC would be nice.
So awesome for the price!
I bought this as a cheap, and I thought temporary, replacement for a much more expensive unit. After using it, I see no need to get anything else. Love the ability to use it like a walkie-talkie. Love being able to tell my daughter to go back to sleep without even having to get out of bed. :0) Works great, wouldn’t use anything else.
I’m going out on a promise it will work, because vetch products is a good product. I will start using it in Februarywhen I start watching my great granddaughter .
not terribly happy with this purchase
We haven’t had ours for more than a year and it has been buzzing like crazy. I’ve not yet tried to replace the battery, but recharging it doens’t make a difference. I can’t figure out if there is a way to try different channels or if there is a way to fix the buzzing, but so far, all of my research has led me to no resolution. A real disappointment.
Loved it until baby arrived
I bought this while pregnant and loved it at first. We set it up, tried it, played with it making noises and all seemed to be perfect. But once baby arrived and we started to use it regularly I noticed the battery in the parent unit didn’t last much. After reading the manual again I noticed it says you have to charge it for 11 HOURS! Seriously? What good is a baby monitor that has to be plugged to a wall for half a day? But hey, since the sound is so good and crisp maybe it would be worth it? No, because even with such a long time charging, the battery only lasts a day and a half. I’m probably buying another one and throwing this away. So, in short:PROS:- good sound quality,- good range,- easy to set up,- doesn’t pick up white noise.CONS:- long time to charge the parent unit (11 hrs),- batteries don’t last much on parent unit (about 36 hrs),- sometimes noise has a delay of a few seconds before the monitor transmits it.Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend.
wish I got a digital monitor
I read the reviews here and still decides this is what I wanted. I didnt want an expensive digital camera monitor because the house is small and I didn’t want to be stuck looking at it ever 2 mins. I figured my parents did fine without a fancy one, so ill survive. Wrong. Well I am surviving haha. But the battery on this doesnt last long off the charger and after 8 months i can no longer read the digital lettering on the screen when it is in use. So now im suck in tje middle pf deciding if I should just buy a nice digital camera monitor or not. I think the camera would be helpful especially on those nights when the baby has a mild fever and you want to check up on them without waking them.
Great monitor, not so great battery life
This monitor is the clearest one we’ve used. We’ve had at least 6 different monitors and the sound quality on this is the best. It is crystal clear without any background noise or static. Reception is perfect and my children and I like that I can talk to them through the monitor. The battery on the parents unit wears down very quickly and needs to be plugged in after a few hours of use. I simply plug in in in whatever room I am in to avoid the battery going kaput. Other than that, this is an excellent monitor and I can always hear the slightest sound quite clearly. I would buy this again and recommend this to my friends and family.
This thing works well and we have really thick walls. I have not experimented with it over a long distance, but it works well from the bedroom to the living room the way we needed it to work. Good sound as well. So far so good, we love it.
Works Fine but…
Works fine, but after 20 months the screen stopped working… I can no longer see what’s going on when trying to adjust things. Also the buttons are confusing if you are fumbling with it in the dark.
Has a great range, very nice sound pick up. Battery does NOT last very long, which isn’t a huge issue because it plugs in. Seems durable, my son has pulled it off the night table a few times and it fell on the floor. Only have used it a few months so far.
Keeps a charge, vibrates when my daughter cries
I bought this for our cabin, which does not have electricity. We keep a power pack (for jump starting cars) there to charge cell phones, so I also use it to plug in the baby unit. I thought that it was perfect for the cabin, but I am also finding that it is better than our video monitor at home. This is what I love about this monitor:
• It has really good range, and it will tell you if it loses it’s connection. Of course, I have never lost the connection!
• There isn’t any static when the baby is quietly sleeping.
• You can set the unit to vibrate if the baby cries, which helps me when we have guests over and are in the back yard.
• The volume on the parent monitor goes from quiet to pretty loud.
• You can talk back to your baby.
• The parent unit holds it’s charge all weekend.
• It was less expensive than most other monitors.
If you’re looking for a simple monitor w/o all the bells and whistles, this is a great one. We’ve had no problems, except that it requires quite a bit of time charging before it can be taken off the charger. But that might be a default with our battery! Other than that, my husband and I like it a lot!
I love this audio monitor and even ditched our video monitor. It’s very sensitive and picks up every noise in the baby’s room.
Great value monitor!
It was easy to set up and it works. I can hear my baby from the living room. I’m not sure what else you’d expect a baby monitor to do. If you like wasting your money on useless features like video and other stuff, then go ahead and get another product but this VTech does the job just fine.
Great for the price
The monitor works great for hearing when my baby wakes up. I had some issues with the battery at first. I had charged it but if you leave it unplugged and turned off the battery will be dead when you turn it back on. This was not an issue for me as I have it plugged in most of the time. If I want to use the monitor without it being plugged in I just have it plugged in while turned off then when I need to use it it will have a full charge. It has decent range. I was able to use it outside while cleaning my car and my baby was in her room in our second floor apartment. I don’t use the night light feature but have talked to the baby or my husband to me if I am changing her and need something and the monitor is on.
so, so, very disappointing battery life though.
Miss the battery life of the previous model which did not have the talk back feature. Do love the talk back feature, wish they would just have added that feature to the old monitor. Our other monitor (about 4 years old) could go days without a charge. This one must be charged every day after just one overnight of "monitoring"also, it is very annoying that there is nothing to indicated the monitor is on and linked if you don’t have enough light to view the screen (like when you wake in teh middle of the night and wonder if you turned it on before you fell asleep). I have no idea why they complicated the monitor with a screen, it is totally unnecessary and does not light up when trying to do functions.one other feature lost with this newer version is the lullaby music. So we have to keep our old monitor pulled it to play the music.given our options, this is ok. wish the other parent piece hadn’t broken on the old one though.
Great little monitor
Great little monitor. Gets the job done. No static sounds. We only need to use it when we travel, so I can’t really speak to everyday use, but it’s not given us any trouble. The nightlight feature is nice if you just need a little bit of light to be able to change a diaper, and it shuts itself off after a few minutes. Happy with the purchase.
Great monitor for a small price
My husband and I purchased this monitor when we transitioned our first baby into his own room when he was 3 months. We didn’t want to hear every tiny noise he made but wanted a monitor loud enough to wake us up without having a lot of static. This monitor has crystal clear quality (I’ve never once heard static). The 2-way feature is nice so you can talk to your baby from your room. I would recommend this to everyone – it’s great and for a small price, too!
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible…
This monitor is the worst. I cannot describe how much I dislike this monitor.1. The battery does not last through the night, so we have to move the charging the cable up and down stairs every day2. The worst part of this monitor is it randomly loses the connection to the baby unit for no apparent reason as if I restart the parent unit, it reconnects without a problem. I guess i can see this happening if the parent unit is in the basement and baby unit is on the third floor, but this has been happening when the 2 units are barely 10 feet apart with only 2 standard doors between them. This is completely unacceptable. We have actually lose sleep because this thing will lose its connection and start beeping. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Returning and getting a Philips AVENT.
Worked great…for about a little over a year
We got this monitor 2 years ago and for the last 9 or 10 months the screen has not worked. It hasn’t been that big of an issue since I can still hear through it, until today. I moved the monitor to my daughter’s room (from our room about 25ft away) and now I can’t get the base and monitor to connect. I cannot troubleshoot the issue since 2/3 of the screen doesn’t work so I cannot see if they are on the same channel etc. Now I have to buy another monitor (definitely not this brand!!) as I still use it for my daughter and have a baby on the way. If you are going to spend money, I highly recommend investing it in a worthy product.
